Morei um ano no Rio, Niterói e depois Madureira, vendia artesanato na Tijuca junto com o pessoal, ambulantes que vendiam de tudo, sou de SP e sobre o que falam de rivalidade entre SP e Rio, eu não vi nada disto, pelo contrario a gente zoava muito e no fim do dia ia todo mundo num bar tomar umas geladas , cachaça, torresmo...se puder vai pro Rio mas não fique preso a um pacote de turismo, sai na cidade e vai conhecer o pessoal, muito bom

I would have loved to have visited Rio de Janeiro during the 1960s when samba and bossa nova were popular. One of my favorite movies, “Grand Slam” starring the famous American actor Edward G. Robinson, was filmed in Rio during Carnaval in the 1960s.

They're the wonderful-devilish "pedras portuguesas", "Portuguese Stones" as we call them here. We have a relation of love and hate over them. Love because they're traditional and hate because they're always in bad shape, missing stones, lots of holes causing accidents. Beautiful but impractical for intense traffic of people. They're spreaded all over Brazilian cities, it's one of the more traditional things about Brazil and what makes us closer to Portugal, apart from the colonial buildings.
Sometimes I wonder if there's a city in Brazil without Portuguese Stones sidewalks.

Somehow the people seem quite relaxed. I am from germany and stayed 3 weeks in Rio in 2015. I noticed it also back then, that people are slower and more relaxed. And the streets and shops in ipanema seem so like germany in the 1980s...it‘s somehow back in time and not as modern. I mean how the shops look like and are designed. But well, that doesn’t matter.
Talking about what you said on the video: Brazil is a third world country,but is not too poor like the most africa countries and some latin America countries,thats why you see a lot of good areas in all Brazil. Even in the favelas the most people a poor,but in a some very poor countries they can be considered lower middle class for example,many people from favelas has new cars and worthy houses.

brazil is a mixed country, a lot of different cultures on the same place
rio de janeiro is mostly a mix of portuguese and central african. also many immigrants from the north east(african european and native).
our culture is quite african, the portuguese(white cariocas) loved mixing with black people and still do to this day. thats why the black guys have hairy arms😂😂 and the white women have butts and cheeks sometimes
