I love this video, you sound amazing! I discovered something recently: sometimes very old mouthpieces such as Chedevilles, Bettoneys, Roberts etc. With 100-year-old facings or so can work with with Legeres (with their original facings). I was very confused...of course, because these old facings don't work well with most modern reeds, and they need to be refaced. But (in a way) some Legeres are closer to reeds that were used in the 20's, 30's, 40's! And that's why they pair well with these old mouthpieces. And there may be some sort of link there...why Legere succeeded when so many others failed to produce high quality synthetic reeds. Maybe they turned to these old designs for inspiration...or it's convergent evolution (because it works!).

      wow... I didn't know that!
super interesting. I have to admit I have never tried any of these brands 😅 I know them of course but we don't get access to them so much here in Israel. I hope I will have the chance to give it a try some day. thank you!

Legere reeds pair well with Vocalise mouthpieces. I've been using European Cut. I will try the new French Cut Legeres soon.

You sound great I ve gone over to Legere in the last couple of years and prefer the European and French cuts. The later is slightly softer. Do some more videos. God bless you. Bill. Uk

Bravo! I like the polycarbonate better. More volume, projection and thick sound to my hears. I wonder if it perform the same also on traditional (cane) reed. Kind regards

      Yes it does!
we are actually working on improving it for plastic reeds because canes sounds really great already

Super video! Possibly the black mouthpiece has slightly more "depth" to the tone, it sounds more "refined", I think, maybe more classical than jazz. Did you try it with a strength 4 reed and if so, was that an improvement as you suspected it could be? Thanks for the video!!

A lot of respect for people that learn and make their own mouthpieces (among other things), and not only the major manufacturers. Synthetic reeds usually have not so consistent and full upper register. At least for me. Now, about this tryout, are the mouthpiece measures the indicated for the reed that you tried? Simply put: is that the right mouthpiece for that reed? It didn't seem to be, so how can you tell if the trial went ok?

hmmm I am not sure I understood your question, but anyway I am now working with Eddie on designing a specific mouthpiece for synthetic reeds. updates soon!

@@jonathanhadas5457 Hi there. The question is: is the read strength appropriate for the mouthpiece opening? For instances, a too hard reed for a too open mouthpiece simple wont play. It doesnt matter what you try, or if it is good or not if it doesnt match one to the other. Is it with eddie daniels?

I like Vandoren BD mouthpieces with synthetic reeds; they work really well on Kanter too.

This sounds great but still not as good as a great cane reed. Overtones a the woody meat to the tone is just not there. Still very good.
