    Switched to the barrel grip a few months ago and love it, won’t go back now. Doing a 180 degree cut means you keep your body and the job still, you can spin the tool around and pull it towards yourself. I also like the auto torque.

    Barrel grip is the better choice if u cut upside down.
    •Cleaner resunts with upside down cuts
    • for this kind of cuts the trigger of the D handle saw is impractical.

      New 18v brushless D handle jigsaw has no speed control in the trigger , one thing they could have kept .
      I also prefer D handle , mainly if it slips from hand it stops , always better with tools that stop , when trigger is not pressed , same with angle grinders , rat tail/paddle switch is safer on a tool thats designed to cut anything front of it , specially new ones that can stop the blade .
      I have looked at Festool barrel grips , mainly because hardware store is selling older corded ones for half price , still not enough , specially when Festool Carvex needs tons of accessories, base model makes only 90° cuts , adjustable shoe sold separately.

    • @donalrodgers123
      @donalrodgers123 Рік тому

      Correcting myself it has a built in blower that is always on. I've put a copeing foot on my Milwaukee I find I can do 90 degree cuts easily enough makes the jig so much better cutting inverted. As for dust collection I use the hose and move it along the cut line.

  • @richiejames928

    • @boberson83
      @boberson83 Рік тому +1

      Shouldn't people on the 40v system be able to have a jig saw also in the system? Or do you want them to have two battery systems? Wouldn't that just increase consumption even more?

    • @s13kuminachu
      @s13kuminachu Рік тому +2

      @boberson83 I'd bet most who are buying into these 40v platforms already have 18v systems. I've seen several videos where the 18v tools outperform the 40v stuff. Some torque test channel shows the bosch 18v destroying the 40v makita. My opinion, seems like gimmick marketing. Perhaps the 40v is useful in certain tools but the 36v makita stuff is all running the same voltage and 18650 cells. Again, bosch 21700 18v packs are out performing makitas 18650 40v stuff. I run bosch and makita 18v. The hype train is real.

    Makita LXT 18v really needs to come out with some Stacked Lithium Batteries to Try and get more power out of their Tools , But I did hear that it wouldn't matter because the LXT Line is Engineered for their Existing 18v batteries.... Does Anyone know anything on this Subject ?? 👍🖖

      higher capacity batteries or stacked cell batteries won't make an 18v tool any more powerful but it could theoretically maintain peak
      ated power for longer. biggest problem with makita 18v is even the 6ah batteries lose peak current capability rather quickly. my home made 9ah batteries run my 18v grinder at peak power for much longer than a genuine 6ah does

      Wouldn't help, tools are made to work with current packs. They could already use better 18650's, no need for pouch at all but won't make a big difference

    Personally I’m disappointed it’s made in China. Sooo many Made In China Makita (non domestic especially) I know a lot or most companies obviously do this. But it doesn’t make it any less annoying. I go way out of my way to buy made in Japan Makita. So unfortunately if there’s a UK model(s) to consider I will go with any other country if at all possible. Super unfortunate tho. I use CXT, LXT, XGT in part to get the highest quality Makita tools (aka Not China) Makita has a new “Made In Japan” Drywall/Sheetrock/Plasterboard whatever u want to call it. ScrewGun. With a kinda D style handle. I think the MN is FS600DZ. That would be an awesome review too. Anyways Great vid as always! Cheers!! Xx

    Ever since this video aired I’ve been waiting for this jigsaw. I’ve even called Makita every so often asking for a U.S. release date. I finally got an email from Makita announcing the release of this awesome saw into the U.S. and then saw the price. Couldn’t believe my eyes…$350! $150 more than the Milwaukee, DeWalt, and Flex. I guess I’ll be waiting awhile on this one 😢

    Barrel grip for me. I have the corded Makita and like it. It has a sliding thumb switch and not that silly push button pad that the wife will put her fingernails through. It will outlive me and I can keep using it no matter how many times Makita changes their battery platform. I've had 5 different Makita battery platforms, landing on lxt. If I buy another battery platform, it won't be Makita. Makita, where is the LXT "cordless" pruner?

    I don't understand what Makita is trying to do with some of these 40v tools. If they aren't more powerful then there's no point in them existing. The overwhelming majority of 40v Makita tool owners are multi platform 18v/40v.
    Im still waiting for Makita to make a 40v heat gun, however instead they seem to be determined to make pointless 40v tools with no benefit over the 18v

    • @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
      @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL  Рік тому +3

      Anyone who is starting out with 40v tools is not going to want to buy into an 18v system because you don't get it. You seem to think everyone who uses 40v will already own 18v? The XGT system is like the LXT system, it is designed to be a COMPLETE system, not just a few tools that YOU deem need more power. It isn't MXFuel. I can't believe after 5 years of saying this that people still don't get it.

    Wait a minute, makita made a tool that’s not fully compatible with THERE OWN BATTERIES? (Can’t tilt base fully) wow. that’s a pretty epic fail really.

    • @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
      @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL  Рік тому +5

      I doubt many people are gonna want to use it with the 8Ah battery. And most companies have to do this for small tools now as the large Ah batteries are getting so massive. Would you rather have a comfortable tool, or an overly cumbersome one that takes a battery too heavy for the tool? No fail.

    • @AndrewStrydomBRP
      @AndrewStrydomBRP Рік тому +3

      @@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Makita should be taking notes from metabo, 5.5ah, 8ah and 10ah batteries are the exact same size, the 8ah and 10ah just puts out less peak power. The times you need a big battery are generally the times you don't need the high output (Lights, vacuums, heat gun etc)

    • @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL

      @@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL The few that might make sense for that are probably the ones big enough to justify a 2x18v, like a chainsaw. I could see makita doing a 2x40v in future like dewalt does a 2x54v

    • @richiejames928
      @richiejames928 Рік тому +2

      @@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL I’d say it’s a pretty massive fail. when I’m at work with all the things Iv gotta think about I don’t wanna have to think about what makita battery fits my makita tool. I just wanna grab and go.. you know. Like the 18v has been forever. it’s just poor design.

  • @tomc3965

    Makita are getting lazy bringing out 40v version tools pretty much the same as there 18v tools. This jigsaw needs a clear plastic chip/dust shield to contain the dust better when using a dust extractor.
    They should put a side switch ok the jigsaw like the hikoki one. These two things are what hikoki managto do on there first model they brought out.
    This 40v xgt is just a waste of time and money
