- Fully Live - with a nice soundscape on my CP70 with midi - playing #Korgwavestation AD, #JX10 and Omnisphere. I am using chords and melodies of this beautiful Vangelis song - but don't follow the structure. A little OBX just for fun - and a nice Moog Bass to keep things going
A little over a week ago I learned one of my most cherished friends had died suddenly. Hearing this music made me smile again. Thank you sir
I'm glad I could be some comfort
How are you now John?
Thank you for that seven-minute-holiday in V-Land...
That CS80 is ready for some Blade Runner Blues already!
Yep, it always is :-)
@@josesvintagekeys I sold mine for like $1200... but that was a great price then. TBH I probably paid $400 for it. Those were the days.
amazing performance, Vangelis is listening to you from heaven :)
that’s a wonderful compliment :-)
Great music and cool to see all these classics in action.
Vangelis is so underrated! I've loved his music since I saw 'Blade Runner' (1982). In the theater. Yeah, I'm old.
Vangelis, one of the greats. Live improv feels like the way his music should be played. Very enjoyable, thank you.
There a few live improvs of V on UA-cam - it’s the stuff I enjoy most. But also in his recordings you feel that quite a lot was made on the spot. It has always inspired me to work the same way.
Sounds more like Vangelis + Enigma + Giorgio, but without voices, SO GREAT! I need more.
One word...........Excellence !!!!
Had this on a loop for about an hour now. Each listen feels a little different. You've really taken the heart of his style another step and it's so gorgeous. Love all your lovely toys. This is magic. Thank you.
Got some tear in my eyes. Thanks for sharing...
It was just rain...
That was NICE ...!! I love how the CS80 cut right through the Mix..That was Great ...Thank you ..!!
txxs Ed!
Wow sounds lovely 😊
Absolutely loving this vibe!!!
Fabulous.........
if you ever need a vacation, I'll be more than happy to house sit (or synth sit) for a few weeks.
hahaha - I will remember that!
Awesome set up!!!!!! So jealous!!! I know that rooms is real warm!!! Lol!!! Great playing too!!!!
Mein tiefstes Kompliment. Mega. „Er hätte es genial gefunden“. Wärst ein perfekter Kandidat für einen „in the Air tonight“ Remix. Beste Grüße t.
vielen dank :-)
Excellent performance, well done!
Wonderfully Astonishing
Chapeaux Jose……absolutely stunning…..oh how I love this music…..it just makes you feel so at peace……please make more music…
I will I will!
*Just what I needed at midnight after a looong day. Very fine music, lovely production too.*
Beautiful, thank you.
Nicely done, old chap. I see many keyboards in your array that I've owned over the years. I liked this so I subscribed. Cheers.
welcome!
Beautiful sounds, well played! Particularly love the e-piano…
Next to the CS80 the Rhodes was heavily and beautifully used by the Maestro
Absolutely lovely. Thanks for sharing
Very nice!!! I love it! :)
Love that E piano improv. Good job.
So much tine! So many through-hole! So throbbing bass! It is good.
yeah baby!
Really nice and relaxing. Thank you!
Love The Sounds Spot On

CS80 was the main synthesizer on the entire Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) Discovery LP from 1979.
along with mini moog, various ARPs (ARP Quadra) and other synths of the time..
CS80 is a super synth..
greetings from spain..
I will check out the album!
@@josesvintagekeys
Hello Jose..
Here you can see some video clip (obviously it is a promotional video clip, it is not live) belonging to songs from the ELO's 1979 LP Discovery, in which you can see the recently deceased Richard Tandy, the legendary ELO keyboardist, with a CS80..
ua-cam.com/video/1jUvhJ_Tgzw/v-deo.html
According to some photos from that time of the recording sessions for that Discovery LP, Tandy also used an ARP Quadra among other ARP's, Moog's and other synths as I mentioned in my previous message..
Greetings from Spain
Interestingly ELO switched to Oberheim OBx for the Album 'Time' (their most consistent and cohesive album in my opinion). You can see one in recent shots of Jeff Lynne's home.
@@gustinian
yes, for the entire TIME LP of 1981, (and the later TIME Tour 81/82) the main synth was Oberheim. but also moog and the others mentioned before..
