Greatest thing imaginable!!!! This is such a neet tool, you can now really get into some larger sized work with much less problems with pixelation! The plug in is worth its weight in gold! Thank for the demo George! Rich
You're welcome Rich, I don't use the Elements+ plugin that much because I also have Adobe Photoshop, but for anyone lacking that more expensive program the Elements+ plugin is a great addition to PSE.
Pretty cool, George. There's a lot to experiment with here while figuring all the tools. Hoping you will be doing more with this plug in for Elements. I'm guessing you will. These additions are great for Elements. Thanks for the tip!!!
Even with Elements Plus, Photoshop Elements is very limited in its ability to use Photoshop Smart Objects. I would not expect good results in going back and forth between those programs, you may get lucky but probably not.
Awesome video. I really enjoy the Elements + information. It is such a wonderful plugin. Also great info about smart objects. I thought it was odd you couldn't do anything to that layer as long as it was a smart object. I'm glad to know the reason for it now.
Thank you, George. I did not know anything about plug-ins before watching this video. I was wondering what the Elements Plus text tool does. Can you do a video on that, please?
Hi Sandy, good idea. I will add that to my list. In a nutshell, select some text in your project and then click on the Elements+ text tool. It brings up a new window with several text control options. One of the best if you don't have PSE 2020 is a tracking function. If you don't select some text first then you get options to create text on a shape or along a path. Both things that can be done normally in PSE, this is just another way to do that.
Thanks for doing the vid, George - much appreciated. I often use the Elements+ plug-in for mock-ups, replacing smart objects in the mock-up with my pic, but I do manage to screw it up from time to time. Can you do a vid about replacing smart objects with your own pic? Not sure whether to make a pic a smart object first, before replacing the smart object that comes with the mock-up. Or simply try to replace the SO with the pic. Thanks, again!
@@HTGGeorge Many thanks. I assume that you then just delete the smart object that comes with the mock-up, as the SO you brought into the mock-up will take its place. Come to think of it. if that is the case, then you don't really need Elements+ to do this as the Place command will handle it.
That's right. Elements+ is really useful if you want to turn an existing layer into a smart object, or if you want to apply filters to a smart object. But if all you need is to bring a picture into the file as a smart object PSE can already do that with the Place command.
Nice video, However you can also make a smart object just open or duplicate the file and the drag it from the panel to the New File and it adds as smart object. No need for it to create another physical file, it just remain encapsulated in the PSD.
Hi George With your skills you could build amazing texture packs for Minecraft.Have you ever considered that? You could add a small fee like other people do. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks Paolo, I have given some thought to doing my own texture packs but right now I am focused on just building a Minecraft audience which is what I will be doing for the rest of this year.
You can do both...people go nuts for a good texture pack and that could be a good way for you to build that audience :)Start small like the ores first and build from there slowly so you have time for making and editing the videos
Actually I'm finding it hard to find enough time just to do the new Minecraft videos. After all I have my whole DVD training company to run. So, next year for the texture packs.
@@paulop.7421 You'd be surprised. The one I am just finishing up right now and will be posting in an hour or two took me a day to research, 45 minutes to record and almost an hour to edit. And it is only a 14 minute video which will most likely bring in about $5 a month unless it does really well. And that's why most of my time is spent on my DVD training company, that pays the bills.
I have a mock-up I bought online and it uses smart objects. I’m having a problem following the instructions included because they assume the user is using photoshop not PSE. Will this plug in help me to use that mock-up? I’ve spent quite a bit of money on this mock-up and really need to be able to use it!
Unfortunately you usually can't use Photoshop mockups in Photoshop Elements, they reallly are different programs. Thsy look simiilar, but they are different. Even with Elements Plus you will probably not be able to use the mockup. That is why I always recommend that if you are doing work professionally, for a job, or for something to sell you really need to be using Adobe Photoshop and not Photoshop Elements. PSE is a great program and it is a lot of fun to work with, but it isn't professional.
You can do that for the jpeg file but not for the raw photo in Photoshop Elements. That is because PSE can't actually work with raw photos. To use a raw photo with PSE you need to use the camera raw editor by using Open in Camera Raw, but that opens the image in a separate app that is just accessed by Elements. Once it is sent into Elements it is no longer a raw file. With the jpeg, two ways to do that, one is to use the Place command in the File menu to Place the jpeg file into another project file, it will be placed as a Smart Object Layer. The other way is to use the Elements+ plugin with the Layers module. Open your image, open Elements+ in the Effects panel, choose option 3 which is Layers, then choose Convert to Linked Object. Elements+ will save the layer as a new psd file and then link back to that, now the layer is acting as a Smart Object Layer which only means that it links back to an outside file.
Dude do u have a email I literally just need a question answered and I can't find it out in nun of your videos they all start with the photo in the main background. Idk how to do it and need

thank you. Will smart pbject files created in photoshop work in photoshop elements (+elementsplus) and vice versa?

make a video for a group layer
Hi, all you need to do is to select the layers you want in the group then hit the layer group button at the top of the layer panel

Hi Bart, if you use the Place command when bringing the picture into your mock-up the image will be placed as a smart object. Then resize as needed.

How did u get the ginger girl into the background with the lock on it.
When you open a new image into Photoshop Elements it automatically comes in as the background layer with a lock on it.
How do you create a smart object from jepeg or raw photos in PSE 2020

Hi Jonathan, just go to the File menu, click on Open and find your photo on your hard drive.
