    I have always liked the BB58 and for the longest time it was a ‘grail piece’ for me up until the release of the BB58 GMT during Watches & Wonders in 2024, so when I finally decided to pull the trigger on the BB58, the AD I visited had also had a BB58 GMT, I tried it on and the Mrs and I loved it so much, she ended up buying it for me, I loved the fit, look and feel of the piece. I have a relatively small collection and prior to acquiring the BB58 GMT, I would wear my pieces in heavy rotation, I quickly became the piece that I wanted to wear the most, however I discovered that it’s too pretty to actually be used as an everyday tool piece, it’s the gilt markings and vintage looks that pushed it into the ‘dress’ category for me. I tried on the BB Monochrome and loved it but I now want to get the BB58 Blue, I think that would hit the sweet spot for me, it has modern aesthetic and a more toned down look about it, yet you get the tool esque look and functionality.

    • @SomeNiceWatches
      @SomeNiceWatches  21 день тому

      Appreciate the story and the detailed comment man. That feeling you're getting from the BB58 GMT is what it's all about. I actually tried on that one as well and I opted for the BB58 because I wanted a black diver but looking back I think that piece overall is more interesting to look at and sharper. I agree that it pushes towards the dress category. Congrats on that though man it's a sick piece. If you don't mind sharing what else do you have in the collection you mentioned?

    The gold tones look great with your skin tone. I like the OG 58 on you.
    I bought the Seamaster after owning the 58, i sold the Seamaster to rebuy the 58, mostly for 58's wearability.

      Much appreciated on the comment man. You know what I have to say that I didn't really look at that before your comment but now I do see how the gold does sort of blend or complement the color of my skin. Interesting point, I'll keep this in mind for the future. Thanks for bringing it up. Also, I actually just picked up the SMP myself as well, gotta say I LOVE it. I agree that if it’s not working out for you, and if you’re looking to get a Sub in the future, the BB58 will feel “lacking”. I bought a BB58 for the BB58, and enjoy it for what it is. And I own a Sub. Sometimes I’ll do a double take when I catch myself in a mirror wearing this watch, simply because of how well it wears on my wrist. It wears “warmer” than my Sub, and seems to go better with my skin tone as well. I thought it looked great on your wrist, but definitely to each his own. Don’t get a BB58 if you want something “better”. Get it for what it is.

    • @SomeNiceWatches

      That's the right way to purchase a watch. When you love it and get it for what it is, in all likelihood it will stick with you. For me it wasn't exactly like I was trying to consciously get a replacement for a sub, because honestly I think I would have been happier with the Omega Seamaster (which I got after) or the Monta Oceanking. It was me not realizing that I wanted a modern looking diver until after I bought it. Thanks for the comment man, appreciate you sharing your thoughts

    Great first video, really nice footage of the watch, new subscriber gained 👌 I had a BB58 which I sold to get the BB54. The 58 and 54 are both very subdued imo. I think one day if you move this on now you’ll end up getting it back as you can appreciate the subtlety of it next to more flashy looking watches. A BB58/54 goes great in a collection when you want a watch you can barely feel on the wrist and doesn’t scream for attention 👌

    I had a BB41 black in-house for 3 years and had to sell it over a year ago due to a financial emergency. I loved it. I bought the BB58 black in May this year and to be honest it felt underwhelming. I then bought the new BB41 monochrome with the 5 link a few months later and it's awesome. I rarely wear the 58 so I'm going to sell it and replace it with the latest 41 burgundy on a steal bracelet which I will change to the Tudor rubber strap which I will be picking up from my AD this week (the burgundy is awesome on the rubber strap).

    The 58 is so well made and perfectly proportioned for a sports watch. It borrows from classic Tudors without being a slave to an exact copy . It really is its own thing with an update to the classic Tudor 7924 Big Crown. The gilt bezel gives the 58 a warm feel, the red triangle offers a pop of color paying homage to the Tudor Big Crown, the chunky coin edge crown is so satisfying to wind with a refined matching coin edge bezel and I love the snow flake seconds hand. It’s different from the more traditional lollipop style. By the way, 39 mm is on the smaller side for a modern sized sports watch. I think anything smaller is playing vintage territory.

