Thanks Ivan, you find the most interesting pieces! Not all winners, but definitely unique & worth a look. I typically don't care for skeleton models, but something about this appeals to me, though I like the silver better. One thing bugs me a little, I wish they would use blue hands on the black model & black hands on the silver model for easier viewing of the time. Otherwise, cool pieces!
Hey thanks man... the same for me, I usually don't like skeleton dials but this is different enough it appealed in its own way! And absolutely agree, I wished they would've done some more colour on the hands in this, even if they just extended the red would've been better.
There are two colours version for this watch. Did you by any chance check out the other colour version? Which one do you think is better the black pvd or the silver? Tx. Great watch. Thank u for showing it.
Thanks for the comment - yeah I saw the silver version however I thought this one was better looking, hence is the one I asked for. I have not seen the silver one in hand... I'm sure the quality is the same, but look wise this was my subjective preference. Cheers, Ivan.
Fun and very good looking watch. I was already going to buy this watch but then i noticed they are publishing new ciga design z-model which has little bit of "richard mille style" but not too much in my taste.
Would it be a good first automatic watch, or should I go for a seiko 5 or citizen? Where I stay, the seiko 5 and most citizen automatic watches are nearly double the price although I do like both.
Something not discussed at all is the sticking jerky motion of the second hand. Looks almost like the movement is skipping moreso than just a normally ticking of the second hand.
Thank you Sir, another great review. I’m trying to refrain from acquiring inexpensive watches, but this one is a real stunner in pictures. Is the in hand experience similar?
Thanks Jeffrey... well I would say it's probably the only skeleton dial watch I've liked, and that's probably saying something. It's got decent heft, and I really like the design. The clasp is weakest part of the whole watch I would say.
I wish I can find out more about the movement. I am guessing it's a variation of ST16 series with a customized chassis. There is not much info about how that shock observing construction functions either. Do you know where to find out more info? I am dying to know...
Xiaomi themselves list varying degrees of info on their various international sites, but it's not comprehensive by any means. I would try looking on a good forum like WUS to see if anyone has found out better info. At the same time no harm writing to them directly to ask what you wish. Hope that helps!
I found some more info in a comment on a different vid of the same watch. Movement is 19 jewel, 21600, AAA grade. They have 3 movement grades, the best is - 20s/+30s a day but this AAA grade is specially provided to Ciga Design to be -15s instead of -20s with 4 extra hours of power.
Nice send-up of an Apple watch! If voice interface and a holo projector ever get common and watch sized we may all have to rethink wrist watchery. In the meantime, a nice visible automatic movement makes a fun and funny counterpoint to the age of George Jetson. Bleeding edge, my foot!
Haha indeed - well the latest Apple Watch has voice interface I believe, if you want to put up with a "watch" you have to charge every evening. As for holograms, they have something like that in Wakanda with their vibranium based tech, saw it on TV recently!
Nah, just carry a power brick in your armpit and run the wire down your sleeve. If you feel asymmetrically heavy, add another battery in other pit. Then you can wander the flight deck of a flying aircraft carrier without being blown overboard!
A really unique watch though I must say that I do agree with some comments made by others pertaining to Xiaomi's production design. I would thought that Xiaomi would achieved more if they did more effort into blending / cohesive design, regardless of their reasoning. Omitting or reducing odd spaces between circular movement with the rounded square case would truly be a deserving red dot winner. Unfortunately, not all red dot design winners are known for their product durability or flaws. Eg. My prescription glasses which was two time red dot winner suffered broken ear pieces twice within a year! Possible best feature is undoubtedly their mesh strap quality, except for their double lock clasp and the quick release pin design. Reason being, the additional 'double lock / clasp lock' is purpose less in actual practical function and use. Also, its almost impossible to replace any broken pin, let alone removing the broken pin from the strap's lug's fixture. Its a double edge of between over design at the expense of practicality and quality design. For a change thought due to these, Xiaomi's easy fit leather straps is actually the best feature that is also an accessory option. Yet, the finish product affirms their red dot award achievement of a certain commendable product quality standard.
I bought this watch in late Sep 2018. It came in a beautiful packaging and with only one month guarantee. Fast forward to Sep this year. The "automatic" part of the watch broke down resulting in the watch stopping even while on hand and shaking vigorously. My watch repair guy said two gears were damaged; repairs will cost me double what I paid for the watch. It will still run with handwind, but that's not the point, is it? You get a skeleton mechanical watch to see the movements working automatically, not just with handwind. This is my second Chinese skeleton which has broken down the same way. Should have spent my money on some Seiko or Orient, though, for some reason, they dont make full skeletons... only those hideous open hearts. Anyway, just my personal experience to share with you guys... Caveat emptor!
Caveat emptor indeed! Sorry to hear about your experience... although $400 to fix two gears in this movement doesn’t sound right at all. A new NH35A can be purchased for around $60, and that’s not wholesale price either. AFAIK Seagull parts should he reasonably easy to source. Might have been worth getting a second opinion...?
@@PerthWAtch ohhh, 😔😔 bad luck, i love automatic movement watches, but the big brands are so much costly, and copy ones are not trustworthy, thanks for the video and reply!

