Watched this series with my grandfather over the last summer we got to spend together before cancer took him. I was out of school, so I went to visit with him almost every day before he had to be hospitalized. Chemo was making his life Hell, but we'd be sitting out in a screened patio, listening to the birds in the big beautiful yard hed spent so many years maintaining and perfecting. He taught me a lot in the long conversations we had in those days, I was only 13. but he had a box DVD set of this show and we would watch it together. Such happy memories to be grateful for. Master and commander, along with Sharpe is truly one of the best adaptations of a novel based on the British military, and no better actors than Sean Bean and Russel Crowe!!!!
Hornblower and Sharpe are above Master and Commander for me. Hornblower's my favourite, and then Sharpe then M&C. But they're 3 of the best movies (series) from their time

The book series is REALLY good and the honestly the battles are more larger and epic. But I can’t blame the series for its budget. It still is a damn good adaptation, just wished they had a bigger budget.

Thanks for the tip on what to do after this school year.. finishing secondary school this june (2023) completely and will be going to high school afterwards. It feels like an entire triumph knowing my full elementary and secondary school career's memories and difficulties. Like both of you I will not look back when I leave the old grounds and enter the new ones like I lead an entire army in the 1800's behind me

Does anyone know the instrument being played from 0.39 onwards, its a low background din. I thought it was smallpipes but I have no idea and its eating me up. Anyone know? Sounds like an 18th century instrument.
