Two of the most underrated actors to ever hit a screen of any sort. Amy is overdue for that Oscar and I’m so happy Richard is finally getting the credit he deserves.
Richard was excellent in GOT..even untill season 3

He’s great in everything he does. He even made Prince Charming a dynamic character. Also, Amy Adams in Arrival is one of my favorite performances. She was stunning.

Amy is the future Meryl. She's just brilliant right from Enchanted to American hustle to sharp objects, legend. And Richard went from King in the North to Cinderella to Bodyguard, such an amazing range! Love them both!
This was a match nobody asked for but how splendidly it worked out! They had a lot of natural chemistry together. Great honest discussion from Richard and Amy, hope to see them in many more amazing projects in the future.

He's talked about it before, but Bodyguard seems to have really taken a toll on Richard,

Am I the only one who thinks the ending of Bodyguard was alright?? Like it didn't really have any loose end, the series could end with only one season just like that. Yeah I'd really appreciate it if season 2 actually happens so we can see Richard Madden playing David Budd once again, but... is it that necessary? It seems like the whole experience was somewhat emotionally demanding for him and I feel like he might be under pressure since almost everyone wants it back.. Beside, a season 2 is almost never better than season 1, especially when it is unnecessarily stretched out.
He is such an amazing actor! He is so committed in bringing a character to life but hearing him speak about Bodyguard I do agree that he just seemed emotionally and mentally exhausted from it.I cant imagine just constantly being put into that mindset for a while. Happy he is getting tips from other actors bc that seemed like the hardest part of him playing in Bodyguard. Hopefully they do give him more support for that!
Richard was great in thrones but he really impressed me in bodyguard. Will be watching his career for more great roles

I’m sooo in love with Richard, not only is he extremely beautiful but sooo damn talented, everything I’ve watched him in he’s been fantastic, Bodyguard was outstanding and I’m so glad he’s getting praised for it, can’t wait for season 2. 😊❤️

I can't stress enough how happy I am for these Actors on Actors videos. It really gives you a glimpse of what these talented actors go through. Like a sense of humanity. So good. Also the pairing is always on point! Good job Variety!
I like how he says that he doesn’t want to be Romeo anymore... I really get that. He has so much potential, and is truly an incredible actor, he shouldn’t be stuck in the “same” character over and over again. I get that he is so charming, and seems perfect for a “prince” or any “romantic” characters. But honestly he is so great at playing deeper and darker roles, and show this other side of him, character that are not only brave and loving and heroic, but also are scared and desperate and lost. I really hope he gets more characters like that.
Best “Actors on Actors” I’ve ever seen. An experienced and lovely Amy Adams breaks the ice and connects with Richard Madden. Amy is underrated and Madden has a future after Bodyguard.
This was hands down the best actors on actors. They were so warm and open and real to each other. There was no ego, they were simply two artists talking about their craft.
I can totally relate to what Richard Madden said about shaking off a character’s emotions after finishing a tv show. I am a musician, i play guitar and sing. When i am learning a new song, i take somewhat of a method acting approach to the process. I try to learn about the songwriter by researching the time period they lived in, the struggles they might have endured during their life, and the emotions they might have been feeling when writing that song. As a musician, I find it important to put myself in the shoes of another musician or songwriter in order to do justice to a song. From a musician’s perspective, I do my best to think about how an actor would get into character to prepare to play a historical figure and then I adapt the process to fit my art form.
In 2016, I was on my second day at a new job at a jewelry store in Weho. This suuuuper handsome guy and a friend come in. I help him pick out a necklace for almost two hours. He was so sweet, even told me I was doing a great job. And oh man, that Scottish accent. Then, he asked how our GOT line was doing. His friend snickered a bit and said- you know- he's on that show. My boss and I were like ohhhhh ok great (thinking he was a one liner or an extra.) Then his friend spills the tea and tells us he plays Rob Stark. He looked so different in person I didn't even recognize who I was flirting with. Oh was my face red. Nicest normal guy. Charming AF.

sharp objects was a masterpiece, and I cant wait to see what does amy do for tv next. she really should win the emmy this year. also eliza scanlen did such an amazing job, and she is so lucky to have amy as her mentor. amy said she started crying when eliza told her about getting cast in little women.

As someone with anxiety and a lot of emotions similar to how both their characters felt, they both did a great job portraying that level of emotion in their characters experiences and things they did! They both deserve all types of awards for their preformance's!!!

I’m in love with their craft and how talk about their craft and how much I love and passion and care that they talk about improving and pursuing more rolls to challenge themselves as actors these are two of the finest actors of our generation and they deserve every recognition they get. @@huh4206 Usually I would 100% agree with you, but I'd like to think that in some parts of the world we've reached a point where it doesn't matter what gender someone is dating. I know that's a bit far-fatched, but those pictures were quite telling and public and I don't see Richard as being the type of person to have a big coming out.
@PurelyAfrican Umm no he doesn't have a girlfriend. Him and Ellie Bamber broke up in the beginning of 2019. He most likely has a boyfriend now though, actor Brendon Flynn, they live together and when Richard was asked about it he said he doesn't discuss his relationships in public.

Such a great convo! As an actor, I can relate to learning how to open myself up to having a cathartic connection with the emotion, without dragging my past into the work. Especially hurtful things that I have forgiven and don’t want to keep bringing into my mind. It’s an ongoing process, but it has freed up my work and made it so much more healing and exciting. 🙌🏽❤️🎥📹
