It was incredible to make my living off of my passion, but I was DAMN broke during all of this haha. Month after month there would be $2 in my bank account after paying rent lol. My wife (girlfriend at the time) worked at Starbucks and was making more money than me, and she wasn't even working full time. It was a lot of fun at first, then began to feel like a chore.
Certain months I made extra cash with other brands which helped a ton, but all of the edits in this video were from one brand specifically. They were the only one that signed me for year long contracts at a time, while others would do one time deals.
I think I would have felt different about doing these promotional videos if I were making more money, but eventually it was no longer worth it. I felt stuck, and was a bit upset to move on with my life and get a typical day job. I really wanted to find a way to monetize my tricking, but social media was just not the way for me.
Now I work a desk job and it’s not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Some days I enjoy my work, but most days I tolerate it. I don’t hate it, but definitely don’t love it lol. It pays enough to get by, hopefully within time I can promote and start to have extra money for fun things. Still dreaming of a backyard springfloor at my house, but very far from being able to afford it.
I removed all of these videos from my Instagram, and there's a good amount of clips that never made it into my samplers. I was putting some pretty crazy clips into these videos at first, then after a while I decided to save certain clips for separate posts not associated with the brand. Let me know at what point in the video you think I was no longer putting effort into the video edits haha.
Anyways I hope you enjoy the clips!
If you have a spare dollar, help support my backyard springfloor fund :D

Watched all of it! I don't use IG much so most of this was new to me. Absolutely love it! Really enjoy watching the experimental and weird stuff.

I work a desk job too, and I try to make the best of it. Honestly, in my opinion, it's not nearly as bad as the "community" makes it out to be. I justify my time sat at a computer as forced recovery time to keep myself from over-training, and I also keep all kinds of recovery/conditioning equipment at my desk to prepare myself for the next session.
Also, there's a difference between making a living with flips and making a life with flips. Sounds like you've transitioned from the first to the second. Seems like you've got a good head on your shoulders now. Keep it up, dude. I'm always rooting for you. Been a big fan since I started flipping 11 years ago.

Agreed brother! After transitioning I found myself enjoying tricking like I used to. That whole social media phase of my life really took the passion away. Now I get to enjoy tricking exactly how I used to. Glad to hear you are doing well, and hope we cross paths at an event in the future

All these same reasons are precisely why i stopped traveling and doing shows. Once you're neck deep in it you finally realize it isn't worth it! While i will say reduction in the drive for training does suck as well as the change in the things i now predominantly prioritize in life; my origins remain the same and my essence will never alter. There will be a day where we have everything we need to truly pursue ourselves again in the fullest sense. the question remains however; will it be too late? How much do you reckon your spring floor will cost? and the preferred size? how would you keep it from being weathered?

Agreed! Tricking has been much more enjoyable since I stopped trying to make my money through it
Spring floor would be pretty costly, I’m a small guy so I don’t need much space. Before even getting a spring floor I’m hoping to just get the mat and have a dead floor. One panel is 6 ft x 42 and was thinking of just cutting it in half. The mat alone is $1000 plus about $500 in shipping. Been checking online for used ones but no luck, someone else usually beats me to it haha
I live in the desert so keeping my gross soft is a struggle, and I now live 90 minutes from the gym I used to train at. Trampoline has been a lot of fun lately tho :)
