Joe said he is hoping to have the DLC priced at $9.99. The DLC requires it's own save file. My guess is the limitations to planet size and complexity are due to keeping the save file small, especially for consoles. Using a separate save file for the DLC allows them to make the new planet much more interesting. There will be updated stuff for the vanilla game, but the majority of new content is in the DLC. On multiplayer, if the host owns the DLC, other players can play it, even if they don't own it. You need to purchase the DLC to play it solo, or to host multiplayer of it. If the DLC goes well, they may do more. For me, the addition of the railway system made the game much more playable. The caves are too small and rough for rovers, but you can lay down a train system one time and use it to traverse large distances.
I *literally* just mentioned this game to you the other day! This game is what drew me to your channel. This game has SO much room for expansion! Honestly, I feel the same way. I paid for the base game but had SO much fun playing it! I wouldn't mind spending some more money, especially if there would be more planets to come! *reinstalling the game as I edit this comment*
To be honest, there is a lot of story for Astroneer that has been added while you have been gone from Astroneer. So playing through Astroneer around now before the DLC will help you understand the current story of Astroneer.

9:43 That reminds me of the old Dust storms with the blocks of death. I really wish they would have left those storms in as it gave the game a whole different vibe.
I’m so so stoked for more Astroneer!!! Something I have wished for and even put in an email… the game has AWESOME music… I want a RADIO.. so many craftable items.. glass, copper, and an EXObite.. have options for different music made by the games composer.. have it attach to your backpack…
Love that the devs are only planning on $10, they are good folks. And always giving some free cosmetics depending on the season, they had awesome pride visors for free in the store this summer! Did everyone grab them? :)
You should definitely do a new play through of astroneer and maybe get others involved and hopefully Ms z too! The videos with you and her playing Astroneer are my favorite ones you have done ever! They were so funny.😂❤
Trains are great for cabe or whole world transport plus you can plus the triangle storage to double whole train holding capacity. they added in a 3 large rover storage pad.

I used to watch all your old Astroneer videos and was pretty sad when you stopped playing Astroneer but I continued to watch some of your other series such as planet crafter(one of my favorites) and satisfactory. I would have never bought any of these games if I didn't see your videos, now they are my favorite and most played games on steam. I can't thank you enough for returning to Astroneer. I am SOOOO exited for the update and even more exited to watch you play it. Thank you again.

You haven't played the new storyline bit, if you haven't played the game in years. It's after you beat the main storyline, and after you do all the quests. It's not incredibly long, but it adds some info that you really need to know before the DLC comes out. I replay this game over and over and over lol. I just replayed the game here recently. (The hoverboard is my favorite item in the whole game!!!!)

With the custom configurations built into Astroneer now, you can basically make different planets our the current ones. I don't see this as big of a deal as Z1 is making it out.
Had a feeling you would react to this. If you come back to the game, play the dlc. Maybe even invite viewers to play and experience it with you. And then stop and wait for the next huge update since updates should be bigger and better also faster than before with Devolver. I’m fully expecting it. While you grew your channel off of astroneer, I and I’m sure many others have grown with it a little bit. Looking forward to your full reaction to all the content when it comes out. Btw as was said in the little dev stream, anyone who wants to show support, wishlist the dlc on steam/xbox so it helps with the algorithm etc. Also the dlc is estimated to be 10 USD
idea I've had in my head for a long time is what if we had water. Hear me out there's gas in the game and we mine solids all the time but adding water would give another element to the game different type of liquids can make different type of new mixes new things. Then I thought what if there was actually water added on some of the planets different planets would have different water. Then I thought what if there was a whole new planet completely out of water it would be a whole new challenge there would be new water bills and there would be new water vehicles maybe add some alien fish
It will depend on how much it costs. I come back to it and play it every once in awhile but they have really made it extremely hard to get devices. I wasn't really enjoying it unless I modded it
So after abandoning the game in an unfinished state and gouging people with cosmetic mtx for years, now they expect me to give them more money to finish the game? That's gonna be a hard pass from me. I don't need a second Paradox in my life.
I have over 3,000 hours in this game. After two massive saves got corrupted due to no fault of my own and due to an update by the devs, they told me they would not help me fix the save, that I as a player was not important enough for them to do it. So I quit. This might just make me come back.
Really? Ususally system era has always been really nice to it's customers, it might be worth speaking to system era's Joe or the subreddit. They just recently released a save repair tool, you should check that out.
Oh, trust me. It is really about what was corrupted and it's like a wrecked car. Sometimes it's not worth the time or money. It is a Total loss. The game is very, very great to play. With the tapper. Early game Infinite power is absolutely awesome. I have a system that generates from 16 power up to a potential 64 power and it never stops. Upgrade to a carbon system and add an additional 63 power with medium generators. these power plants are awesome and have changed the way I can play in the early game. Not having to micromanage power. You will like how it is now. Very good changes and this is even better news. Awesome!
We've never told our players they aren't important to us, and this year we took a major step in trying to address broken saves by releasing the Save File Repair tool. Hopefully we can continue to improve that tool and recover more saves, but unfortunately sometimes extreme gameplay has extreme consequences. Attempts to blow up or terraform entire planets is not a normal use case we develop and test for though.
Right now the only thing you have to pay for is the game, everything else is cosmetic, I can support paid DLC that expands the game, game development is not free and is a job just like everyone else’s.

I first got astroneer from your videos and it quickly became one of my favorites, did all the achievements and I never did that for games
The base game is currently for sale on steam with a 60% discount for 11.99 USD until September 9th regular price is 29.99 USD.

It does say a new system but only says "Aeoluz, a brand new planet" sounding like only one.
It’s a new solar system, but so far it only has 1 planet in it.
