- Omari Hutchinson has joined Ipswich Town on a permanent deal from Chelsea for a reported £20m. What sort of statement of intent is this from Town ahead of their return to the Premier League?

You mention Norwich; their transfer record from several spells in the top flight (whilst ITFC were on the downturn) is c.£8.8m for a few players (most recently Tzolis and Rashica). Interesting that ITFC have well exceeded that, as well as smashing their own record. Big money deals no guarantees of course, but ITFC maybe learning the lesson of a) Burnley who didn't convert key promotion loans into permanents (e.g. Nathan Tella), as well as b) Norwich for not really pushing the boat out far enough?
Norwich's policy when Webber was sporting director was to recruit players that were "under the radar". The results were mixed.
Your best signing is keeping your manager, mark Ashton sounds determined to keep U up,my team have gone up and down more than most teams last decade or more, blew money on average players when we went up and high wages loaned players what didn't work but we did find some top players aswell but in the premiership U need 11 top players to compete, have U got a chance , upfront is where your fate could be decided,U scored goals for fun last season and if McKenna does his homework he knows the areas U need to compete 🤬🇬🇫🇬🇫🦁🏴
It's my birthday today! Nice present
If he improves as much as he did in his first year he'll ensure our mid table comfort and be worth 40/50 m by the end of this coming season.

Benjamin Bloom wich 3 teams do you think will go down from Premier League this season?
It was a must do signing for me
Once Kieran stayed I think it was odds on Omari would come
Shows the pull of the manager
Chelsea when it comes to FFP are giving??
Chelsea when it comes to FFP are fuc??
Good move We know what we are getting and before JULY
At lest Ipswich are going to have a good go at it unlike Norwich who didnt really spend anything . Hopefully for you Ipswich fans it will be you boys staying up an Norwich joining end next season. Are Ipswich going to go for the 100 million mark ? Yes i am a Norwich fan
I'm a Norwich fan 2,last time we went up we spent 60 million on players who were then loaned out, high wages on average players who were good in the championship but not good enough in the premiership, poor recruitment cost us 5 promotions in over a decade or more now we have to sell to buy new signings, McKenna is a top manager they havea ,50,50,chance of staying up 🇬🇫🦁🏴
Worth every penny !
Yes Ben. Great news my friend…
In the Prem, you need TWO Prem League experienced Goalkeepers - do ITFC have even ONE??
Again the owners need credit, manager situation sorted, clearly a main statement target nailed before pre season starts. This gives confidence to all that the 'process' behind the scenes offers stability and ambition. Few more 5 to 10 mil buys and a couple of big loans might see us safe!!
A good deal no doubt backed up by the American Investment team. Now they need to find and spend money on a top quality defender. The balance of the team will be important.
It is small fry. In the grand scheme of things it can still be good business. Overstretching isn’t an option really for most teams and it has been the downfall of so many.
I think this is good business but it has to be just the start.
I really hope that it pays off and that you don’t try and buy a whole new team.
Key positions only I think.
Not following luton prudent approach to tackling the premier league.
Hope he can produce the same form and not get injured. Clever recrutment as he will be worth more should Ipwitch stay up or they can recoup the money if they come back to the Champ. Good luck for the new season Ben.
I'm glad the deals are starting to be done. Feels like a long time since the promotion, and the new season is getting closer every day.
Amazing for town! On the ffp deadline - as long as you can prove to the FA evidence of the deal being in discussions before the deadline, deals can still be put into ffp of the previous season.
Hes decent at championship level and be interesting to see how he does, the Premier league its a different kettle of fish.
in my opinion tooo expensive..10m max
And now Ben Johnson has signed
My worry for Ipswich is that they will now have to account for two seasons of pre-PL FFP finances, as opposed to one that most clubs who get promoted would have. I'm guessing the losses allowed for L1 teams would be significantly lower than Championship teams and the same between Championship and PL.
@@bryanbadonde9484 They have to produce numbers at the end of every calendar year. So the numbers they would be producing at the end of this year would be for 23/24, 22/23 and 21/22 (so 2 L1 seasons and one Champ season) - I actually think you'll be fine this season but if you wildly overspend you'll be in trouble next season as you'll have to account for one L1 season, one Champ season and one PL season.
the way i see it town have spent 20 million this window and havent improved their team from last season. could still prove me wrong of course but hutchinsons market value is currently less than 4. Definitely gonna need to improve the squad if they want to survive next season
But he was a loan player and now he's not. So it is an improvement
We would be weaker without him, no doubt
