nah man its a great first car! Its the perfect amount of power for someone who's never driven RWD before. Me and my missus bought one a few years ago for her to learn how to drive in and she really enjoyed the car. The 2.2L + automatic combo is nice and smooth. It has enough power for long trips and overtakes but slow enough that you can't get in too much trouble. We sold it to downsize as we wanted something that used less gas but we both regretted it after. I'm looking at buying another because it was just such a great car. The only things I suggest being careful about, are firstly to thoroughly research what to look out for when you go look at one to buy, and if you do buy one its smart to always having money saved away in case of something pricey breaking. On a BMW there's always something expensive that will break/need servicing eventually. The E46 is 100% worth the cost of maintenance, you just gotta keep them happy and they will keep you happy.
hey @@Sk0die, thanks for sharing your experience with the 320i. I'm considering one as well with an auto transmission. What sort of fuel economy was your car getting?
@@jangruber1929 the economy wasn't great as far as I can remember, my 320i used about the same as my mates 330i. I think I was getting around 400-500kms per tank in the city/suburbs and around 600-700kms on the highway. Admittedly my foot was quite heavy so that would not have helped. These motors never get good economy untill they have fully warmed up so if most of your driving is short 2-5km trips the economy is gonna suck, whereas if your driving a good distance on open roads every day then its really not bad at all.
@@jangruber1929 Same with the 323i (2.5L motor) with automatic box.. The fuel economy isn't great, but is not tragic as well.. So its between.. Like Sk0die said, fully warmed up enigne will be have better economy and if u using car on short distances, then u have to prepare yourselft to spend some money every few days... But still its worth it. I love my E46.. Even tho it is not pefect atm, I will never send it to scrapyard.. Best car BMW ever made.. right afrer E39.
Great car!!!
Nice...
We're you testing the off-road capabilities as well?
yes
الله يرزقنا
do you think it is too much for a first car? I dream of myself behind this steering wheel.
