  • On today’s podcast I’ve got a rockstar turned pastor, none other than Mattie Montgomery! We talked about how he started his band at a young age, toured the world, sold millions of copies, only to give it up and open up his own church. Along with that we talked about sometimes, in order to reach the next phase of your life, you have to be patient and wait. So many people try and get impatient, try to force things, and promote their own agenda. It was cool to hear his story of waiting and going through all that he did. I can relate to that as well with so many things that have happened in my life, just waiting for the call. We touched on his relationship with Derek Carr, who was also recently on the podcast, and how they started this giant conference that’s coming to Las Vegas. Overall, if you’re a man who is trying to figure things out, become a better leader in your household, to do more for your community, or be a better father, this podcast is definitely going to help you! Make sure you stay to the end.

I met Maddie Montgomery at a conference the day before we filmed this and just had to have him on the podcast!
Mattie joined a band in 2007 and the band became very famous! He was able to travel the entire planet to play his music for all. The band sold millions of records world wide as well. His band was a Christian metal band and was able to spread the gospel worldwide. Because of the music they played, the band was invited to travel with all kinds of musicians and played in all kinds of places. He retired in 2016 with his farewell tour.
Mattie Montgomery and I have similar experiences with our retirements from our first careers. I retired from baseball to pursue my real estate career and have no regrets. Mattie feels the same way and cherishes his memories he made with the band.
After his farewell tour, he spent time at home and helped his wife run the house. He was invited to speaking events and continued to travel the world to preach. Mattie Montgomery heard his call and decided to start a church. He and his family launched their church in Tennessee and it’s been a huge success!
During COVID, the church didn’t close but met in very small groups for 5 weeks. After some time, we opened the church to those wanting to attend.
Mattie Montgomery met Derek Carr when he was a college football quarterback. Derek Carr called Mattie at least once a week for nine years and kept Mattie as a mentor. Derek Carr told Mattie that he plays football for a living but his real passion is in ministry. Derek Carr and Mattie Montgomery are holding a men’s conference in Las Vegas!

Aloha I just got done watching your podcast with Mr. Mattie I just got out the prison of 2023 years that I’ve been locked up is been inspiration to my heart. He has brought me tears to my eyes and the love that he has for YHWH through his son, yeshua I am mostly proud of you that you use the name, Yahweh and his sons name, yeshua I have been learning a lot by the way through music brothers that have been locked up a long time. It was one brother. I was reading my Bible in the beginning of my prison sentence, and he told me that God has a plan for me, but I first had to be spiritually connected with our creator through his son I’ve always try to find a way to serve him. I’m trying to find my purpose in life, but I beat myself down because I don’t know what to do or how to serve him, but I continue to read and study the best I know how, I don’t trust the church because the church has failed so many times especially when I needed them the most and the things that I have learned during my prison sentence I’ve been lied to from the church, so I do not have much trust in man or the ones that speak of our creator and his son by Mr. Mattie I trust you, because I see the spirit in you and my heart wants to raise men to be men for their household that we need to get out of pride, fornication lost, and most of all sin that keeps us away from our creator I have come to a place to where I want to build myself up in spirit and to help others to find their manhood and be the leaders that they were created to be this is my first time reading expression myself, so please be patient with me because I am still learning, but I am a servant of the most high. I am a Israel light I don’t believe in religion believe in the truth, I believe in the spirit that he sent so we could learn and thrive in his word. When I came out, my gold was to come to Tennessee, and be a part of your church, and learn how to build up other men, and through my experience that I have lived on the streets, which was not very good because he was always about me and I didn’t care about anyone else, because I never had a father to raise me nor of mother but she did try her best so basically, I raised myself so things at a young age that I should’ve never seen they touched in a way that should’ve never took place instead of learning God’s way I was taught to do as the world does on my heart has always been close with our creator. He has always been in the back of my mind. My will was strong, but my actions were weak. I’ve cried out so many times for the ones who say you’re all about gods business but there’s things that you are sad that has brought me to trust again that warms my heart and I want to help other men to get to know Yeshua spiritually and build them up in spirit, and I’m sorry from pouring out my heart right now, but the spirit lead me to speak my heart by Mr. Mattie I want to thank you very much for what you are doing for his kingdom I wish or hope one day I can speak encouragement to others to build them up but right now I am still learning and having hope that one day he could use a guy like me but I just have to be patient and see what he has in store. Well I want to cut it short this is pretty long and I apologize for that. I hope one day that I get to meet you and share my testimony with you may God continue to bless you and keep you spirit for the end is near and we have to put on our armor and be ready for his coming. My brother told me always be ready my brothers in prison I pray for their release soon but right now I’m just trying to find my journey in his kingdom, the Texas is not for me but I’m stuck here till I get off of parole or figure out. What is my next step or what our creator wants for me but I think you were showing me what a true man of our creator is like the spirit, we bless a prayer get to meet you one day at work beside you to help this nation of men to be leaders and followers of the most high… thank you your brother in spirit Hano Sims ….

I've been listening to Mattie and For Today since I was a teenager. The message through him influenced my life in a way nothing else did. Making the gospel accessible through good music, and great speaking.

For Today, for me was one of my favorite metalcore bands, and Mattie is a top tier vocalist and I really love his screams. Was hoping they would carry on longer and making more music but kudos to him to taking his life in another direction

It’s amazing to see the journey he’s made. We weren’t super close, but Mattie and I went to high school together. We connected because we both had dreadlocks at the time 😆

Love Mattie. For Today is amazing. Saw them live multiple times. I wasn't aware that he ever started his own church.

For Today NEVER sold millions of copies. Quote from Mattie at Bulldog Cafe in Louisville (Fairdale) Kentucky..." I make more money with churches than being in this band so this band may not last much longer".

Mattie literally is saying that he sold million of records in this video lol

@Rohit Kar Yeah thats complete nonsense. Anyone with any knowledge of the music business or just pays attention to detail knows that's nonsense.

@@xjryanrussellxjust bcus a band sells millions of records doesnt mean they make millions of dollars. The labels, media outlet and streaming services make the most money. The band gets a cut but most of their pay is just necessities such as hotels, food, instrument sponsors, and travel across the planet for touring

I was very disappointed to find that Mattie's church upholds women as pastors. Huge let down for me.
