She's got a ton of awards, she's still talked about and she has billions of views accumulated, I find it funny when people say something is underrated just because it's not overrated
@@pkira500Let us talk about the definition of being underrated. I love her unconventional music. When I want my visitors to leave my house I put on one of her records and very soon it will be just Diamanda and me.
It is weird that everybody was silent at the end. No clapping or appreciation for this interview. It is extraordinary for an artist to give such a detailed interview like this. I don't remember, but maybe in the 80s, people didn't clap after someone spoke. Thank you for posting this.
to anyone watching this for the first time: the audio gets louder after about a minute, then it gets really crackly. bare with the tape wear, the audio becomes flawless after it gets past that worn part of the tape! great stuff here!
diamanda just taught me so much in ~48 minutes, in 2024, 40 years after she spoke with these people. so much of what she said is still relevant today, not just regarding societal issues but also regarding music, production, creativity, technical stuff. interesting to hear what her brain thought about when she was recording her earlier pieces. incredible interview for 1984
What an amazing Woman and Artist she is. I would love the opportunity to sit down and speak with her after 30 years of delving in to the subject/question of “Who Is Diamanda Galas?”
Bullshit - this woman experimented with everything but cocaine is literally the last thing she did and if she did - it did not last long. She would not be able to achieve what she did with Cocaine. Heroin - maybe, not cocaine. Cocaine makes you dumb as fuck and ruins your career (you become a repetitive jukebox) in no more than 2-3 years on the shit. You can see it on so many "Musicians" today. In reality she sound so "arrogant" as she was not hooked on cocaine. For example Genesis P Orridge who left halfway of the interview - for him, knowing his music, Id bet he was hooked for a very long time, if not until he died. You hear it in his music and how boring it became so quickly, compared to Diamanda.
Such a wickedly intelligent woman. I have nothing but admiration.
I love that this is not another 'hey, isn't she spooky?' presentation. This is cool stuff about performing her art. Thanks.
One of the most underrated artists ever🖤💀🖤☠
She's not underrated! She's legendary!

And this is exactly why cocaine is a bad idea.
If it creates singers like Diamanda, then let it be this bad
Hahahahaha
