Wait, how does it work with the phone? Does it charge the phone? Or are you saying that you can dock your phone like a Switch and get a picture onto your television?
Does this still allow 1080p at 60fps just like the regular dock? if so then this purchase is pretty much a no brainer for a portable and more convenient dock
Yes it does. The Genki Covert Dock is also a great option. It doesn’t have all of the bells and whistles of the Jumpgate but it’s quite a bit smaller. Thanks for watching!
Still works! I find Genki’s Covert Dock Mini to be a little more practical for travel, but if you like the form factor of the Jumpgate, it’s still a great dock. I regularly use the Jumpgate core for extra ports on my MacBook
So I used this dock for 3 months. Didn't brick my switch. But this dock suddenly stopped working after 3 months. It only charges my switch but for some reason doesn't connect to my TV anymore.
That’s odd. I wonder if one of the recent Switch firmware update changed something? I do know there’s the option to update the Jumpgate firmware if needed
@@NeiltendoPower I did also update the jump gate to the lastest firmware and that didn't fix it. It is very strange. I reached out to skull n co. Support, hopefully it can be fixed lol
How well does this fit in the max carry case? Going to pull the trigger and buy one, if it can fit the under the switch with extra room for skull n co’s charger.
That’s a great question and I hadn’t tried it out. Just did and it fits perfectly in the center compartment under the Switch. It takes up about 2/3 of the space so I think the charger should fit too. If you do go for it, don’t forget to use my code at checkout to save a little. Thanks for watching!
@@NeiltendoPower I was looking for the same answer. About to buy this dock with the max carry case. But I also use Hori split pads. Any idea if the switch with splid pads would fit in the max carry case too? Thanks

@@JTHKG_MFM it does charge the switch lite, in addition to that the USB ports are functional and allow you to connect controllers or other USB peripherals.
This product seems cool and all. But I have no reason to buy this. I’ve never had a problem with my dock not being portable enough. Is the appeal seeing your switch? Or something else I’m not getting. I’m genuinely curious, not hating on it.
All good, I think it's more about being able to use it with a grip or wraparound case, and I've definitely enjoyed using my Genki Covert Dock while traveling instead of having to disconnect my main setup. Definitely easier to just toss this in a bag
@@Torothebronxbull That's a pretty good case you made for this thing. I was wondering why anyone would want this thing too, especially being that the skull and co grip fits into the regular dock.
look, i didnt buy it but from what i saw it has the possibilty to brick your switch in the future, and the only way to be 100% safe is buying the original one, and if you want a more portable one you can buy a little "shell" and use your pieces from your original switch dock and adapt it into this shell, this "shell" name is called basstop portable dock (remember im not sure about anything i say and read everything about this "shell" before buying because it might not be what you are looking for)
They're not going to stop working after firmware updates. That is a lie spread by people after the Nyko dock incident, the reason that happened after the 5.0 update was due to the increased power draw from background updates and services that were introduced in the 5.0 firmware update.
Any decent USB PD power supply will work just fine with it so long as it's rated for 45 Watts or more. If it's less than 45 Watts it's likely the switch won't output video over HDMI. I use a 65 watt laptop charger from an old Lenovo laptop on mine. Although I don't really use my skull & Co dock that much anymore since I have the Genki covert dock which is its own power brick.
This company actually went through extensive testing to make sure that their dock wouldn't damage systems. It's designed to be very close to how the original one works.
I can definitely understand the concern, but I've been using my Covert Dock for years with zero issues. The problem with early third-party docks was that Nintendo hadn't published the power-delivery schematics of the official dock, so there was some guesswork going on. Now that the info is public, I think most third -party docks are pretty safe
@@NeiltendoPower I don't criticize or blame you, don't worry. If you've had 0 issues then yeah keep using it no problem, I'm just not gonna use a 3rd party dock personally.
@@shabberplasm32 you’re the type of person who dont read the specs. If only you do that. Then you would know these reputable companies know the power delivery output of the switch dock because the info has been public for a while now

If the switch gets bricked, these companies won't care about that so 🤷♂️ I'd love a dock like this and since he's had no problems then I might buy it but that doesn't change the fact about the power bank I bought.
