The answer could be life, or maybe not. Honestly the sphinx not having anyone answer the riddle in so long it forgot is relatable. Amazing work, and please keep going.
thank you sm! i wrote two versions of this riddle, one that was more vague and one that was more precise. but it was interesting to me to have her recite the more vague one, like maybe someone gave her a purposely multiple-answer riddle....(the answer also had to do with the bigger story i had in mind! it's supposed to be "a name")
This is the very first time I get to see a concept of a Sphinx fucking up their own rules or their game. They forgot the correct answer from their own riddles. LOVE IT
You are about to die by a giant sphinx and the last thing you say is "Wait what was the right answer?" The answer to the riddle is "a name." A name can indeed be a curse or a gift, depending on how it's perceived. It can be hated, feared, or loved, but its power ultimately comes from the meaning and significance you or others assign to it.
My answer was "Rules" Rules can either be good ones or bad ones, oppressive at their worst, and guidance by those wiser at their best. Of course, rules, on a personal level don't mean anything unless you choose to follow them. I suppose the one weakness in this answer is that they aren't always necessarily given by another, you can make rules for yourself.
I have a fondness for sphinxes and you've done well with this design. Classic style but she's fluid, a stretching long-haired shape that makes her distinct. The premise is really fun too - up above the world has moved on enough for smartphones and tours through her temple. What is she even guarding? Does it even matter anymore? But she only loses confidence once she realizes she can't remember the answer that matters to her. Since everyone's leaving their guesses - knowing the truth - I think I would have guessed "a look." They can mean many things, someone else has to give one to you, and its up to you to interpret it and if it ruins your day, you rise above, make a new friend. I think the vague riddle works great for this story, I don't think the sphinx meant to ever lose.
Now they need to go on a trip around the world looking for the answers 3 until "she/he will know it when she/he hears it" all the while egyptian deities, curses, monsters, consequences from leaving the temple, etc, chase after them trying to get the sphinx back.
....Expectations? Loved this, by the way. Beautiful sphinx design. And I really like the line delivery too. And that after centuries they would forget their own answer. Complacency, kids. It can get the best of us. XD
Honestly, mad props on the way the ending leaves such an interesting hook to imagine what would happen from there. Will the sphinx still attack the boy? Is she going to let him leave? Is she, herself, going to leave? What's she even guarding? How's the boy going to handle her existential crisis? I'd watch a whole series based on this.
Is the answer to the riddle a promise? A promise can be given to you or be given by you that may negatively effect you later on. But generally, you are the one that gives it power in the first place. Also just wanted to say that I loved this Sphinx's design!❤
@@kateh5057 Aa thank you! After I wrote it, I realized this riddle is a bit vague, but I decided to keep it because it made more sense story-wise. The answer I originally thought of was “name”
This made me laugh so hard. I loved the storytelling where the character jumps over the boundary, and the way that the sphinx appears is terrifying. I think this is definitely the most realistic depiction of facing one of these things, I don’t think I could think straight if my life was on the line. 😂 Luckily I think the sphinxes are pretty honor based creatures so they won’t be hypocritical enough to kill the guy if they can’t remember the actual answer.
aa thank you sm! the voices were actually (instagram) beasblues and dewosaurusart, who are rly amazing artists in their own right! i only directed them and did some extra sounds and the guide's voice haha
Oh my gosh. Yes. YESSS. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!! This seriously has so much potential to be an actual show. The character designs, the worldbuilding, the setup, the dynamics, everything! It’s all so fresh and exciting while still seeming professional enough to be an actual pilot episode animatic! I love it!! 🤩 Everyone’s been praising the ending and the premise left and right, and with very good reason! The story and cliffhanger ending really had me going! I was so invested! But honestly, I gotta pay respects to the voice acting. It may be just one person doing it for multiple characters, but each one still had a unique feeling or influx in the voice that still made it perfect! I adore the vibes I get from hearing each and every line, it all just screams “My first attempt at this, plz be nice” BUT IN A VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL WAY. In no way am I myself a professional, but I still have to say this project looks and sounds fantastic! Whatever you plan on doing with these characters and their world, I’m very willing to see it to the end! Immediately subscribing! 🥰💖
