back in the late 1988 i started building my 67 VW Bug, i was 19 no wife no kids, so all my money went to this Volkswagen. needless to say the car was very quick, not fast, quick. i moved to Missouri from just outside of L.A. California in 1990. most the Missouri guys looked at VWs as weak and slow, tell i smoked their V8s. in town light to light it was embarrassing, u wasn't getting to 110 quicker than me.. lol i think at 70 MPH my RPMs were like 3200 on the HWY in 4th gear, it was 30 years ago. 3rd and 4th gears were shortened, that how i built it, to be quick. i love the feel of the Gs on take off, plus its a stick. all this to say i love German made vehicles.
People forget that BMW produced one of the first fully operational, daily service ready jet engines of the late 30's and early 40's....a major materials and engineering achievement.....
ISETTA DESIGN: Giving Credit Where Credit's Due. By 1952, the.engineers Ermenegildo Preti and Pierluigi Raggi had designed a small car that used the motorcycle engine of the Iso Moto 200 and named it Isetta. The Isetta caused a sensation when it was introduced to the motoring press in Turin in November 1953.
the logo first represented the image of a fast turning propeller since BMW were aviation engine makers. the blue and white bavarian colours were overlaid later.
8:15 The BMW is NOT a spinning propellor..This is a common mistake..It is actually a modification of the flag of the Bavarian Free State which is black with a blue and white check. The 'spinning propellor' logo is one if the most common misconceptions within the motor industry, and numerous website and documentaries repeat the mistake without doing any research.
Opel will DISCONTINUE the Ampera, the slow-selling rebadged version of the Volt made by General Motors sister brand Chevrolet, after the redesign of the 2016 Volt, according to two people familiar with the company's plans.
the first car built was in 1867 in canada..retain their value better?? a new benz loses half if not more than it's sticker price in the first year..hyundai and kia started out building bombs and bicycles..trans canada highway is 7821 km..i like bmw's merc's and audi 's .i respect the engineering and the looks of most.. the germans have created and introduce some revolutions in the auto industry..i have not found one that can keep up with my 66 ford ranchero..the difference is weight. my car with over 400 horses can beat all the new hot rods (north american and abroad) because my car weighs 2700 lbs..the average new sports cars weigh almost 5,000 lbs or more..
I was dissapointed, I expected to see some of those fine Teutonic automobiles with tank tracks on the sides and the handsomely designed post in the front for the machine gun.

look at european fuel prices and the price of a mercedes for taxi purpose and you'll hopefully notice that a e 200d for about 30k € is a far better deal.
disaster of german cars was electronics adding ... look at 91and under , they are perfect .. and take a look at 92 to 2017 , they are beautiful but they suck.
It appears that they just took an American documentary show like Modern Marvels a dubbed it over. At 30:00 you can actually hear the original American narrator in the background

BMW's logo is actually based on the color scheme from the Bavarian region of Germany where the headquarters is located
the logo first represented the image of a fast turning propeller since BMW were aviation engine makers. the blue and white bavarian colours were overlaid later.
That's been debunked:

IT IS a running propeller. Even the company tell us this.
1vs1? Then post a link to an official BMW statement that says so.

I remember a salesman tried to sell to me a Kapitan...he said the transmission difficult was normal - I did not buy the car.

Why is that crappy Opel brand stealing so many Buick designs ?!?!?!? I guess small brands need a bigger brand like Buick to mooch off of
Buick and Opel belong to the GM group ..
Buick isn't stealing Opel designs.
Several Buick, Saturn and even Cadillac models are designed and built by Opel.
