It's impossible to put into words how it felt, as a 15 yr old lad, to be stood on the Kop that day...!!!
Must've been brilliant, I envy you.
@@vaitalv9361 totally agree...once in a lifetime event
I was also 15 years old and in the Kop that day. April 28th 1973. Great day in Liverpool's history. Cannot believe that was 46 years ago !!
Holdyour Plums same I was there that day stood next to the guy in the white shirt
MAn shitty wish they had these despite all their billions of blood and oil money they'll only ever have the emptihad
I was there that day 12 years old brilliant
"This is the man they love"
Bill Shankly, in memoriam
"He Made The People Happy"
Excuse me, imma shed my tears now
I’m a Derby fan and we were Champions the season before, I admire the Liverpool fans and Shankley UNBREAKABLE BOND ⚽️✌️
The Kop stand is fantastic...from Perugia Italy
sir Shankly, thank u for all u did for LFC!!! YNWA
This man Shankly pure Quality !
Sending love and respect from Argentina YNWA 🇦🇷
Fuck!! the standing Kop looks amazing, terrifying, but amazing!
It was
It held near 30,000 standing. When Liverpool scored you would always be pushed forward. So where ever you started off, you never ended the match being stood there haha
He was so revered. The way the opposition players want to shake his hand.
Shankly one of the greatest managers ever
Great managers built teams from scratch I can only think of four that really did that Shanks, Revie, Matt Busby and Clough, your modern day manager can only build teams with money.
@John Cornell Yeh I agree with there he's a top manager.
@@mick6370 Klopp as well
I loved Liverpool since I was a kid. I'll always be a red.
And we shall never walk alone
Shankly pure genius. Great man love him to bits. Wish those days were back. Not like nowadays full of self conceited overpaid twats. And I'm not a liverpool fan. You'd of gone to war for that man. True footballing great.
1:43 "Don't you do that. That's precious". Respect
"that's someone's livelihood"
shanly, one of the most incredible men to ever live
Wonderful stuff. I'm a Londoner and QPR fan, but have to admire this. I only wish fans of all clubs could understand that it is possible to support your club with passion without hating. We're all fans and the hatred is just stupid and demeans us all. Man U fans and Liverpool fans could love their cities and clubs but respect their rivals...why not? Bet Lennon would've said that!
They need to bring back standing in the terraces.
Uncle Meat we tried that , and we couldn’t be trusted not to behave like dirty scums bags. It only takes a few hundred to spoil it for us all
In Germany we still have it and it doesn‘t make Andy trouble. There are Even stadiums like the ohne from Union Berlin were 18.000 out of 22.000 places are standing
To right incredible, shameful seated stadiums they did it to exploit fans take the fun away , put richer family types in fuck the working class and its traditional support, I've been loads of Terraces perfectly safe, The way they exploited Hillsborough was shameful excuse to turn the game into what Murdoch, Thatcher , all the vile corporate corrupt authorities wanted , that's what's got now for years we did nothing to stop modern football in its vile tracks
@Daniel Evensen I think it's incredibly interesting, it's like a religious cult, swaying and chanting...the way a song breaks out as if by telepathy. Now this is gone, what replaced it?
@@yippyialeftside8351 I have a suspicion that Hillsborough wasn't an accident. It was done purposely so that, as you've said, it would take away the game from the working class locals, break their traditions, break their spirit, and put the game in the hands of the really wealthy. I stopped going to the games about ten years ago, the Kop (except for a tiny section) is now just full of tourists from all over the country and world, most don't even know the songs (especially the old songs) and are just their for the "experience" to say they've been in the Kop on matchday.
The Kop, the old Kop, was made into all seating after the 1994 season. This was done for safety, apparently. But, that was five years after Hillsborough...In those five years, how many people died on the Kop? Before Hillsborough how many died on the Kop?
People have been conned big time by these corporate interests. The game nowadays isn't worth watching and the Kop (except for major European nights) is a sham. The way they sing You'll Never Walk Alone is a disgrace - more like a rap these days, it's like people can't wait to get the song out and it's always out of tune, rough as fuck. If you watch back YNWA in the 60's and 70's the crowd sing it like they mean it. The clip of the Kop singing the Beatles brings a tear to my eye every time I watch it. Something so cohesive, loving, safe and light hearted about it - it's a reflection of the times.
Shankly lives forever
We made it 6 Bill and absoultey none of this would be possible without what you did for the ppl tbe city and the club. I never got to see you or witness the kop worship you but you are immortal and so is LFC, love this club
Before my years, like many of you.
But nice to see the man whom made liverpool, come out and show respect for the kop, something he knew was very important to liverpool.
Pride of Scotland ,Honourable Proud Scouser The man the Kop sing "Shankly".Still today 2021 they sing Shankly ,banners, scarfs donning great man's face .Shankly Gates like my Glasgow Rangers gates every true Red True Blue when attend first game the ritual is photo stood in front off the Gates (like Shanks stand true & strong they're better than any statue) Shanks the only manager Brian Clough said with warm smirk & sparkle in his eye had his total respect "He's a One Off Never be another like Shanks " " Loved Shanks like a Father " another Clough interview comment . Even shocked Cloughs players after game in dressing room was giving his opinion when knock at door ,players held their breath expecting Clough to let rip at person knocking his door No Come on in Bill let you speak to them Players said left that dressing room 10 feet fall ,cheers out in total awe after Shanks spoke .Another Masterclass stroke by Cloughie .
Shanks, unlike most of our 'leaders' today was a man of the people. Total respect for the great man, I wish I was born during his time or better met him in person.
Never fails to make me cry the crowds singing this !
Jurgen Klopp for the Kop!! Bravo bravo!!
And now it’s nearly over 😢
The old Kop looks amazing.
Shankly was adored by Liverpool people.
*is
Please, just look at that. Tears. The best supported team in the world.. give us a stadium, 100 thousand plus supporters every week ,😊💕luv them . Ynwa.
@John Cornell we need a bigger stadium, but at anfield, turn it into a 70.000 capacity, too many people who cant get in the match for love nor money.
@John Cornell We would fill 60000 easily
Well its going up to + 60,000 now bout time too. It should be way more than that. Our Kop gotta be on at least the same capacity as spurs 17,500 kop end
Brian Johnston :- Sorry mate but you're not the best supported team in England, so you can't be the best in the world now can you? In the last 45 years or so the same club in England has ALWAYS been the best supported no matter what League they were in. Well before Corporate bollocks or all-seater, shite stadiums. The club the fans wanted to watch because of the entertainment on the park and the unique atmosphere and we ALL know where that is!!!!
Very unique chants the sound is very unique today's whilst beautiful is not the same
english clubs would be nothing without scottish managers.
And Scottish players !!
No club appreciates that more than Liverpool. We love our Scots
Kinda true still
Shanks, Fergie, Graham. All Scots who brought special moments to the 3 biggest English clubs.
Utter b-ll-ccs !
Sheffield United Fan. The 70s was a great era with the great Bill Shankly and his brilliant Liverpool team.
Shankly - The King of football managers never to be forgotten.
out of this world amazing i'm still stunned
Bill Shankly the Legend !
1959 the great man arrived at Anfield and an amazing journey was about to begin. What a legacy Shankly left
He made the most successful English club in history today. He started it all.
Very select few are called legends. Shankly was a legend amongst the legends
The world can't produce men of his caliber any more
Klopp
We won the league, we won the league, e-aye-addio we won the league.
Respect from santos fc brazil
All hail the greatest manager Liverpool football club ever had he might not have wone as many trophies as some others did but he put this greatest football club on the map & put the fear into any club coming to anfield bill shankly is Liverpool YNWA
I want this moment again,please
Brilliant day. I was in the middle of the Kop that day with my mates.
Unforgettable YNWA
Proud to be a part of liverpool supporters
The best supporter in the world