  • @dalliizz
    @dalliizz 15 днів тому +1

    I own the bb58 and i bought because i love the vintage look. I didint want a diver that resembled the black no date rolex sub, but something different. The gold accent, matt dial and no crown guards really caught my attention. The price is still really amazing, while the value keeps up pretty good 😊
    But if you like a more modern style, go with something else or the bb58 blue

    I was just this afternoon putting one of these on my wrist at my local AD. I really liked the look and the fit on my 6.75” wrist, and the bezel action blew me away. But there was just *something* keeping me from pulling the trigger on it; it just didn’t wow me the way a watch in that price category should. And I too have a white dial CW Sealander C63 although I think you have the 39mm; I have the 36 and, like you, it just blows me away. However, I wish I’d opted for the 39. It was also my first watch over $1000 and at the time I thought 39mm would be too big but I’ve come to realize that it isn’t and that 38-39mm is in fact my sweet spot. I think I’m going to sell my 36mm to finance a 39!

The SMP in black was my 2nd luxury watch and I wore it everyday for about 5 months, it is quite a bit more premium feeling/ vibe. @SomeNiceWatches I really liked the original SMP bracelet. It's chunky, it feels amazing and manly, lol. But honestly, I loved the black rubber strap with the deployment clasp. Strongly consider picking up one of those if you can.
      As for GS, I didn't have a local AD nearby, so I bought one blind. I was torn between a Snowflake, cherry blossom, mistflake, and a couple others. They have some many that looked good on UA-cam clips! It will sound odd but I didn't go spring drive for my first GS piece mainly because the service intervals are fairly short on them, and I heard they take quite a while to finish. I went for an SBPG005 which uses their 9F quartz. Since getting it, haven't lost or gained a second. The dial is a midnight blue sunburst that looks black in lots of situations but in direct light shimmers blue. The model I mentioned uses their 44GS case, which has amazing angles + imo a better looking bracelet. The polishing and finish on the hands/ indices are 10/10. This watch cost me about half of what the BB58 did (ordered from Japan on Chrono) but it impresses me more as a luxury piece. - I watched Teddy B video on Grand Seiko (he has 2 good tours/ overview) and the way they're made, the techs trained to be heavy specialized at x/y/z, etc, sold me on a GS.

    Definitely a handsome watch ... but sorry, personally I find it a bit boring. In trying to chose between the BB58, Longines Spirit Zulu, or Sea Master 300 ... I ultimately went with the Zulu in blue. It is stunning and incredibly accurate. Mine has lost 6 seconds over the past 3 weeks. Insane. I got the omega seamaster no time to die and although it was a very attractive and solid built time piece, it just didnt carry that humph for the price imo; the lightness and the not so modern looking dial did not reflect the price tag for me.

    I have owned several different brands watches and now I can easily recommend according to wrist size of people and lug to lug measurement of the watches. For your 6.5" size wrist, Omega SMP300 will not look good, it will be huge and clunky. Your wrist is same as my manager, and he loves his Sinn 556A RS. I really like to see that watch on him too. You can wear BB54 as well as him. BB58 is the one you can carry the most with that wrist size. I recommend don't get any watch above 47.8 mm lug to lug, the watch will wear you.

  • @hjtechguy
    @hjtechguy 13 днів тому +1

    Dude that Black Bay looks actually amazing on you, and it fits that get up you have. Watches are an extension of you and other clothing you wear. BB58 looks great if your dress choice is under the radar and your have a personality that reflects that. I had that watch but I have a very flashy personality and thus a colorful dress code, so I sold that watch for black bay burgundy with jubilee (upgrade). I do miss wearing that watch in my downtime and alone state where I was by myself. I really bonded deeply with that watch.
    I always say that you don't choose a watch, a watch chooses you. I often see men wearing watches that don't reflect their personality and that's when it looks a bit off. Know who you are, and watches will follow.

      You have a very very cool perspective on watches. You’re right, when I look at other collections they very often fit with the personality of the person who owns them. @@SomeNiceWatches Yea man. I think you should keep the bb58. It matches your skin tone and your dress style really well. It honestly looks like an extension of who you are. Yea your new Omega seamaster is objectively a better watch. I don't doubt it. And it's more modern like what you're looking for. But just hold onto it for a while. I think there are definitely times when one sells a watch, and it's not always necessarily when they get a better watch. It's when their own sense of self within changes and that watch no longer represents who they are, or perhaps have never really reflected who they were.
      Like I when I feel more successful in life, personally and professionally, I will move on to Zenith and Rolex. But I'm not there yet. I don't feel ready to wear what these watches represent and market (even if I have the wherewithal for to pay). But when I do, then the watches will naturally follow. As they will just be reflections of who I am now, not who I want to be. That's when it's dangerous to be in this collection journey, trying to fill gaps in your life with material possessions.

