Remember that tell the differrence between serverscripting languages and clientscripting languages. Javascript can be run on both ISS and Apache servers, because it is clientbased and is therefore first executed when it reached the client. PHP and ASP are serverscripting languages because these are getting executed/interpreted on the actual server.
Back around 1999 after playing guitar for 10 years on the road, I was totally broke, living with a girlfriend, my car was broke down, the internet was just gaining popularity... and she borrowed enough to get me a cheap IBM computer... which was about $600 for some 256mb of RAM thing or something. While looking at smut I saw all of these "Webmasters Make Money" links. So soon I was creating crappy little web pages and about 3 months later I started creating the first free daily adult video galleries. Which were soon getting posted on a lot of the biggest tgp sites everyday. A few years later I was living large in a big house, had 750,000 unique visitors a day on average and was raking in about $500 a day, sometimes $1000+ but also spending $30,000 a year on web hosting. All from my home office.. I'd get up at noon and check my stats and usually would already have made a few hundred bucks. Making money was like an obsessive drug addiction at that point. Before long though everyone and their brother were also making video galleries, traffic and sales went down and I moved on to new pastures... squandered all the money and kicked the money habit, sold the big house... That was the gold rush for me... Nowdays I do WordPress work for small and mid sized businesses.

I do not know about ISS, but in Visual Studio developer server capitalization matters. If you write default.aspx instead of Default.aspx it won't work.

Most ISPs wont let you host yoyr own web server at home. They block incoming port 80 (http) from coming to you. They want you to pay for a fixed IP addr to allow port 80 to get to your house. Check with your ISP if they will let you
