Lyrics:
By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes,
Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond,
Where me and my true love were ever wont to gae,
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomond.
O ye'll tak' the high road, and I'll tak' the low road,
And I'll be in Scotland a'fore ye,
But me and my true love will never meet again,
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomond.
'Twas there that we parted, in yon shady glen,
On the steep, steep side o' Ben Lomond,
Where in soft purple hue, the highland hills we view,
And the moon coming out in the gloaming.
Chorus
The wee birdies sing and the wildflowers spring,
And in sunshine the waters are sleeping.
But the broken heart it kens nae second spring again,
Though the waeful may cease frae their grieving.
O ye’ll tak’ the high road and I’ll tak’ the low road,
And I’ll be in Scotland afore ye.
But me and my true love will never meet again,
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond.

Beyond beautiful!!! Thank God for Scotland!!!
I just sang this song recently for my elderly ladies at the retirement home I worked at, as a goodbye gift
Aw that's so lovely ❤️
I'm sure it was such a joy for them to hear!
@@PeterHollens this is my second favorite song that my grandmother used to sing for me as I went to sleep. Thank you for bringing tears to my eyes as I listened.
My favorite was Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral (Irish Lullaby), and it would mean so much to me if you ever decided to sing it. It’s a beautiful song.
a "goodbye gift" at a retirement home...... O_o
@@PeterHollens great Jobs
So beautiful in all possible ways!! Many Thanks to you all!!
❤ greetings from coastal Mississippi. Beautiful video. Performance was elegant. Peter, my dear friend, you never disappoint. May you and your always be blessed ❤😂🎉🎉
I never get tired listenin to "The Bonnie Bonnie banks o Loch Lomond". My Great-grandmother was born not too far from Loch Lomond.
there are so many great Scotish and Irish songs that shall be sung, please go for it.
Man Peter must really love this song first one was 5 years ago the second one was with David Archuleta and now this version. But I’m not complaining 😊
I am a simple man with simple needs: I see a Peter Hollens video, I hit the like button and my day gets a hundred times better
Hey Peter Holland this is Amanda Baxter I love your music my mom always did too January 28th she passed away and the song is reminding me that even though she's passed away I can live on for her she loved your music she loved her Christmas album keep doing what you're doing thank you Peter hollens
Lots of love ❤💖
This day just keeps getting better! We got donuts for breakfast, my baby brother was being the cutest thing ever, and now Peter upolads this lovely song!!!
Donuts?? Lucky 😂
That’s strange; my love of donuts was ruined for me today (or cream ones, at least).
My classmate brought cream-filled donuts into Econ, saying they were for a project in her previous class. She let us have some, but then the teacher asked what project they were for. Turns out, she used them to model some parasite STD that is characterized by “yellow discharge.” She said this when the donut was in my mouth.
I don’t think I’ll ever have a cream filled donut again.
@@_somerandomguyontheinternet_ just reading this...yuck. how could someone do that to anyone else?
@@_somerandomguyontheinternet_ yo wtf?
Absolutely beautiful!
This has been a staple lullaby for my daughter since she was a wee bairn. As she's gotten older, she understands that it's a sad song and has asked why...I've never had the heart to tell her the full story on what the main interpretation of the song is believed to be about have told her it's a lament on not being able to go back home. This was such a beautiful collaboration and sweet blend of harmony and talent. Thank you so much for creating something so heartbreakingly beautiful.
❤️❤️❤️ That’s so beautiful. Thank you for watching!

That I’ll bury for me own
In a bonny bonny bank

I'm so glad you just made updated that cover song with The Neil Sisters,
You'll take the high road and I'll take the low road,
We'll take the rocky road like rocky road ice cream that is.
Like is that you Shaggy I forgotten about him singing a tidbit of that good memory 💪🐺👍
@@SwoleWolfHasAHandlebarMustache
Yes, like Scooby-Doo and the Lock-ness Monster. "ZOINKS!!!"
New that's the RIGHT road!
I listened to this song a lot as a kid and I am so excited to here you cover it. Everything you sing comes out amazing and I know this won't be any different.
Loch Lomond and Shenandoah are my favorite videos of yours, I've seriously had them both on repeat through out my day, and I work 14-16 hour shifts. I seriously just love it. There was one loop websites where it would count your repeats and I think I got it to like 300 plus or something ridiculous like that ha ha literally never tire, it's just so good.
Without a doubt, the best rendition ever👍
I ❤️ THIS
This is the most beautiful you ever sing , and the O Neil sister's brings so much authentisaty and warm, epic💖
❤️❤️❤️

I love Scottish folk songs.
I love these harmonies.
I love the scenery.
Boom di-yada, boom di-yada....
Awesome as always!
Lovely song
This is about my family and our ancestors. Always heard it as a kid and love it. Love both versions. Great Job.
This is so good.
I agree that it's one of the most beautiful folk songs. My favorite version is the TTBB arrangement by Jonathan Quick, that we used to do in my old choir.
WOW
You are hilarious. Also, beautiful music.
You guys did a great job singing
