State and local leaders respond to Governor Newsom's Executive Order to clear homeless encampments

- An annual summit to find solutions for the homelessness crisis was held on the UC San Diego campus Thursday, the same day Governor Gavin Newsom issued an Executive Order, directing cities across the state to clear homeless encampments.
"I think housing is a human right, but there’s a corresponding obligation to use it," said State Senator Catherine Blakespear.
She hosted the summit for a second year, which included different panels on addressing the crisis.
"People should not be able to live in public spaces or wherever they want. We’ve gotten to the point where we’re tolerating it and it’s become normalized," she added.
Mayor Todd Gloria took part in the summit. He told CBS 8 the governor's order aligns with what's already happening in San Diego under the city's encampment ban.

Help the mentally ill and those who are honestly trying to get out of homelessness. The rest might complain, balk, etc. But it's part of the lifestyle to get the "move along" hint. Its called getting the bums rush. Get out. I'm in recovery so I can tell you those 'encampments' are awful.

Growing homelessness is probably because of the cost of housing so people are forced to live on the street what have you done to yourselves and if those in state and local government are so great how could this happened especially when it's not going on in other states
Newsom is never held accountable, all the tax payer dollars he’s taken, saying it’s for homelessness solutions and there has never been a way to see what he’s doing with it and definitely no action we could see in San Francisco. I left California for that very reason.

UNPOPULAR TOPIC: we have to do something about rampant methamphetamine use in the homeless population because it not only exacerbates underlying mental issues, but it CREATES them. It's not the same meth from the 80's. It's entirely different, cheaper, and damaging. Our hand off approach, while empathetic, isn't helping anything. Sure, don't be mean and throw everyone in jail and toss the key, but just watching it unfold is absurd.
If you insist on misdefining the problem you will fix nothing. We will still be talking about this in a decade.

They have done that before, they made this building for the homeless and it backfired by being full of people using it for drug dealings, prostitution, people bandalicing the place and even having people drugfed to hell and back crapping on the floors outside people they hated and that was on video.
What they need to do is figure out why is there soo many conpanies buying land for rent at ultra high prices and who are the ones allowing it along with their finances because I can assure you that 80% of them are doing back deals with the owners of said conpanies.

you can always Ship them somewhere to one singular Location in California where there are easy to access Services such as meal Lines, Rehabs, Showers, Social Services, Joh training, etc. Congregate them in one place, where Land is cheap and access is centralized then help move them into low.