Throughout the 70's, both live and in the studio, the synth most used by Tandy with the ELO was moog (mini moog, polymoog, memory moog etc.), but also ARP (ARP 2600 is the main synth in the LP Out Of The Blue from 1977, along with other ARPs such as Omny, Odyssey, etc.), Yamaha, Roland, Korg, the latter three mainly in the 80s.
Along with all those synths, the sound of the ELO from 1971 to 1986, was created with other keyboards such as Honner's Clavinet, the classic Mellotron (mainly live), Wurlitzer electric piano, Grand Pianos Yamaha, etc etc...
greetings from Spain
Absolut tolle performance! Und schön zum Zuschauen!
Excellent !
amazing performance, marvin gaye is having fun
i doubt whether he was into this; although: de did use a TR808 for a whole album!
I love it 👌🎹👌
Beautiful!
About two weeks ago I pulled my synths from the storage, connected everything, I have about the same amount. And started to play after several years. All of a sudden striked me. That sensation when you become one with the instrument and if you are not careful you can play until sunrise. I would like to play Vangelis but what usually come out is OMD, especially from the album Dazzle Ships, those industrial sounds with the Solina always present. What triggers my "Vangelis" is the chorus on the piano.... damn! Then I turn the other way, another part of my brain starts throwing things at me. And the sensation is that, is not me playing or creating, I feel I am receiving that information from someone else. I feel like an antenna. Those are not my words, I am just typing them. And I can stay in that trance for hours.
love the Solina as well! Next week I will receive the VP330 - ultimate Vangelis string/choir machine :-) Looking forward to your music!
@@josesvintagekeys I have been collecting more synths from the 90s since I am a fan of electronica. Those remixes of the Depeche Mode singles, the same with Pet Shop Boys, Erasure and OMD.... The oldest synth I have is a D50 and I love it. If I had to choose I would keep that one. The VP330 is a monster, if you connect that to a very wide reverb... like those used in trance today.... you will be opening a portal. It is amazing that with a good instrument, all you need is just one key.
I have an access virus Ti2, and I keep jumping presents and they are good and such but they are effects, not instruments. Very nice collection you have there and you relly know how to use them.
Que maravilha!!!
Geweldig weer José🎉
Dank!! Duurde ff om weer iets moois te vinden. Kwam bij toeval op dit stuk van Vangelis.
Marvelous Jose❤
Dank Mike!
Man, what a setup. Thank you for sharing!
Bravo!
Lovely ❤
lovely reaction :-)
What a beutifull piece, Thank you.
sounds great!
txxs Nicolas! Very kind
Nice playing. What a collections, all my favorites.
Magnificent interpretation. A hug from Spain.
Big hug back!
Thank you. Nice mix!
Thank you for taking me back to the 70s when I was reading Synapse Magazine 😊
Magic!
LinnDrum, CS-80, CP-70, Fender Rhodes, ...You got all the Vangelis classics! (before he went all 'workstation' on us)
and i have just added the Roland VP330 and System 500 (copy of the Roland System 100 he also used) :-)) Sold the JP8 he didnt use anyway
@@josesvintagekeys Great! The VP-330 has the most beautiful strings and choirs! Love it!
Great show, and some nice toys you have😊
BRAVO!
Right ON Man 😊👍🏻
Very nice mate! Love your set-up, I wish I had that much room!!! 😉
had to kick the kids out :-)))
Weltklasse❤
Thank you
these are the comments I am hoping for - Txxs Mick!
That is one crazy fucking studio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know…. it is… took me 45 years ;-)
@@josesvintagekeys Alot of dedication definitively went into a studio like that. I can feel the creativity through the screen.
Well done man!😁
@@josesvintagekeys Gosh, you've really got some nice toys here!
👍👍👍👍 Nice !!!!!
Heel mooi!
dank Gerard

The Yamaha CS 80 is the most heaviest synth, it's weight is almost 100 kg, so i hope you're studio is on the groundlevel and i suppose you have a special construction underneath it. Nice piece of work, Vangelis was maybe the best synthplayer in the world.