Oh my god, this is so amazing. The Sphinx forgetting the answer is the funniest thing ever. If you decide to do a series on this, where they try to find the answer, I’ll definitely watch it! The best part is, google doesn’t pull up any good results, so no cheat code. I love the animation itself, too, and how the Sphinx looks. Great work!
Wow this is fantastic!!! Instant sense of stakes and I wanted the human to survive! It's hilarious the Sphinx forgot! I've never came across that version of a sphinx in a story before! And i loooove the sense of scale and mystery when the human enters the huge room for the first time; that's a fantastic wide establishing shot!!! And it was for GOBELINS?!!!?!? no wonder you're so good!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Ouh I love how tranquil this animatic is, feels like it shows the beauty to be found in empty, quiet places beautifully. And the sphinx is magnificient.
I feel like love could the answer like while its wonky cause loved is part of the riddle, love is also is a thing between you and another person, it can be a gift that brings joy or a curse that brings misery if the other person doesn't feel the same or it's an abusive relationship, and it's also a thing that can be hated like past loves, feared (people fearing relationships and heartbreak), and loved cause you love the joy you get idk. Though i guess thats the point is theres a ton of different answers. Honestly though keep up the good work like aaa i love the art and design if the sphinx. Also imagine a part two where its just the sphinx and kid talking the sphinx learning how the world is now and them trying to search the answer to the riddle and learning some new exiting riddles along the way with the sphinx just giddy at learning more riddles.idk that just sounds cute lol.
Freedom or choice seem like answers that can work Both can be given, depending on what the situation is some may hate having a choice love it or fear it, If you do nothing with freedom then nothing changes and by making the choice you give it power through your actions
i thought relationships. people view them differently. Sometimes their a curse (toxic relationships may scar you, hence a curse), a gift (good relationships). Hate and fear can be in a relationship, or love. You give them the power depending on how your relationship with whomever it is. (back to the walls of rubicon i shall go)
This is a really cool video! I'm super excited to see more! Also, is the answer words? People give them to each other all the time. Yes, you can talk to yourself, but it's mostly between other people. And depending on if you say something mean or nice, they can be hated or loved. However, the only reason they mean anything is because humans as a collective give them meaning through language.
A riddle for you all, that I myself crafted: I do not hear, nor smell, nor see; A wretched one is a waste of me. What am I? If that's not enough; A garment for birthdays I may be, But you wouldn't go to a party in me!
Whatever the "right" answer might be, the *solution* is probably that this sphinx just wanted an excuse to eat _everyone_ who tried to solve her riddle. So she came up with a riddle for which multiple answers might apply, always intending to reveal that the correct choice was one of the other options no matter _what_ her victims said. But it's been so long that she's forgotten that was her actual purpose, so she's indeed unable to identify a specific answer as "correct", because she'd never specified one in the first place. 😏
I mean, yeah. Of course my last question would be "Wait! Before you eat me; what was the correct answer?”. To make it think it has won, only to then parrot back the answer to it. Technically I will have provided the right answer and it would need to let me pass unharmed. Rules _are_ rules, after all.
This is a great animatic! However, while I assume this isn't the final product, I feel like the experience could be made better by adjusting the audio clips a bit further forwards or backwards to fit with the timing of the frame changes. Everything else is great!
I'm sharing this with my friends to see if they can guess it. I saw one of the guesses "a Name", and I think that fits best, myself. We'll see what my friends do! Will they survive?! :}
I’ve been trying to find creative small animators…how do you guys get past UA-cam’s recommendations? Just keep constantly watching animations or something?

I'm pretty sure it's knowledge.
(Edit: which is ironic imo since she forgot)
@@norainacadso you could say the sphinx forgot their name XDDDD
Yeaaa! I got it right!

That's so silly because "life, parents, etc" so many words work in that riddle bruh
@@kerroseir4764 Many questions have multiple right answers. Why does that make it silly to decide on one?
@justseffstuff3308 that's what i said
No way! I can't believe I actually figured that out!

Sphinx: i forgor 😢

That would be so awesome! I wonder if it would be only Egyptian myths, or other types too? I’d love to see it!
the twist of the sphinx forgetting the answer is both funny and interesting

That’s so cool! Name makes a lot of sense
The problem with this sort of riddle is there are many correct answers. Parents, Life, a name, a secret, hell even a gun counts.
No you could make a gun yourself.
Honestly, the "gun" answer could be hilarious if Sphinx doesn't know what a gun even is.

Answer- don't fuck with riddle creatures. They have no reason to be fair, and riddles are ridiculously unfair anyway.
