Does anybody remember that mission from Mario kart DS on that you have to race backwards against Bowser? I think that is what they got the idea for the track in mk8d
I knew those corners didn't feel as interesting, didn't realise they'd removed flower patches there. Also a shame the maze is much smaller. Honestly I still love the Switch version a lot and it looks great visually, but it feels way less interesting to play than the DS/Wii versions did
@@knuclear200x Eh I'll take it. $25 for 48 fun returning tracks (18 of which most haven't played because they were Tour) in a game that already has 48 tracks, plus new features, track types and balance changes and a really nice clean colourful artstyle. Better than 16 new tracks and 16 returning tracks in a new Mario Kart for triple the price just for the sake of a new gimmick
Honestly, I think I prefer the hedge maze from the original DS version. Sure, from a visual standpoint it’s definitely prettier now, but the maze was so simplified and dumbed down. There was a fun challenge in navigating all the hedges and for the most part not being about to see what was around the corner of each one you passed. In fact, that’s like the main thing I remembered of the course, so it feels a bit weird to have the signature aspect (to me) of a track removed like that.
Just wanna say another thing since tour there are now only 2 chain chomps in the maze On the final lap in MK8D the chain chomps in the hedge maze change their route As well as the chain chomp at the start will go the opposite direction once players have gone over the the peak of the slope near the hedge maze glider ramp
Tour remakes are honestly really good (few exceptions like Sky garden). They may not be the best lookers, but they tend to change things that may not have been necessary but they make since. The nice make over in 8 have been relatively nice looking with meh geometry. (Small rant while I have it on my mind.. how in the hell is toad circuit so ugly? 1. Obviously we got better textures in the base game, but WE HAD BETTER IN WAVE ONE?! the grass in shroom ridge may not had detailed, but it wasn't this ugly piss color, I don't understand?)
Honestly peach gardens is the most overrated track in the dlc the 3rd lap is cool but they removed the flower patches, the maze is smaller and there's only 2 chomps, no more item box behind the chomps, piranha plant section nerfed, no more ramps at the end... A giant NERF
