  • O 'Sabi, 'Sabi, whereforart thou, 'Sabi? So, I talk a bit about why there haven't been so many rusty old cars on the channel, in addition to bringing you a fantastic 510 Bluebird Coupe 1600SSS that looked to have sat for a couple of decades. It's got patina, REAL patina, performance/aftermarket parts, and bags of style.

      Great looking wheels for sure. I wish they were an option for my car. (Though, if we're fantasizing, I'd probably go with Hotwires...) Cheers, man

    Hell yeah, Mr. Daniel, been looking forward to this vid, A coupe used to be unheard of hear in the states about 7-8 years ago, now not so uncommon. Many people buy, even the ones without papers and ship them over here to build, Im sure with other parts of the world as well, glad to see the cars parted, built and enjoyed. cool old rusty cars are great to see in the wild as well however, I would say, significantly your Wasabi car vids have inspired many of these exports.

      I'm looking for one. Any insight on how to get my hands on one would be greatly appreciated.

    It's really sad that car's like this disappear. The look is so my style, just amazing. Although I must confess that I fixed some rust on my Subaru Legacy yesterday. But let's be honest that the rust on a Subaru it's the least of the concern. The nearest off patina to the car in the video is my Mazda 323 GT, lucky for me it's in a dry but dusty garage for now.

      Oh... Bad news. I just checked Wikipedia. I never see them. I think I may have seen about 2 in the last 20 years. I'm being serious. Japan throws cars away. They keep some (AE86, Skyline, etc...) but other get crushed :(

    What a fantastic video Daniel! But you know I love the Wa Sabi! 😅
    Those jellybeans rims were sold here as Wolfrace and they are quite common as 13 inch for four lugs or huge sizes for six lugs.
    It is funny to see these full width 510 tail lights coming back into fashion lately! First it was Audi who put sequential indicators on their top spec cars. Then Porsche placed full width tail lights on their latest 911 incarnation, which Audi then immediately copied (they are the same company anyway) on their Q7 SUV. Bunch of copycats there in Germany!😂

    • @TheIIIJulianIII
      @TheIIIJulianIII Рік тому +1

      Usually car-stuff is illegal to do in Germany and Europe in general, until VW and its sub-companies decide something new and it suddenly, almost magically becomes legalized for newer cars...

  • @OllamhDrab
    @OllamhDrab Рік тому

    I'm pretty sure the US didn't get the full-width taillights. I think sequential turn signals went out of use after some older T-birds and such proved prone to glitches and too much hassle and embarrassment for the carmakers, cool as they looked when working right.
    By the time there had to be DOT approval for lights it might have been too much extra import hassle, but I've started seeing them pop up again on newer cars , like I was behind one of those electric "mustang" crossovers that had em recently.
    And jellybean mags are a classic choice for these among other things though. Some people here call em 'slots.' :)

      G'day. And, email received, too. Unfortunately, I just had the single encounter at the auction yard, and didn't get much more footage than this. I was super impressed when I first saw the car. I thought that someone with the knowledge and know-how would definitely be able to bring it back to as-new condition
