It’s amazing how she goes from True Blue to PDP; it’s like a story she’s telling in stage. She went from 1950’s puppy love and now she’s pregnant and worried and telling her dad she will not have an abortion. So creative
I love Papa Don't Preach so much, i love it especially with the live band and the little rock edge. She transitions so well between Dance, Pop, Rock and ballads. Later we can also add other genres to her music as we get to her 90s material. Such a versatile artist, dancer, songwriter, producer, singer.
This was my first tour I saw her live. I was in front of the stage and couldn't take my eyes off of her. And now...a few years later (ahem!) I am still fascinated seeing her perform.
I totally agree about Live performances, and I personally prefer Live over studio. There is just something extra special about hearing that particular artist or band live compared to studio recordings, and Madonna is an exceptional live performer. Yes there are off days and times when you're not performing as usual, but I believe she is one of the all time greats imo.
The first tour of hers I saw live in person (I was only 8), watched it in Leeds, UK. I've never missed watching her live in tour since. Got tickets to see her in a few weeks
I was there at that show too in Roundhey Park 😊. Wasn't it amazing? I was 13 and seeing her appear on stage for the first time was one of the most magical experiences of my childhood! Long live the Queen 👑
This was the first time Madonna worked with Donna de Lory and Niki Harris, and little did she know they’d make history together. Both auditioned to be background singers but under different circumstances. Donna used to date the writer of Open Your Heart. She laid the vocals for the demo that Madonna heard and followed strictly in her final recording. So when auditions opened Patrick Leonard, producer of true blue, asked Donna to participate. She said she had to sing behind Madonna, as if they were in a concert. They had to sing La Isla Bonita and Madonna was angry because she couldn’t hear Donna. Patrick said that the reason for that was they harmonised perfectly. Now, Niki was a last minute addition. One of the girls backed out so Madonna’s team requested someone with her characteristics. Niki was about to go on tour with The Righteous Brothers and was in full rehearsal. Madonna’s tour would kick off in a week. She wasn’t too keen on doing Madonna’s tour. But she learned the songs in the plane from Vegas to LA, auditioned and called the righteous brothers’s team to tell she passed the audition. However she still didnt want to learn a full show in less than a week. But the team said they couldn’t meet what Madonna was going to pay her. And so she flew to Tokyo and had her wardrobe fitted there! And this partnership lasted for years to come
Wow!!! What a story! Thank you so much for sharing how they came together. ❤️❤️ We absolutely adore Niki and Donna, so it's wonderful to find out more about their stories as well. They really made some beautiful music together. ❤️
saw her in blond ambition, was incredible, jumped around and was singing without missing a beat...MDNA was the same and at that time she was like 54..!
Loved your reaction. I liked a lot that with this journey, you take your time to talk about many subjects and you allow us to know you more. I also loved that you understood perfectly how Madonna makes us think and Talk about many subjects of society and Life. I also LOVE how you, Brenda, teaches to Emily about many things, for me it's very emotional.
So wonderful watching this video concert with you…your spontaneous swaying in sync is so infectious!!❤ This 1987 concert was filmed live from the Tokyo leg of Who’s That Girl World Tour-her first visits to Japan and Europe. This successful tour gave rise to the term “new Madonna” of a stronger and more intelligent sexual image of her, shedding her image from the Like A Virgin/Material Girl era. This tour was acclaimed as musically and technically superior to her 1985 Virgin Tour (US and Canada only) where she integrated multi-media components and artistic elements of pop music, theatrics, drama, dance/choreography, fashion, and social messaging. This tour is also remarkable for her joyful and playful vibe, when hereafter her future concerts would become more artistically spectacular and tackle more serious issues and messaging. The White Heat number (gangster theme) from her True Blue album was inspired and dedicated by Madonna to actor/dancer James Cagney (1899-1986) from his 1949 film White Heat. He played a tough guy in gangster films. She included in this song excerpts of Cagney’s dialogue from that film for dramatic effect. In 1990, Madonna would star as Breathless Mahoney in the film adaptation of Dick Tracy with Warren Beatty. Great insightful reaction from you both.
Aww, thank you so much- We're so grateful that you're here! ❤️ And, as always, we really appreciate the background and context you provide. It makes such a difference for us on this journey. Thank you. 😊❤️
I love watching your reactions! I went to see this tour when I was 14 my mom took me and it was the greatest day of my life! Where are you guys at? Would be fun to hang out and watch stuff together or have that Madonna party!
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️ We're in North Carolina, but it might be fun to plan something in the future in a central location for folks who enjoy our channel. ❤️
And here I was expecting you to be reviewing Ciao Italia…. You totally surprised me with a tour from Japan! I’ve never seen the Japanese tour before, so thank you. Madonna is hugely popular in Japan!! Despite having Japanitis. 😆 (that will make more sense if you decide to review her doc, Truth or Dare) During this song Pappa Don’t Preach, you glossed over something rather significant. They safe sex banner at the end of the song was to acknowledge the aids epidemic. Thousands of people were dying, and the President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, would not acknowledge, nor even mention the aids epidemic until 1987. Madonna herself lost half of her friends in New York. It’s all very tragic. Cut to Madonna being one of the greatest supporters of the gay community, and the aids epidemic as well. She did a lot of work for the good of everyone. Just in case you wonder why she has legions of gay fans 😁 Great review ladies, looking forward to part two.
The Who's That Girl World Tour was the first sold out stadium world tour by a female artist. Tina Turner could sell out stadiums outside of the US but only Madonna could sell out stadiums inside and outside the US. When she got to London she sold out 3 nights at the London's iconic Wembley Stadium, the first woman to sell it out and the first act to ever sell out Wembley mutliple nights of the same tour. she has gone out to sell out Wembley 12 times in total(WTG, BAT, Girlie Show, MDNA) the most for a female artist. only Michael Jackson and U2 have sold it out.more nights.
4 years into her recording career and she was already playing stadiums across the globe.
Her energy is From other Planet, in my opinion she is the BEST live performer EVER!!
Madonna is the Greatest performer in the 21st-century
She is the best live performer I have ever seen! Her energy, he stamina, her creativity, and her showmanship. Love it, your journey, and her!
Thank you! ❤️
Her first international tour and she knocked it out of the park! The Japanese LOVED her here!
It’s amazing how she goes from True Blue to PDP; it’s like a story she’s telling in stage. She went from 1950’s puppy love and now she’s pregnant and worried and telling her dad she will not have an abortion. So creative
Very true - Such great storytelling! ❤️❤️
Her energy on stage and The way she connect with the audience is only compares with Michael Jackson's live tours, queen and king of all times
I would also say her charisma and electricity are comparable to Elvis.
A Madonna Party sounds amazing!! Defo have to dress up!! 🥳
Another thing about Madonna live is she has such a kickin band!😊
The song "Papa Don't Preach" was so groundbreaking at that time, and today is still so relevant in this day and age.

This is the first tour I saw of hers! I was 12 .. I’ve been a huge fan since then ❤ I love seeing you guys discover the brilliance of Madonna ❤
Thank you! :) And thank you going on the journey with us. ❤️
The energy you can feel it
❤️❤️

'Dick Tracy' is your perfect Madonna gangster movie!

I think ciao Italia used footage from two different Italy nights and some shots from Tokyo if I’m not mistaken.
I’m always so excited to watch your reactions!!!!!!!
