Third ability: Smoke Dash: the Veilwright cloaks itself is smoke and dashes forward leaving a trail of smoke behind. (Retains affects of poison)
15:05 The Veilwright is an enigmatic, rare dragon that veils itself in a constant cloak of smoke. A herbivore, it consumes poisonous plants that others wouldn’t touch, isolating and weaponizong the chemicals to integrate into their cloud. A dragon with 10 extra nostrils makes the Veilwright Dragon breathing the air better and exhale smokes at it's enemy.
1:26 As elegant as they are lethal, the Scarlet Lashers weave through the sky like malignant dancers. Legend says their tail can slice a bison in two, & many Slayers bear marks, amputated limbs, and deafness from fighting these wyrms- for the lashers can emit a sound so loud that it stuns victims and leaves their ears bleeding. Perhaps the most dreadful feature however is their intelligence. Lashers will build traps, pitfalls, and other entanglements to capture and toy with Slayers. Usually this ends with the victim being impaled on a branch of their corpse tree, used to impress mates. I would have to imagine this dragon as a dangerous bloodthirsty feared villain/predator in the Jungle and the Great Grass and given him an individual name "Khan" after the Tiger from Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. Like the tiger, the Scarlet Lasher Khan has two sworn enemies in my imaginative take on Kipling's story "Ruby Gillman" the Kraken protagonist raised by the various troll clans in the Jungle, and "Grimmel the Grisly" the overarching Genocidal Poacher from the Village.(plus he too is also an enemy of Ruby while during her time in the village)
Cool. Reminds me of this book I once had that was written like Darwin's naturalist notebook, with sketches from an adventuring naturalist describing all the life and dragons he encountered on his journeys. This was years ago, though, can't remember the name but it was probably published back in the early 2000's... Good video. I love putting this channel on and falling asleep.
As a kid who grew up with a draconic mind, I asked questions about lots of different cultures different ideas of other dragons, this answered lots of my questions.
My uncle was out looking for the emerald bombardier when he had to cut his trip short because he was attacked by an inusitherium in heat! Those beasts are actually quite dangerous in spring! So best to keep your distance! Set my uncle out of the hunting game for a little over a month! His recovery was not as speedy as he had hoped lol
They do have them. They have records of a Great Kinsbane face tanking a cannonball. Judging by what is shown I'd say humans are presently in a period analogous to the Late Medieval to Early Renaissance. Dragons are clearly common enough that human cities are mentioned as being built underground. (In the Scarlet Lasher segment) And the dragons appear to be intelligent enough to learn from observation. Inferring they have a sense of object permanence. The main issue with fighting dragons would be that they have many advantages. 1. Flight. 2. Size, speed and strength. 3. Deadly breath weapons ranging from flash melts steel to rot shotgun or electric shock. 4. Thick scales and hide, with some cases being exceptionally so such as the Great Kinsbane and Hullbreaker. 5. Their intelligence. Dragons do get killed despite this, but the teams of slayers still tend to take heavy casualties. Any fight with a dragon is likely to end with death or maiming. While a dragon fighting humans can learn if it survives and is less likely to suffer significant injury. Most dragons will attack from above and besides a shield you don't have a whole lot of options. Attacking from range with a crossbow would be ideal, but you'll be shooting upwards and have to account for its speed, the range, the elevation and the power of the bow. Most shots won't connect at all or will have minimal effect past a certain range. Reloading a weapon good enough for the job will take too long. Around 30 seconds using a goats foot to winch a good war crossbow. Then you need to remove the goats foot, replace the bolt and ready the weapon again to aim. Ammo is also a limited resource. If you're in a fortified position you can hide and reload. But it can also leave or breathe fire into your hiding place. It won't just stick around to be plinked at. And some such as the Hullbreaker will likely come through the walls or roof to get you. Poison could work but you need a delivery method and they are both large and seemingly quite hardy creatures. If you're especially unlucky it may even figure it ate something bad and vomit it up. Or it could smell/taste the poison and just not eat it. Most methods to kill dragons would require a team of trained individuals armed and armoured, aware of the type of dragon, with a terrain advantage and a tactical advantage. Polearms, spears, crossbows, axes and warhammers would be wise. Shields would be very useful in most cases to at least take the brunt of the breath. With armour swinging between covering as much surface area as possible;to staying light and ideally wearing treated wool that's somewhat resistant to flames at minimum.
