- The brown-headed gulls are distributed across the Asia and coastal regions of the Indian subcontinent. They are found in high altitudinal regions like Jammu and Kashmir throughout the year. As the winter starts, #gulls migrate to the coast of the Indian subcontinent and Gangetic plains. They live in varied habitats such as #mudflats, creeks, brackish wetlands etc. They feed on fish, reptiles, worms, rodents etc. Gulls are also opportunistic scavengers and can be seen feeding on garbage dumps. They return to their high altitudinal breeding grounds once #winter gets over. Though they have been declared as “Least Concern” by IUCN, Habitat loss, water pollution and feeding by humans possess major threats to them.
