The excellent and very talented lead guitarist is Val Mccallum, playing to the right of Jackson Browne. He is the son of actor David Mccallum aka Illya Kuryakin, the secret agent from the 60's TV show The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Val's guitar playing is like having another voice in the band. Check out Jackson Browne's Tiny Desk concert. Val's guitar skills are sublime.

Back in the 70's it was the SAME BAND - The Section. Peter Asher produced both James and Jackson, as well as Linda Ronstadt - and the Section played for Linda too. PHENOMINAL band!

Jackson Browne and James Taylor are fantastic artists and I’m a little bit sad that they have not done more collaborations together. I was raised around their music and it will always be dear to my heart. Seeing them do the song that was made famous by The Eagles is something that is remarkably beautiful and timeless. Musicians may come and go, but Jackson, James and The Eagles will always shine above the majority.

Wow!!!! This is so amazing! I find this today, my big brother, Jimmy's 59'th birthday. He went to heaven on this past April 7'th. Most crazy thing, this was the first song he ever performed. His most favorite performers ever were, James Taylor & Jackson Browne!!!! He played guitar beautifully, and many thought his voice was coming from a cd of J.T. Our family was sure when it was him, because we, of course thought he sounded like an angel. Today on his birthday, the 1'st one without him, I found a lovely feather, saw a praying mantis, and now his most loved performers singing his favorite song---Together!!!✨💫💞❤️💖💕 He is with me! Thank you!!!

Terri......Looks like your getting another sign from your brother ( through me ). My brother ( older ) Jimmy ( same name ) went to Heaven on the 21st of April. To be honest I don't know if he a was a fan of Jackson or James ( subject never came up 🤔), but I am ( if that counts ). I'm thinking it does ....how else would I have seen your post. Anyway, April isn't an easy month for me, hoping it's not too difficult for you.

100% perfection would have been having Mr. David Lindley on fiddle. Saw Jackson Browne spring of !978 at St. Paul Civic Center during his "Running on Empty" Tour. The height of his commercial success. James Taylor, like Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac always at his best. Great take of the ultimate "White Man's player " song!!!

yeah, love JT but those cover albums were not his best work for sure... speaking of covers, I'd greatly appreciate it if some JT fans would check out my piano & vocal tribute versions of THE FROZEN MAN and NEVER DIE YOUNG on my channel. Real live acoustic performance with no autotune. Thanks and please pardon the promo.

He is always interesting even in unrehearsed situations..I like watching these guys when they are not in their perfect comfort zone. as a player I always learn something everytime I see a good player perform..when somebody like James Taylor has a lifetime of timeless classic under his belt I think its great he wants to have some fun doing tunes by others he appreciates..He doesn't have to hit a home run every time.

It appears that the great Greg Lietz was on pedal steel for this concert. He got the sneaky Pete steel line just perfectly. I have always preferred Jackson's version of this tune. He wrote most of the tune, but Glen Frey came up with the Winslow Arizona line and finished the song.

No it’s Val McCallum, an excellent and very musical guitar player, and the also musically deep Greg Leisz on pedal steel. And waiting to go on with James for his set wandering around in the background is another guitarist extraordinaire, Michael Landau. There were lots of very talented people onstage that day in addition to James and Jackson who are also two of my favorites
