    Thanks for the vid! Just wondering, is there or should there be a fuse of some sort in this setup? If so where and what amperage? Cheers!

    My wife and I were able to retrieve two 48 volt Absolyte Battery Banks but the 2 volt cells did not come with plates for the cells. How do I configure the cables to get the best charging pattern? I have a lot to learn about setting up our off grid property. Thank you for any input!

      @@constructionhacks9293 The cells + to - position(s) are configured in a row - all positive on one side/all negative on the other side. I would send a photo but copy and paste to the comments section on youtube doesn't seem to work any longer.

    Great vid. I've been dying to learn more about battery backup systems. We put solar in this summer, and would love to install a battery backup system. Does the AH's on the batteries need to be the same? Does that impact the gauge wire you use to daisy chain them? Are there any downsides to going with a 200AH vs a 100AH?

      Thanks for watching, these are lead acids and you can use different ah but is always better to use the same!

    Can I use 4 AWG WIRE between the 12 volt batteries?

    So to put it in simple terms. You have 2x 48v wired together? Just asking as my 48v set up seems to run low very quick and I want to add more batteries. Also what watts solar panels do you use to charge them?

    • @constructionhacks9293
      @constructionhacks9293  4 місяці тому

      @@sypherxxx7358 yes 4 serised and two paralleled. you can use whatever solar panels you have to charge them, just make sure the voltage and wattage line up with the recommended solar (pv) input on your charge controller!!

    How do you draw 12 volts off that if you want some 12 volt outlets for 12 volt items?

    You're missing a very critical component. That component is a battery balancer circuit. Without it your 48V battery pack will become unbalanced and will lose capacity.

      They can do that, these lead acid batteries are usually not as bad as the lithium’s which must have a bms thanks for your support!

    You didn't cover the cable sizing. I know you have to use full size for the 12v batteries, whatever amp flow they are rated for. But for the main cables that are now 48v, what is the formula to figure the cable size?

    • @constructionhacks9293
      @constructionhacks9293  7 місяців тому

      You should be able to look up the volts times the amp hours and find the watts and size of wire. 48v is smaller than 12v. So multiply volts by amps and you’ll get the watts and should be able to gage the wire size on Google! Thanks for your support!

    • @azycray4801
      @azycray4801 7 місяців тому

      @@constructionhacks9293 watts dived by volts = amps so I figured that out. Basically 1 quarter of the 12v amps when in 4S. My question is, are all the cables able to now carry the lower amp rating? Or do the internal cables, before they reach 48v need to stay larger?

    • @constructionhacks9293
      @constructionhacks9293  7 місяців тому

      @@azycray4801 amps don’t increase when your series a battery or a panel amps only increase when you parallel a battery or a panel.

      @@constructionhacks9293 I know, they decrease. 12v 200 amp battery in 4s is 48v 50 amp. So the cable size dropped from 3/0 with 12v to 8AWG but I will still over size to limit voltage drop. What I am trying to find out is, can all the cables in the middle, connecting + to - need to be larger before it becomes 48v and can drop down to 8AWG?

    • @constructionhacks9293
      @constructionhacks9293  7 місяців тому

      @@azycray4801 that’s a good question. I’ve never heard of bigger cables in the middle. I think it never goes above the amperage that the batteries are rated for so I would say 48 V cables throughout.
