He looked like a real life Disney prince. He and Gordeeva were just so good-looking. I've never seen a figure skater that's so effortlessly graceful yet utterly masculine. Grinkov was that.
They were such a beautiful couple. Every program they skated was beautiful. They were so much in love. I think they will always be the most beloved pairs’ couple of all time. RIP Sergei… 🍃💜🍃🕊🍃⛸🍃⛸🍃
This TV special was part of my childhood… I had it recorded from Brazilian TV on a VHS tape (it was aired here a couple years later). I used to watch it almost every day… It was when I started to love figure skating and started training on wheels… as we don’t have ice rinks in Brazil… It was such a great time! All good memories came back watching this again. Thank you for posting!
I remember watching this on tv when it aired. I really enjoyed watching Sergei and Ekaterina's performance. It's such a shame of what happened to Sergei. RIP Sergei.
Wait, how can this be said to be 1996, when Sergei died Nov 1995? Maybe the footage was taken bf then, and broadcast in 1996? Oh well. Nevermind...the gentleman in the intro explains. Had never seen this one before...thank you!!
@@dressersmith Nah. Disney could have and SHOULD HAVE hired a First Nations/Native American figure skater to play Pocahontas (although considering how tepid and boring they made the movie because they were so focused on not being what passed as offensive to white neo-liberals in 1995, I don't blame any Native folks for not wanting to associate with a whitewashed, adultified, exoticised idea of a REAL ALGONQUIN CHILD). Take your White Tears, White Apologia and dogwhistle about "wah racism against whites" elsewhere.
@@dressersmith I don’t think it’s racism, it’s just a bit funny to see a White Russian play a native Indian. But there’s no problem with it and they suited the role
What sets G&G apart is that he is just as beautiful as she and skates just as well. Words cannot describe their magic.
Sergei was the absolute best! Love those two, but it breaks my heart that he passed so young!

Exquisite performance by G&G! It melts my heart the love these two shared between them. There will never be another pair like them!

ESTE FUEBUN CONTRATO QUEBTENIAN QUE CUMPLIR EN DISNEY, Y LO HICIERON EN SEPTIEMBRE 1995, SERGEI MURIÓ CASI 2 MESES DESPUÉS. 😢😢
Does anyone know where to find Chen Lu's Riverdance performance from 1996 Champions on Ice?!? I've searched off and on for years 😢
Wow Sergei was so young. They couldn’t get a more white Pocahontas.
The skaters each picked the character they wanted to portray, you clearly missed that. Take your racism somewhere else.

@@toxic-low-key-ghost7934 Woke people are too sensitive nowadays that every single thing gets politicized (and even literal). It's pathetic.
@@dressersmith Don't be silly. It has nothing to do with racism.
Racism doesn't even egzist unless u r a snowflake.
Only evil and good.
How is this from 1996???
This was shot in 1995 but aired in 1996.
