- When Maryland Blue Crabs become peelers, it means they are in the process of growth. They are about to shed their shell and emerge with all new organs and appendages, including limb regeneration if they have lost claws, legs, or swimmers.
In this little educational video, we discuss various telltale signs and interesting facts regarding peelers and soft crabs. They are hands down the best bait for fishing, and soft crabs are one of the finest delicacies in The United States. Plus, we dive in for an underwater look! The underwater footage shows crabs crawling and swimming around each other. They even like to use the camera as a hiding spot!
We are about to enter a peeler run during the first part of June. Please contact us on our social media pages to see the availability of soft crabs to eat or for bait.

Hey how about a video showing how your shedding operation is set up!????
Already did one. Gotta go back in the archives.
Question: Should you take out the lungs on soft shell crabs to cook and eat ? Thanks for the videos 👍
Yes. Face, lungs and apron are removed. We are gonna do a cleaning video soon.
Can you do a video on how to set up a soft crab tank? I would like to try setting up one of my own.
Do you have Tik Tok or access to it? I'll put one on there. It's pretty simple.
@@FVMissPaula I have access to it, just let me know what your Tiktok username is, thank you!
Its FV Miss Paula on there too. I'll put something up.
Use tap water conditioned with antichlor with 1 tablespoon non iodized salt per gallon. I use Morton rock salt same stuff I use for my seasoning. Put water in any tub or aquarium with proper filtration and an air stone or something to move water. I used a 29 gal aquarium and could house 10 crabs easy but had up to 15. Rarely had a still even up to 2 weeks later with some water changes.
how do i contact you to buy crabs? where are you located?
I don't sell much to the public. I have a really good market that gets them. Thanks for asking.
Not selling them soft shells to market??
I sell to both markets and the public.
do you guys ship?
Where you located? I don't but there are some places out of Crisfield that probably do.
@@FVMissPaula Washington state...I’m in the middle of the state and the only crab I’m gonna get is pre-cooked Dungeness crab! I’d Love to get about a dozen peelers fresh!
@@Chiptaker419 you want soft crabs. Peelers are hard crabs that are just about to shed. If you search soft crabs shipped you'll see a bunch of places that ship them.
@@FVMissPaula thanks for the info and replying!
Do you sell to the general public
