Yessss when you are 13/14 most people have developed emotionally enough that they should know that is not acceptable to do at all and is very fucked up. They clearly lacked empathy and for that the judge should not be empathetic either.

When she finally she said “she died” I felt relieved. I felt relieved cuz death seems like peace compared to the poor girls life. I can’t imagine what she would’ve gone through, I’m infuriated by how many people and kids thought that this was ok and this case just struck a nerve.
RIP Sylvia, you deserved so much better 🕊

Relieved? I felt anger! The neighbors saw her and knew she was being beat could have saved her. Her parents could have saved her if they were actually parents. Her sister Jenny could have saved her. Any one of those kids could of had a kind heart. The church pastor seeing this girl stuff her face with food and knowing she was beaten could have saved. Society failed this girl. And the people who killed served some time and all walked away.

@Justin-nj4gs she isn't saying relieved that she died, she was saying she was relieved that it was over for her. And she did mention that multiple people failed her. I completely understood what the original comment was getting at. Of course ever feels complete anger when listening to this but also, when you hear how much she endured, it is a slight relief when it was over. She finally could rest. It's horrible that she went through that and died instead of being rescued. Absolutely sickening. But this commenter wasn't disregarding that, she was just stating that it's a relief when the torture was over.

I actually posted a comment the day this video was uploaded trying to warn people just how bad this story really was and could potentially be traumatising. Because it traumatised me. I ended up deleting it because so many people said that such cases need to be heard to spread awareness. 😣 Awareness of what? The cruelty and brutality that human beings are capable of? I first read about this case years ago and of course I had no idea what to expect from the outset but once I'd reached the end of the case I was mentally scarred for about two weeks after. I couldn't get the images and the thoughts of what that girl had suffered out of my head. It literally gave me nightmares. This is a case that should be approached with caution. But I have no desire to ever hear the details of this case again. Once was bad enough. 😞

Sylvia definitely stayed because of her sister. In situations like this, it's so difficult to leave when you have other ties besides just your own self-preservation. Jenny most likely wasn't seen as a "threat" by Gertrude or Paula due to her shy nature and "physical imperfection" from polio, which is what spared her from their wrath. But I have no doubt in my mind that if Jenny was any more outspoken, she would have been abused just as badly. Gertrude and Paula definitely felt no sympathy for Jenny. They just didn't feel like they needed to "put her in her place" or whatever twisted shit they were thinking.

People always say "this is the worst case I've ever covered", but this one really is :(

I’ve watched so much true crime but the cases that make me question humanity and feel incredible rage are of Junko Furuta and Sylvia Likens. Truly tragic. There is no amount of pain that could be caused to the monsters involved that would bring justice to those poor girls.

Every time i put you on my hubby says in the background in a deep voice "BELLA!!" Cracks me up. Your the only female youtuber (besides Kendal Rae) that he actually doesn't mind hearing. Anyone else, i gotta put my headphones on or go to another room. We like your voice. And we love the way you talk (cussing & being real) & how cheeky you are. Thanks for being you. 😉

“Thirty-eight fifty” would be how most of us would pronounce it regularly. EDIT: in the Midwest United States

That doesn’t help at all lol. You could pronounce that “three eight five zero” or “thirty-eight fifty” or “three thousand eight hundred fifty”

I'm sorry Bella, I watched the intro but after remembering the story when you introduce the devil's name I still can't get myself to listen again to this story. This is such a heartbreak. I give you a thumbs up instead of watching the whole video. Thank you for telling her story.

She had endure so much cruelty, i feel terrible!!!! I hope all those ppl who were involved in this somehow suffered for their deeds. Such a bright little child's life was taken away by some monsters in the most brutal way.
Sylvia I hope you are resting easy sweetheart ❤️
This case is very similar to Junko's.

That poor poor girl I would love to see each and everyone of those that participated in this horrific act suffer the exact same abuses they put this poor girl through. How can so many people be so fucking cold hearted like not one of those people NOT ONE it would've taken just ONE of the people in this story to say something
Those monsters should never see the light of day again unless it's on a prison yard
Rest in absolute peace sweet girl

i don’t usually think people deserve to have cancer but all i have to say is, I hope it was the most pain any of them had ever felt and i hope everytime they closed their eyes they saw sylvia and what they did.
