  • After blowing everyone away on the eighth season of "American Idol," Adam Lambert went on to release his debut album "For Your Entertainment" which included the international hit "Whatya Want From Me" and earned him a Grammy Award nomination. Adam followed this success with his second album "Trespassing" which became the first album to reach the number one spot in the US and Canada by an openly gay artist. His highly anticipated third album "The Original High" was his first for Warner Bros Records which was executive produced by Max Martin and Shellback and included the smash hit "Ghost Town." Adam joined the cast of "Glee "for a six-episode story in 2013 and performed the role of Eddie in FOX’s "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." He went on to judge on "The X Factor Australia" where his artist, Isaiah, won the show. Adam has been touring as the lead singer of Queen (Queen + Adam Lambert) since 2012, including two huge world arena tours which sold out in minutes and gained critical acclaim. 2018 sees Adam continuing to tour the arenas of the world with Queen, alongside recording his fourth album coming soon.

    I'm a long time Queen fan. I don't understand the hatred shown by some purist Queen fans towards this guy. To say "He's no Freddie Mercury" is to repeat something everyone already knows. No shit. No one has ever claimed that he IS Freddie Mercury or is REPLACING Freddie Mercury. He merely succeeds Freddie as being the lead vocalist. Also, some Queen fans berated Brian and Roger for choosing to continue Queen without Freddie. This is a stupid criticism. Why shouldn't they? Queen was equal parts Freddie, Brian, Roger, and John. They have every right to continue. Also, why deprive younger generations from hearing some remnant of Queen? There's no doubt this revival of Queen long after Freddie's death has definitely given a new lease of life to classic Queen tracks. Personally, I think Adam is good a character and has great signing ability. I wish Queen + Adam Lambert the best and hope soon to see them live in the flesh myself.

      Thundaga - agree completely! Wish we could do without hate from so-called "purists"! Of course he's no "Freddie Mercury", but that's not the point! He's a worthy front-man for Queen, and I don't mean that as a replacement for Freddie! What I totally respect is Brian May and Roger Taylor looking for somebody who has the vocal power and range of Freddie, and their own flamboyance/charisma to command the entire audience, as opposed to being a mere mimic! I like Marc Martell too, believe he is more than a mere mimic, and though he may vocally resemble Freddie more than Adam does, both of them have their own strengths to bring to the world of Queen.
      *For live performances:* I'd prefer Lambert (just watch him wow the crowd!)
      *For vocal fill-ins (example: when no original source exists with Freddie's voice), like for the upcoming movie Bohemian Rhapsody:* I'd prefer Marc Martell (you'd want a very close vocal resemblance to use in a movie like that). Anybody see that video where Marc performs Queen for Celine Dion, and she does a double take when she first hears his voice? lol!
      *For jaw-dropping surprise:* James Cordon. Lol I am totally joking here, but watch that clip with Cordon vs. Lambert and Queen. I was really impressed with Cordon! Got a great laugh out of the whole clip! You will too! Cordon, Lambert, Taylor, and May were such great sports!
      So I like both Adam and Marc, for these various reasons. There are more important issues to spend time argue about, than whether Adam is a good replacement for Freddie, or whether Adam is better than Marc. These are just my own opinions though, and won't knock other people's opinions that differ. Not worth wasting that energy.
      One big thing to remember though, is that people like Lambert and Martell allow what remains of Queen to perform live today. Brian and Roger won't be around forever, and after they are gone, there will be no more live performances! So I have such support and respect for Brian and Roger!

      rieyuki I agree with everything you said except that : *Only* Adam allows Bri and Roger to perform today, in fact they perform only because of him. Brian has said this in a lot of interviews. If they need a similar voice for some side derivative project they can use whomever is best suited. Adam revived the live shows in the most worthy scope and level. NO-ONE else has done that ( P. Rodgers started it but it wasn't the best match with the best results)

    Mercury was dead and the group needed a singer to replace him Adam came along and the remaining guys in the group thought he was good enough to sing all of Mercury’s songs, so he was invited onboard. So far, he has done incredibly well and Mercury up there would have been glad. And all you Queen and Mercury fans, please stop badmouthing him. The show must go on and without a singer, Queen won’t ‘function’. He said that he was not mimicking Mercury, he was Adam Lambert. So please let him do the job and enjoy Queen.. Finally, to those who don’t like him, I have this to say ‘ don’t listen ‘

    It's of course the private matter of the Lambert family but I do have the feeling that Adam was a very loved and supported child. He has so many positive assets it's almost unreal and along with his amazing good looks: how could 1 person have so many gifts? I hope this comes along with happiness in his private life, too.

