This is one of the most epic songs I've ever heard. like an echo from ancient times, from times forgotten.
"there was a time when he was worshiped as a god, and why wouldn't he be worshiped, after all, he was the son of Ilmatar"
or at least that's what the legends say. at least he was a great hero.

In the original mythology the slaying of the pike happened at the same time as the creation of the world. I also believe that the great pike that Väinämöinen slays is Väinämöinen himself (in earlier poems Väinämöinen is called a pike) in order to get down to Tuonela and gain knowledge, similar to the norse Odin hanging himself on the yggdrasil tree to gain the knowledge of the runes