Correcties the weight is 110 kg.
it is on the 1st floor - and on a special ‘heavy mixing desk’ stand :-). For me also Vangelis has a unique position the electronic landscape!
Oh, man, Jose! You have such taste in instruments and the arrangement. It sounds lovely and I nearly applauded the stereo from the Rhodes panning tremolo. I had a Yamaha CP-60, but I tired of tuning it, and moving it. I have a Yamaha HX-5 dual-keyboard organ as a velocity/aftertouch controller. It probably weighs more than your CS-80. My sound is all software. That's requiered a lot of curation. Cherry Audio just put out a Rhodes Chroma (and the expander) emulation that I've not yet installed. I had a couple of Chromas over the years. Always adding the internal MIDI adapter, etc. Always dealing with the unrelable power supplies.... Bravo! I wish I knew you.
Hi Erik! Glad you enjoyed it. I remember hearing the Rhodes Tremolo for the 1st time: Sheep by Pink Floyd on Animals. Instant love. The Chroma is a beautiful machine!
keeeeno
Decent performance ❤
I assume decent is some sort of compliment ;-)
@@josesvintagekeys OK, it was great actually 🤣
hahahahaha!!! tx Fademan -
❤️
Beautiful.. just subscribed. May I ask what mixing software you’re running in the background?
Universal audio :-)
Great job man! Panning effects are well done. Very tasteful playing overall. Now hand over that OB-X! Please. .
:-))) Love the OBX - first heard it when I was 16 on Moving Pictures. Wanted one ever since
@@josesvintagekeys IMO warmer sounding than the OBXa but you really can't go wrong with any of the Oberheim classics.
😮😮😮❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Lovely crystals and whispers droning in the background.
I always enjoy when reverbs get some room to become like an instrument rather than a mere effect.
Are those whispers human or boxed?
onmisphere and korg wavestation
Lovely , dreamy and noire . What is the crystal patch in the background throughout the track ?
Omnisphere (vangelis presets by Luftrum) and a Korg Wavestation AD
When your keys worth more than your house... And your house looks nice too from the video , so not saying there anything 👍😁🍺
hahaha chrzzz to you too :-). The house is as nice as the keys and also pretty vintage from 1939 :-))
Hola,felicidades.
Donde sacaste el sonido de pads que suena de fondo??
Omnisphere + Korg Wavestation + Roland JX10
Soo bloody good…It says improv, so is it original material or improv on vangelis themes?
improv on a Vangelis tune!

@@josesvintagekeys thanks, i didnt know this one actually! I liked yours almost better, it has less of the theatrical 80s feel that many of his songs had…in this case I liked the more mellow improv, well done! I feel like Vangelis is to you what Chicane is to me (he was inspired by Vangelis too btw) and I have built a studio similar to his like you did here with V😅
actually I did not know it either / it was in top 10 most popular V songs. Really 😊
@@josesvintagekeys well you spent 40 years collecting all the gear, and practicing/improvising…so not enough time to listen to all his 1000s of songs 😁
You should consider making a few sample packs, I think that would be awesome! Just some oneshots/sequnces/pads of the CP70 CS80 etc with your fx on them or dry! Id buy that
I am going to upload this video on my Instagram and say it is me, you look like me =) Thank you.
hahahaha
What stand do you have sitting on top of your CP70?
Top work, fella, but could you not get some more keyboards in there? Do you do requests? Memories Of Green is my fav, just sayin' is all...
well - i am switching - so: not more, but different :-) Roland System 500 and VP330 in - OB8 out
@@josesvintagekeys Synthmongus, mate.
Sorry: Is "La Rabida". Great cover, btw. :)
txxs - typo - corrected
Is it a Cp70-M or a CP70 with a midi kit?
midi kit
@@josesvintagekeys thanks !!! Wich one? I’d like to midify my own CP70
And Bravo for your videos
www.qrsmusic.com/PNOScan.php
you will live - sustain pedal doesnt work - but it’s optical; so if you keep the keys pressed - sustain is activated. You will love it!!
@@josesvintagekeys Great !!! thanks 🙏🙏🙏
At 6 min right towards the end you gently play a brassy string pad on the big synth with grey display…which synth is that??
hahaha :-) Oberheim OBX
