  • The title only indicates the temperature on the day I went for tea, but the next night, it dropped to -41°Celcius. For the first time ever in Edmonton, an emergency alert was issued asking people to turn off all unnecessary power in order to ensure the grid stayed up! That amazes me, but I guess that's because I'm used to reading about those issues during heat waves down in the U.S., not during Arctic outflows in Edmonton.
Anyway, yes, The Art of Cake [www.theartofca...]. Edmonton still doesn't have very many tea places, and a tea tower is only available on Sundays here. I visited it on the Thursday I arrived in January, so a wee tea was my only option.
Lest you think I did not partake in the amazing sweet treats on display, stay tuned for the "After" portion at the end, where you'll see that I did a fun holiday spend, picking up a huge selection of desserts to share with family later that evening. Not a single one disappointed, though given how great the game was that weekend, I wish I had picked up the Edmonton Oilers [www.nhl.com/oi...] cupcakes . :-)
