Lucky Ferals is a cat family vlog starring a family of formerly feral cats. Stella and her sons Splash and Simba were rescued in 2016. Her boyfriend and baby daddy Boo was rescued in 2017. Cousin Ditto and Grandma Hydrox sadly passed away in 2021 and 2022. Sammy, Nancy, Richard, Goldie, Ziggy, Ringo, and Eva were rescued in 2022. All of their journeys from feral cats to house cats can be followed in the vlog videos on this channel.

LF I want to thank you for sharing the way you cared for Ditto whilst he had cancer. Unfortunately the little tabby we were helping I took to the vet due to her having a small growth in her mouth. Yes it was an aggressive type of cancer but it was not easy to get treatment. Shadow had been microchipped but the info on record was not up to date. The rules in the UK are that vets can only provide basic care to microchipped cats taken in without the owner. Shadow was on a painkiller and anti inflammatory. The vet wanted to treat her but could not.
We finally found her owner he did not know he was missing a cat as he has so many cats and dogs. I had asked if Shadow was his cat before and he said it was not his. He took Shadow home put her in the garden and she came right back to us. He was happy enough for her to be round and me feeding her but not for us to adopt her. Shadow went down hill very fast and needed to see a vet. The last few days of her life she could not eat or drink. I was using a medicine dropper to get water in her. The last night I could not get any water in her. Shadow's face was swollen and her tongue swelled up it filled her mouth. I took her round to her owner and I insisted she needed to go the vet ASAP and he agreed at last. The vet euthanized Shadow, she was really suffering and dying which was hard to watch and do nothing for her.
The vet told us that microchipped cats not having a current address or phone number is a big problem. I'm sharing Shadow's story and asking for people to make sure the vets and microchip company have up to date info. It would not of made a difference to Shadow but it may save another cats life. It takes you a short time to do and a cats life is worth it.
So sorry to hear about the little tabby! But very happy to hear that you helped her the best that you could. It's horrible that vets won't treat cats without the "owner's" permission, especially if they know it is a big problem. Thanks for sharing Shadow's story. Hopefully, it can help other cats in the future.
@@LuckyFerals poor Cleo is having a rough time mourning her sister Shadow and crying at the door for her. I will consider another cat in the future there are so many cats in need of good homes. Shadow made the choice of trying to move in with me. Turning up on my doorstep is usually a cat asking for help I can only guess Shadow knew she was ill. She enjoyed and made the most of her life. After diagnosis of cancer she lived only 2 1/2 weeks.
I'm glad you had Ditto euthanized when you did and you did not let him suffer. It's had to watch and I had to keep trying to do something even if it was to try provide some comfort. At least she knew how much she was loved by her chosen family

In it for his reasons not the animals. I can't help it I had to say it instead of being nice . I had a animal hoarder in my neighborhood at one time. Those animals suffer, the people think they are doing good. 😢
Yes, sometimes the most we can do is provide care, love, and comfort. Thankfully, you were there to help Shadow.

We are nearing the end of flea season for this year.
But can they be dormant and come back in spring?
Fleas are absolutely horrible this yr ive got 3 indoor cats that I do occasionally take them for walks,there leash trained. But they've got fleas like crazy! I know meds that help 1 mite not help another, but got prescription flea meds that also worm them, since fleas can lead to worms in our fur babies.And ive got to get back to you on what the vet gave me,but im telling u im amazed, ecstatic, & sooooo very happy that within days ive not found a single active flea!!! And its every 3mnths as well. I wish you all the luck, i absolutely love watching all ur fur babies!!!

Hello Lady LF, you take such good care of all the 🐈 kitties and cats. A tip; when combing with the flea comb, the teeth are tight and the fur is thick. So in order not to pull the hairs which hurt, you need to set down the camera. Anchor one hand above the area to hold the skin down, and comb through with the other. This will be more pleasant for you and the cat. ❤️ 😍
the trick is to use a flea comb of the proper length and size for cats with thick and long coats. most flea combs are not made for cats who eat raw food and have fluffier coats.
I really hope you've been able to get on top of the flea issue. I use Revolution and Advocate on alternate months on Blossom. They work very well and I do it on the same date each month. I know that by the time you post a video and read the comments you will/may have tried the liquid (behind the neck) treatment, but try to make sure they can't lick it. I've been doing Blossom for years and now she knows the routine and sits perfectly still. She used to wriggle and then it would end up where she could lick it and if she did she'd freak out (like Nancy did with the Capstar) but would be fine after a couple of hours. Watching this I felt itchy and wanted to scratch. It reminded me of PTA meetings at my daughter's school years ago whenever we had to discuss a head lice outbreak. Everyone would automatically start to itch. I think it's psychosomatic.

In reality they are not "trained" to use a litterbox... they just do it b/c of their instinct to do their needs wherever they find anything similar to dirt, so they can dig, do the job, cover.
Ms. Feral, scented diffusers are toxic to our fur babies. You can google this info and find a lot of information about it. When I read how dangerous they are for my fur baby I got rid of them all. Nowadays it’s so hard to keep up on all of these things and the harm that they do to us and our fur babies. I know what a fantastic mommy you are to the cats and kittens and I know that you would want to know this information. ❤
What scented diffusers are you referring to? The Feliway are specifically made for cats.
@@LuckyFerals I was referring to regular household diffusers. I didn’t know that the ones you use are especially for cats. I am so sorry if I alarmed you. My husband wanted to use plug in diffusers and I wouldn’t let him because of what I read about them.

I'm surprised that the cats took the Capstar tablet mixed with food, I do not have any luck trying to get them to take the tablet with food. Do you know if I can crush the tablet and then mix it in with the food? I do not see anything in the instruction about not to crush the tablet.
I don't know if you can crush the tablet. The trick is to give it in a very small amount of food when they are really hungry so they eat fast and don't realize what they ate. Once they eat the tablet, they they get the rest of their food. And it helps to give it in a special favorite food that they don't get often.
I believe you can crush and mix it in. I remember reading that somewhere.
Know for sure before you do it. Some meds absolutely can not be crushed. The med is time released as it slowly dissolves. Call the manufacturer. If its ok you must make sure they eat all the food so they actually get the proper dose so only use a small amount of food.
