Yes if you do have a friendly contact in a zoo like that, the chances are you can adopt an animal like this. I have a friend who bought 6 piranhas and adopted a Python. And this couple must shit RICH.
Unlike reptiles, mammals and big felines can be raised if you teach em proper behaviour, "They're not dangerous if you raise them with good behaviour, even animals"

I think Messi's health issues were too big of a responsibility for a zoo with many animals to take care of and that's why they agreed for someone to take him, so he got the one on one care he needed.
Also it's been documented that many big cat recognize small cats as cats. House cats have gotten into zoo enclosures with big cats before and not gotten eaten, because they are well fed and stimulated there is less hunt drive to make then attack what they might see as baby cats.

My brother is in the process of adopting a Lynx. But that’s a big process because it can’t be a peer bred and has to be raised from when it’s a kitten.

from all i know the zoo messi was in actually wanted to give him away because of him being so small. the other cougars wouldn’t have accepted him or even killed him so the zoo wanted to sell him.

While I really hate when people keep wild animals as pets this one was probably born in captivity and as it's from a petting zoo probably needs to live with humans, I'm glad the cougar found a good home

Ok this cougar is very adorable!😍 I know Russia does things differently with animals but there's one question that always gets me:
How the heck does a cougar come from a petting zoo??? Like was it just a petting zoo with some animals in their habitats to not be petted like a zoo OR was it a petting zoo just straight up petting cougars and other animals that aren't normally in petting zoo spaces in America. Cause I'd logically imagine being the first of the two but then again who knows?🤷🏻♀️

Actually I WOULD adopt an animal that is not common because the way I view animals is the same way I view dogs. Every animal wants affection and honestly, wild animals are not evil and dangerous like they are portrayed to be. If you are in their 'home' or territory then of course they will attack since they feel like they are the ones who are in danger. But every animal just wants to be safe and feel loved.