Its just that writers of fantasy worlds tend to either over estimate or underestimate humans severely. If the humans indeed reached the Iron/Steel age as those drawing imply then those dragons are only to be found in zoos for the most part.

8:35 Snakes don’t actually unhinge their lower jaw to expand. Their lower jaw is just connected by very flexible connective tissues to the upper jaw and is also split in half, which allows snakes to open as wide as they can.

They are probably my favorite dragon, they’re so unique and dangerous and stealthy
And unpredictable too, with their flammable slime that is shot out of their tails
And like, not the tip of their tails, the *middle most* part of their tails, which is colored bright yellow-green to warn creatures and humans about their deadly and surprising weapon
Also, something unrelated to the black blisterwhips, is how I love that they made other unique creatures that are built/bred to counter, attack, and survive against dragons, like the king hound which has less fur to make it less flammable than a normal dog, and are bred to be bigger and stronger to be able to stand a chance against most dragons and even kill some dragons
Pls do more of this type of videos like dragons and stuff, i like it.
This feels so nostalgic, really reminds me of How To Train Your Dragon, loved every bit of it, please, hopefully you'll cover more this
i honestly love how for something so clearly in the fantasy genre, it incorporates real world animal behaviors and explanations for how the dragons act. great worldbuilding!
A very good video !
I love these kind of projects, the ones on the nets like this one.
Because knowing they are made by one single very great artist person is really amazing and respectful by itself !
The worlbuilding, scientific accuracies that make realisticay viable such fictive lifeforms, the story, the graphism/draws etc...
A very lot of work, like for all the others spec evo project that the channel have covered, done in a very long time and who continue even currently, is very incredible to see !
You should make a part two to this since there have been so many new dragons and non dragon creatures added onto this world
I like the adaptation of the animals that defend themselves from dragons
good video
btw i love your typ off content with all this documentary style i just love it keep up the good work my man. 👍
Please consider making speculative biology videos on Phoenixes, Three-legged crows and Qilins.
Considering how I'm following a few dragon survival games in development, YES I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE DRAGONS!
Lee draws some real fucking amazing stuff, real inspiration for sure
Great video! I hope you have considered doing a biology video on the creatures of The Eternal Cylinder.
Never thought i'd see Sawyer's project on this channel, but i am pleasantly surprised!
I especially appreciate the creative names!
I've always really enjoyed the idea of mythical creatures redesigned as realistic animals that retain their fantastical abilities through weird biology. It's always really cool to see what solutions different people come up to stuff like how dragons would breathe fire or acid in real life.
We need a part 2 cause he has much more dragons now
This needs to be a game I’ll buy it.
The creature design and world building is so amazing. I really like how horrifying the dragons seemed, imagine one breaking into your home. Also the fact that the dragons don’t take all of the spotlight is very nice. Having realistic adaptations In normal animals makes a lot of sense when they worry about being hunted by huge flying lizards
everything about this feels like it should belong in a soulslike game. From Transforming weapons to Fighting against Dancing abominations-- God, it'd be fun to play.
I love these, they give off major monster hunter vibes
Veilwright move set for a game (that doesn’t exist):
M1: Claw Combo: a three hit combo that does decent damage
First ability: Smoke Screen: once used the Vielwright will produce a cloud of smoke that makes it impossible for anyone to see them, while using their superior senses to catch them off guard (lasts 15 seconds, you get beast-o-vision if you know what I mean)
Ability two: Scavenge: the Veilwright scavenges for a myriad of poisonous plants, depending on what they find their First and third abilities will have a different special effect
(Lone-wart: Disables one move randomly once they enter the fog
Dead-leaf: once they enter the fog they will stunned for 2 seconds completely BUT the fog has a higher start up
Throat oat: The fog now does very small continuous damage after entering and disable in game chat.