We'll celebrate again this year!
Tears in my eyes...
Incredible stuff
Sad to think that as that was 44 years ago a 16-year-old then would be SIXTY NOW !!!!
Isleofskye
Nothing to be sad about. I was 8 then and still an LFC fan.

You'll Never Walk Alone 🏆💞
Atmosphere in English football died with the drinking culture. Now EPL football is an expensive entertainment that draws sober fans to the show. You can blame tourists all you like, but local fans are as sober as the tourists. Real fans are in the pubs, enjoying themselves. Today we discourage drinking from the game to accommodate family and discourage hooligan. But just as political correctness hurts literature, anti-fan culture hurts football. Now everyone is as sober as fuck. No more joyous singing and jolly merry making on the stand. Expanding the stadium won't help.
German football has the best atmosphere in Europe. Not because they have the biggest stadium, forget the Yellow Wall and all that. They were proper fans because they know have to have a good time.
They also have safe STANDING !
Psychologically it's much more difficult to sing en masse while seating.
Then some stand,sone hesitate,some stay seated...mess !
Couldn't agree more mate.
Could NOT have put it better myself ! :)
Yeah, music after goals and choreographed celebrating. Great atmosphere... German football's is a ruined, corporate behemoth just as much as everywhere else.
Well Said !
Been everywhere in Europe, nothing will ever match Britain of the 70'80'90' (lived in England in them days). Coming from Anderlecht
If ever a Manager was adored by his Supporters it was Bill Shankly.R.I.P.
The best.