      I thought so too - until I found someone who, while maybe not better, is his equal. Listen to Jung Dong ha sing Soliloquy. He is a Korean singer, started fronting BooHwal, (a Korean version of Queen), has since gone solo and can sing ANYTHING - opera, plays, ballads, rock. When I first heard him he reminded me of AL. BTW, Korean songs are amazing.

      I agree, but I think he needs better manager . He sings as Queens frontman , but his own career is a bit off. For his talent and voice he should be more famous . He could be Rock superstar and his own music is leaning towards pop because his manager thinks it sells better. It feels like he is held back and putting off his own career to be with Queen. A lot of people doesn't even know that Queen is back and has been for a while now. There should be new CD's sold with Adam , there should be bigger social media coverage for the band and Adam personally. More singles Coming out with more videos with less brakes between them. World needs to know who Adam Lambert is like they know who Pink is or Brian Adams. He deserves it.

      @@UrbanNekoDesigns I agree Adam should be a bigger star. Who is his manager anyway? I also think Adam would be a fantastic actor. That tiny scene he did in BH did not do much for him. I guess they did not want to make the movie about him they covered him up and disguised him as that trucker if they had let all gorgeousness out us Glamberts would have lost our minds I can see him being a great actor one day. Everything he does he does well. He takes his work seriously.

    Aaah so great to hear the QUEEN still continuing with Adam Lambert as the lead singer. Adam is a good singer. I believe Freddy Mercury’s spirit wouldn’t mind seeing him with QUEEN

    Just adore Adam. Been a fan since his Idol audition. I know it's silly and I know Adam is long, long over it all, but I am STILL PISSED he lost to that other guy who didn't have even a gnat's worth of Adam's talent. 😠😠 And we all know why. In today's world, Adam would have won, hands down, walking away. Wishing him all the best in Las Vegas. It looks wonderful!

    • @jenniferwidner2649
      @jenniferwidner2649 6 років тому +7

      R. McBride yessss I still think about that to this day. He's totally over it but we're over here like why?! But to be fair I haven't heard anything from the winner ..just from Adam so whose the real winner here?

    • @r.mcbride2837
      @r.mcbride2837 6 років тому +6

      I agree. I don't even remember the other guy's name, off hand. I'd have to look it up. I almost feel sorry for him. He knew he shouldn't have won. You could see it in his eyes.

    • @jenniferwidner2649
      @jenniferwidner2649 6 років тому +6

      R. McBride Kris Allen was his name. Watching the finale now is so sad I think Kris looked like he felt bad cause he knew Adam deserved it. But I'm just glad they we're both mature about it and the show must go on.

    • @jennshappyplace2731
      @jennshappyplace2731 6 років тому +2

      I have a theory which I think has been mentioned before. The producers knew as the show progressed that Adam was destined for worldwide fame. His talent is so much bigger than a manufactured TV show and an Idol contract would have held him back from what he achieved after the show finished.

    • @jenniferwidner2649
      @jenniferwidner2649 6 років тому +2

      jennshappyplace ooh I haven't heard that interesting. The only theory I've heard was Kris Allen only won cause they gave out free phones to where he was from or something and told them to vote. I'm not sure if that's true or not but it is interesting.

    I think he needs better manager and PR. I hope his new Album is more him .

      Anvi Green - Fortunately, Adam’s gonna be around for as long as he wants to be singing and performing, and I think he’s the type of artist who’s gonna have loyal fans forever...and probably be gaining new ones all the time, as they discover how amazing he is. He just keeps getting better. It’s the beauty of being a perfectionist.

    • @SaraKochanny

      This so much. He should be a rock superstar in the mainstream. Sorta like what Brandon Urie did with Panic at the Disco's latest stuff.
      His musical ability and how he understands music and makes it his own style... Just let him do that and people will buy it because he's amazing. But he's only done pop stuff really. He could do INCREDIBLE things with music and performance with his talent. His diversity was one of the best things I saw on idol

    Some people think that adam is replacing Freddie, but no one ever said that it's like that. The other members of Queen even said, that they like, that Adam is being himself and is not tying to replace or imitate Freddie, and that's why they probably choose him. Of course no one can sing like Freddie, or replace him.

    Just came across this fantastic interview. Great questions to actually get to know Adam as a person. I could listen to Adam talk all day long. He speaks so eloquently. You can tell that everything he says is true and from the heart. No hesitation in his responses. He is so humble. He doesn't try to praise himself like he is some kind of rock God. He doesn't think he is better than other singers. He praises other singers. When he does a duet with other singers he respects them and doesn't try to out sing them. He is down to earth and so honest. He has matured into a beautiful person. When he sang Believe at the Kennedy Center to honor Cher. My heart melted. He sang that so perfect and beautifully. He has my total respect as a person and performer. Thank you Adam.