Did you face any defects till now? I'm thinking about buying this watch but worried if it gets any problems there's no place to repair over here. Gonna waste my money!
It still works fine, however as a watch reviewer I don't get to use any one watch very much! The movement is a simple modification of a common Sea-Gull movement, so it shouldn't be tricky to repair if needed I think.
@@PerthWAtch Thanks. One of the conditions of listing for the GPHG is that the watch be commercially available by 31 October. I enjoy your blend of reviews of budget and luxury watches so I thought you would be best to review it. Cheers Jeremy
The second hand's movement seems jerky to me. Looks like it's missing a beat every now and again and compensating by moving twice as far on the next one...
What kind of battery is it run with? And once it's run out of battery, how would I change it? p.s. I have no knowledge of mechanical watches ^^;; Great video! I live in Perth, too!
Just a quick question, I have a swatch watch that stopped running while ago. Where can I get the battery from? Can I just simply visit one of the mister minits?
You can do that but they might cock it up. Better to try opening it yourself and seeing if you can get the battery. It's typically a simple matter - check out my videos on battery replacement for some hints.
Thanks for your recommendation, I will surely take a look at your video. Btw, what's your thought on this Xiaomi Ciga watch(round-shape one). Here is the link: m.gearbest.com/men-s-watches/pp_009378595270.html?wid=1349303. I am juggling between the square one and this one... Thanks, Ivan!
To my knowledge there's another watch from Xiaomi CIGA Design called the Master Series Michael Young Watch, which to me is better designed watch. This looks way too much like a certain fruit based smartwatch for my taste, the 4 empty corners, I don't know, feels like wasted space, but still an interesting watch nontheless.
Thanks for sharing that... but, yikes! I hadn't seen the Michael Young one before but looking at it certainly it's not my preference with that much more conventional looking "Chinese" skeleton. The 4 corners... well I chalk those up as a necessity to be earthquake proof :)
I like the empty corners. To me, it makes it look like a display case containing the movement, instead of the case being part of the movement. .Something about is is so appealing to me
its like a mechanical apple watch
Haha yes it is :)

Hey I was wondering. I have preety small wrists about 6.3inches. How will this watch fit me?
Would it be a good first automatic watch, or should I go for a seiko 5 or citizen? Where I stay, the seiko 5 and most citizen automatic watches are nearly double the price although I do like both.
I would go for a Seiko or Citizen first rather than this

Hmm, I'm going to have to go back and take a look... it didn't strike me as that jerky IIRC...
Is there still a link to this watch ?
Should still be there
Checkout my video and description for the answer to these and many more questions ;)
I hate square smartwatches so this was a surprise and love it .Prefer it to the Richard Mille copy too
Yeah this one has a certain cool factor I think... not a copy of anything, and having that great custom Seagull skeleton movement :)