LIVERPOOL ARE A GREAT TEAM AND GREAT PEOPLE DONT LISTEN TO THAT MUG BELOW AND IM AN ARSENAL FAN ALL ME LIFE
THERE,S NOT MANY OF US LEFT
I was there great day's on the kop it's sad it's gone
I wasnt born 2 c shanks but my dad was only able 2 c a glimpse of him at da time but i tell what i would have loved 2 meet da man. He carries a legacy that will always be there. He was da man who brought da club from rags 2 riches. People speak of alex but also "sir" alex ferguson as the best manager of all time. If u ask me there was a man long before him. And his name was Bill Shankly!!
Thank God for men like Shankly
please do this! make a new history moment! be part of it! YNWA
Bill shankly we love you!
Shanks, the players and the Kop
defines community.
Anfield power!
Quality Liverpool YNWA
Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankly have you heard of the Northbank Highbury, Shanks said no I don't think so but I've heard of the Annie Road Aggro!!!!! A genius, a man of the people, and above all and he always will be- a God. The Bill Shankly boys live on!
Absolutely correct
We won the league, we won the league ayo diadio we won the league. Champions of England, 2020
All-seater stadiums, along with a ton of other 'innovations' since the creation of the premiershit, killed the game for me
Imagine a time machine to relive these tales our older family members told us of.
My dads favourite was always the visit of celtic in the 60s, that would have been an atmosphere to remember forever!
I can't wait to the end of the season 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
want these days back ...
I as there on the Kop. Wonderful. It was against Leicester - 0-0
Is that the sweet silver song of the lark that I hear?
true fact right there
we played them the next year in the FA cup final and we got played off the park but when LFC lift the cup listen to who you can hear singing and what they're singing.
Woooow
I’m really wishing that FSG is having a great thought of bringing this one stand back to the original but with modern tech for safety reasons. The Kop Stand;that’s one of the basic root of why I’ve fallen in love and supporting Liverpool in the first place.

Well have £5 @ 60/1 on Manchester City right now on Betfair and you can't lose.
Liverpool are 1/33 ON !!!!!!!!!!
We won it again
Imagine this may after 30 years ynwa
Well it’ll be june but still
Was rough wasn't it in hindsight
Hopefully i see this moment before I die , 30 years of waiting , come on Liverpool
😉
shankly they have taken you away but you left a greate eleven!
That was when the spion kop was the spion kop. during the 70's if you wanted a pee you would roll the liverpool echo up & pee inside it, there was no way you could get to the toilet in time, it was always too packed, it was also the best workout known to man, you used all your strength just to to stay on your feet, you'd leave there knackered, LOL peace & love to glasgow celtic, we'll never forget that charity game at parkhead after hillsborough, YNWA
scouserla1 during the 70s when I was an anfield regular Me and my mates would always get seats at the front of the kop behind the goal, it was very hard to turn around when you’ve got over 20,000 people stumbling up and down the stand, but when I managed to turn around or look behind me there was the amazing sight of the entire kop swaying, it was almost like the ocean. The advantage obviously of being towards the front is that you have less people in front of you so it was easier to have a piss. It was these moments that you just never forget especially the roar and atmosphere. It saddens me that the kop May never be like this again
When Celtic were in need of help in 1984 after Uefa wrongly ordered them to replay the tie v Rapid Vienna over 150 miles from Glasgow was it Liverpool who came to their assistance?
@@KryptonitetoallBS Why you so obsessed with Liverpool?
@@KryptonitetoallBS It was played in Old Trafford due to capacity issues.
@@tomellis4324 It was played @ Old Trafford because Manchester United offered their ground to Glasgow Celtic and the relationship between the 2 clubs was so strong in that era 👍
What a great man #YNWA

Wow. Difficult to know who admires who. Enough said.
A Liver bird upon my chest
Great celebration, the only one that beats it is when Chelsea celebrated after winning the FA Cup replay against Leeds at Old Trafford in 1970.
dont forget to check out The Shankly Show @ The Royal Court Liverpool 8-17th October.
Jurgen and the KOP celebrates the 19' Premier league. ❤
I was there I. The kop paid at the turnstiles .kop was unbelievable. The atmosphere was fantastic everyone swaying in singing .now you don't get any swaying all the fans sitting in their little comfortable seats.thats why the atmosphere at anfield is crap these days.only the privilege allowed to see the reds live.and the rest of us can go and swing.at least we can say we were on the kop in the great times.
Klopp will bring the fans back
And Tiger Woods thought he was the man to wear the red shirt on the winning day. What a mug, Shanks was the one and only.
19th coming In'sha"Allah this season
Mesmeric!!
On the pitch that day
Is that Keith Weller waiting to shake Shanks's hand. Two true gentlemen of the game.
it was bill shankly that walked on lol !!!!