Third ability: Smoke Dash: the Veilwright cloaks itself is smoke and dashes forward leaving a trail of smoke behind. (Retains affects of poison)
We Need This As A Movie!
I would love to see a continuation of your monster hunter series!
This video took me into a fascinating alternative universe... thank you so much, it was wonderful. These dragons are amazing.
I love this so much. The designs are amazing! How can I support the making of this book? This is absolutely something I want in my library!
Would love a video on How to Train your Dragon, surprisingly one of the best speculative biology franchises on the planet
Have you seen this channel? Htyd is good but not one of the best
I found that artist a while ago, but searching in the twitter account to find dragons is a nigthmare, thanks for the video
More dragons are always good.
I agree
I wanna see “Biology Of Made In Abyss” next because the abyss has soooo many creatures worth exploring! Corpse Weepers are my favorite!
These illustrations are incredible!
Now that I think of it, veilwright would be pretty good for the environment,
Poisonous weed growing out of control? Relocate a veilwright to the area
As a kid who grew up with a draconic mind, I asked questions about lots of different cultures different ideas of other dragons, this answered lots of my questions.
This is giving me strong Monster Hunter vibes and I love it!
Sawyer’s gotta make this into an actual physical book. I’d buy that shit ASAP.
This feels like a "How to train your dragon" book and I love it
It’s interesting how projectile weapons seemingly were never invented by humans in this world
Maybe they have them, but the dragons hides are too tough or thick for standard projectile weapons short of siege engines
1. Flight.
2. Size,speed and strength.
@@mllhild bro by the time we would have made kingdoms and these fucks showed up my bloodline would not wxist even if we had 16th century tech, good luck aiming scattershot or grapeshot at flying dragons with poison smokescreens without peppering an entire street of people
@@mllhild medieval zoos with fire/explosion proof cages??
I love world building projects like this. The dragon designs are awesome and I love how they share common features, suggesting there are evolutionary trees and such which is a cool detail. Plus the world building is done perfectly. It gives off how to train your dragon vibes (which is already a pretty good movie) but kinda takes it to a new and interesting level. Thanks for sharing this CA, your work does not go unnoticed!
Great video once again. Great job!
From what was explained about the it doesn't seem like a scavenger but more like a generalist predator instead as "Scavengers" eat exclusively corpses or refuse. And as they actively hunt prey unlike other scavengers.
I love this channel
The hull breaker is my favorite, literally a walking (sometimes gliding) tank!
The Biology of the Creatures reminds me of a Mix of "How to train your Dragon" and "Dragon hunters".
Good old child hood memories...
These videos are just amazing, the narration is just on another level.
Amazing intro, as always, keep up the good work!
Im glad i live at the right time to see things like this gain traction. Great work as always.
You should DEFINITELY do a video on Hollow Knight! It’s such a good game and even has a mini-guide to all of the creatures in it in-game!
This reminds me of Dracopedia: a field guide to dragons. One of my favorite books as a kid, and one that I haven't thought of in about 20 years! Thank you for reminding me. Also very cool project.
DRAGONS!!!!! LETS GOOOOOOO!!!!!
I love listening to this when I need to get some sleep; it's just that listening to endless ramblings can calm me down even during a monthly panic attack! 👍
10/10 would listen again.
You should cover the biology of realistic kaiju project next
Now these are some kickass designs!
"Super heated glass" ngl that's a new one
I would love a game where you can just randomly encounter these beasts in the wild or hunt them for materials that would be an amazing game if done right.
8:35
Snakes don’t actually unhinge their lower jaw to expand. Their lower jaw is just connected by very flexible connective tissues to the upper jaw and is also split in half, which allows snakes to open as wide as they can.
I would LOVE to see a biology on Deep Rock Galactic!
What could possibly have resulted in spider-like creatures evolving on an asteroid- why did they evolve such heavy armor and sharp fangs?? What horrors forced such adaptations.
Fantastic video as always!
