for those of you who made one and it became curved or bowl like this happened to me as well. try making looser knots. I also restarted and used a thin piece of cardboard and pinned it down to the cardboard to make sure my coaster stayed flat. hope this helps :)
This happened to me as well. Once done, you can also wet the coaster, place it between two flat and heavy items (like a textbook), let it sit for about an hour, and this should flatten it out. Just put foil or some sort of plastic between the macrame and the textbook so that the book doesn't get wet.
Perfect tutorial! Easy to follow, clear instructions. I am an intermediate/advanced knotter, it took me about 25 minutes to finish one of these coasters :)
Great tutorial! I made 3 coasters last night. First one was... a total mess. But the second two came out pretty much perfect! I learnt that you need to push the loop of the knot tight up against the previous one so it's perpendicular to the holding cord. Super easy once you get the hang of it.
This is my first time trying to make a macrame coaster and am excited. The tutorial is extremely easy and simple to understand. I hope the coaster turns out well :)
Best tutorial I’ve seen, it turned out great, thank you! 😊 If it starts to curl my advice would be make looser knots and add more additional strings. I used just over 10 metres in total to complete one coaster.
Thanks for this! Super simple and to the point. I appreciate not having to skip through a lot of extra stuff to get to the tutorial, and it's easy to follow even though I don't know knot names. This looks like it would be really great large-scale to make a rug as well which is what I would like to try. Feeling inspired to maybe go get some cord...
Thank you Jenn, this is the best and simplest macrame coaster tutorial I’ve found, and I watched lots that were too long and/or complicated. Keep doing what you’re doing :)
Thanks so much for this! During quarantine, I needed something to keep me occupied, and this was what I needed! It was so fun and easy to make. Kudos to you.
I'm blown away! Up until now I had only see loosely tied wall decorations made from macrame and I always thought they looked tacky but these are so cute! Thank you for opening my eyes to this art form 😊
Great tutorial! It’d be helpful to know how much cord in total (example: 1 5 foot cord, 5 30 inch cords, 4 26 inch cords, 4 XX inch cords etc . I thought I only needed the 5 ft and 5 30 inch cords until I got into it then realizing I actually needed more cording then originally listed.
She does say that you need to add cords when a gap forms, unfortunately these gaps will be different depending on how tight you do the knots and how thick or thin your cord is
@@SuperKcourts It would be more helpful if all the cords needed were given at the start of the video. Mary Canton thought only two sizes of cord were needed. Its not until you are half way through the video that you are told to add more cords, other youtubers give a list of all materials required at the start of their tutorials.
I'm in agreeance with this.. I would have appreciated knowing all the various cords needed right from the very beginning.. and now I'm just adding as I go along.. kind of winging it
I added some macrame to a table, I really think that this coaster would look great on the table. Here's a link to the video of me making the macrame on the table. ua-cam.com/video/CiGQf9wBThc/v-deo.html
Today the first time I make macrame and I make coasters following your instructions. It’s little bit hard for beginners but I did it. Even though isn’t perfect like you. Thank you already make this tutorial. Love from Indonesia
If I wanted to make this rug size could I just triple the cord measurements? Should make any other adjustments? Thanks for the tutorial and help in advance, ordered my cord yesterday 🥳
Can you provide a list of the quantity of cords and at what length they should be cut? I get a little confused after the length of the cord starts to decrease
It is my first try for a macrame piece. It came out a little wavy (not flat). Is it because I made the knots too tight or should I have used more additional ropes? Thank you in advance and thanks for the tutorial too!
Just incase anyone tries this. I’m left handed and realized I was creating the right side ( pretty side) of my project upside down instead of facing up. Also I suggest not making the loops too tight. I would just say snug. I might have more tips once it’s finished.
5 feet = 1 m and 55 cm (aproximatelly )
30 inches= 76 cm (aproximatelly )
26 inch = 66 cm (apr)
Bless you ✨
Do you know how much total macrame cord was used for one? Trying to figure out how much cord I need! :)
you're the best
22 inch = 56 cm (apr)
@@georgettealegria6383 I guessing the 5ft cord is the 1m 55cm
Then it would be x5 chords 76cm and the gap fillers are the last number

@@DrDre5268 yes, or maybe just place a book or something on top to flatten it up
It sounds like you might have needed to add in more strings, any time you have a gap, add in!

Such clear instructions - a delight, after all the talk-fests I have endured! Fabulous for a beginner. Thankyou.
I highly agree 👍
SERIOUSLY. I about wept with joy when the intro was less than 10 sec.

How much macrame did you use total for each one?
@@lallybean can only offer an estimate sorry, but I used about 40m for 5 coasters. So probably 6-8 metres per coaster?

I watched at 75 percent speed because to me, you were speaking at 90mph but that said, it's a super-clear video. Thank you!
I've watched several DIY vids for this coaster, and I like yours best. Thanks for sharing!

Mine turned out pretty good, but not flat. Also, is it normal to have to keep adding so much string to it?
Great tutorial! What do I do if I keep getting gaps? Do I just add another 26in cord to the holding cord?
Thank you so much. I was struggling with making a coaster. Your vide helped me to finally make one❤️

Hey :) i love it but what are the équivalence in cm please ?
3mm = .3cm diameter of cord
5' Holding cord = 152.4 cm
30" knotting cords = 76.2 cm (you will need 5 of these to start)

If I use a 8mm cord, will it show the same result???
