Always wanted someone to do a reaction video to this. Must feel so emotional when you have a relative who died in this war, and listening to this. I wish I could hear this song for the first time again, I can listen to it over and over.
absolutely vile removing the anti war verses I wish you could hear whet you were meant to hear' in this graveyard its still no man's land as rows of white crosses stand mute in the sand, to man blind indifference to his fellow man, to a generation that were butchered and damned'

It’s a great song. The last two verses in particular make your spine crawl. I saw Christie do this song basically a cappella in a packed club, it was amazing.
Nice reaction. I remember that being on The Late late Show here in Ireland a number of years ago. It`s a show that goes live on RTE 1 at 9.30 pm - 11.30pm every Friday night for 9 months of the year, Christy Dignam is in a band called `Aslan`. Their most popular song is `Crazy World`. Give it a listen sometime, I thing you would like it.👍
Hi Eliza, nice to hear from you again. Yes, that clip was from The Late Late Show. I had some friends here in Canada that called their band Aslan but had to change the name for legal reasons. Perhaps it was because of Christy’s band.
@@CanadianReacts Yeah, more than likely. Aslan are very popular in ireland but aren`t too well known outside of it. Bono is a big fan of them. They seemed content to just to be big here.
His send off was fantastic. Everyone from the PM down throughout Irish society made it a special remembrance. He will never be forgotten and he left us a legacy of incredible music that you should check out. RIP Christy.

Christy recently passed away sadly. legends singing a favourite since I was a child. Back in the 70's my Mum played her albums while cleaning the Gaff and I soaked it up. Christy's band Aslan is worth looking up.
I know Christy Dignam, was friends with his brother and sister all through school, he is an Irish legend and a really nice guy! He fronts a band called Aslan if anyone wants to look them up!
This is a song called "No mans land" by Eric Bogle a canny scot who has registered both names you should watch the original and "The Band played waltzing matilda" by eric as well
Is this where the lyric change began - Original lyrics "Did the Rifles fire o're ye" changed to "Did they sound the death march" Listen to the Eric Bogle Version- he is the man that wrote it.
