Matt, the daunting amount of work you describe awaiting you there is making me sweat! And, in my experience with older structures, its the problems that aren't clear at first, that only become known in detail once you tear into walls, remove layers, dig/excavate, follow wiring/plumbing/ventilation/etc., that can really add time, complexity and cost to these projects. But you are young, have a passion and tremendous energy for this project, and in few years, you'll have a couple of teens to help (free forced labor). I'm interested in following your struggles, but more interested in your successes! 😎👍
Thanks man! There are ABSOLUTELY going to be struggles, but that's just part of life, and I've gone through some of the worst things possible in life already, so for someone like me, I find this kind of thing not too bad compared to most people and find it fun! Life is too short to live it being scared to try new things, and so I really try to go for the things I want in life! I think once you start seeing it come together over the next few years, everyone's anxiety will start to drop 😅 but we're also gonna have some real fun too so I'm glad you're here for the long haul and I appreciate it greatly! 😊
You might be able to rent a kei truck from Power Komeri or see if someone can help you with renting a dumpster that can be delivered to your property and picked up. This way you can get rid of a lot of stuff. Put aside all metal and later find the recycle center for metal and you can get a little money. All electronics will be more difficult. Cutting grass is a great, but I it will grow right back. Look for leaks, clogged drains, etc. I wish I was closer to help you out! Have a great trip!
Yes sir, I do too 😂 It's going to be a lot of work for sure, but one good thing is I will be there all alone so every day will be filled with working and cleaning. The biggest goal this trip is making sure the elements and animals/bugs can't get in and ruin anything....it's in surprisingly great condition still, with some obvious areas needing attention, but I'm hoping that with time I can bring this beauty back to its former glory 😊
@@MatsukawaZaraki I think viewers will enjoy footage on a Timelapse too. This way little editing and we get to see how much work you have done in a short time.
I absolutely will be, thanks for the idea! I also plan to try to explore and document as much of the history of the home and area as I can from the remaining family member and locals 😊
There's a bear in there . . . and lots of critters as well. hehehe As I said on the first inspection video. This IS Project. A kind of mega project. Don't be surprised if it take a really long time to sort through all the stuff you find. That seems to be a common response to "how much stuff did you have to sort out". I wont be in Japan until later in the year, so no help to offer on this trip. Enjoy the journey. I know lots of people will enjoy following along, including me.
Oh definitely.....I can only imagine how much stuff has accumulated in all of the areas I DIDN'T look into yet hahaha Too bad you won't be able to stop by, but maybe next trip!
