I have this model- runs great. I love it. I used to be a UP switchman/conductor. I ran these very type locomotives with an RCL box in the yard building trains. They were replaced in the yard with SD40-2s.
Almost sounds like you worked where i worked. I don't know if they did that system wide. In my location they gave us GP15's to do SD40 work . It took a long time for them to figure out one or two GP15's should not be pushing upgrade mega heavy trains. I'm curious how many traction motors they replaced in those units. Later came a small sprinkling of at least 1 MP15 and several MP15 A.C.'s
It looks like there's two holes where the missing sunshade is meant to go too... great review, I'm just starting into the hobby and videos like this give me an idea of what sort of trains I might add to the collection.
i think a UP or BNSF genset (or TEBC6 switcher) will really add a lot more diversity and make your layout more unique since they're often hated by railfans.
I got this one from Factory Direct Hobbies but it has number UP 1400 with Tsunami 2 Sound. It is dwarfed by my other Athearn Genesis UP 6910 DDA40X also Tsunami 2 Sound which is not a switcher. Two nice locomotives with lots of detail, hand-railings and character and still very different 🙂Cheers, Jan, Australia

its a nice switcher but will it rival my possibly 10-20 year old SW1500 that's missing some of the little grabirons and handrails its supposed to have and also barely even running?!?!

Im a conductor and my favorite feature of up units is their ability to always smell like pee. Every one of them without fail.