    I have 18 cm, 7.1" wrist size, and I had Omega SMP300 in Blue 2022 model with oem metal bracelet + oem rubber strap, full box. I traded my BB58 for that watch + cash. After 1 month, Omega was too flashy for me and drawing too much attention like a Rolex, and didn't suit my life. Some people also assumed it was fake. And the watch was heavy and 50 mm lug to lug is really hefty for my wrist. I believe 19 cm wrist size man can handle SMP300, but below that you will be wanting back your BB58. Then I traded my SMP300 to get BB58 back again with losing money in the process. But after all, I selected my brand, it is Tudor. Don't get me wrong, I always dreamed Omega and when I got it, I was top of the moon. There is this thing, there is a difference to own a watch, or watch owns you. Omega owned me, I couldn't wear them after 3 wears to the outside because I was too afraid not to get that scratched. BB58 is a watch that suits my life style and not really flashy and blingy, and really comfortable for 12-14 hour outings, I'm using 11 links and it is dream comfort. I also had new Tudor Ranger for 2 weeks, and I didn't do any microfit after using 11 links. So that T-Fit thing is no worries for me anymore. I really like the rivets, the vintage design, and the rose gold indices match my wedding ring rose gold. Omega is hard to wear whole day, and the bracelet is really 90s vibe that you love it first, then you might hate it after some time. I hope you find your dream watch and stick to it. But it was BB58 black gilt for me. I sold my whole watch collection. Now, I only got this watch, and super happy when I'm going outside.

    • @H_tudor
      @H_tudor 22 дні тому +1

      Currently own both of them and to be fair 50mm lug to lug is really wearable but it really depends on your wrist shape. I have 17cm wrists but they’re really flat which makes the area where the watch lays on larger. So imo wrist circumference isn’t as important as wrist width from the top

    • @WatchGeek8167
      @WatchGeek8167 22 дні тому +2

      58 aesthetically is perfect. Can’t get any better IMO. Both it terms of look, and fit. I just worry about what’s underneath the hood. I’m not sure these movements are designed to be serviced. I think they likely will do a “hot swap” when the time comes for service.
      Omega at least gives you back the old parts that they replaced during a service. That way you know they actually serviced it, instead of replacing the movement entirely. Plus the display caseback on the SMP allows you to clearly see the movement serial number. That way, you know right away if there was any funny business.
      Even then, I don’t yet trust movements with free sprung balance (used by both Tudor and Omega. And Rolex). I think they are extremely hard to regulate. You can’t do an on the fly adjustment. The balance needs to be stopped every time an adjustment is made. With a regular “non-free sprung” balance, you can adjust on the fly, tracking your adjustments in real time using the time grapher.
      I just don’t know if it’s worth all the hassle. I feel like they will just hot swap in a new movement, and move on, if time keeping becomes an issue.

    • @michaelriera6277
      @michaelriera6277 21 день тому

      There is 0 evidence these movements are hot swapped. Of course you don’t have to return to Tudor/Rolex for service as these movements are all completely serviceable by any good watchmaker. They are fantastic movements. There’s a lot of pure misinformation on UA-cam.

This is partially (unknowingly I guess to you) the reason why u enjoy ur CW . Consider buying a diff color dial / bezel watch and keep this instead since it looks great on u and buying another black one will make u feel the same in 2 years time

However, if you have a multiple watch collection, you may want something with a little more spice, because for all its goodness, the 54 is a bit boring looking watch at least when compared to the 58. Unlike the 54, the 58 is not an exact replica of back catalog Tudor. The gilted bezel adds a nice warmth and harmony with the gold on the dial, the red triangle harkens back to the Tudor 7924 Big Crown and serves to break up the monotony of the watch. I also find the more refined coin edge bezel and matching crown very elegant. Both great watches, but the BB58 is the OG.

      The hands on the 54 feel very mismatched to me

      I agree. Almost looks like an afterthought.

    I have a BB58 blue. It’s definitely overrated. That watch feels cheap compared to IWC and I still want a Rolex Sub lol

      Same! lol the Sub is on my list for the future, just a bit too far out of my range for right now, but maybe next year I’ll seriously look at it. I am not too up on IWC’s collection but I did see the Mark XX in some videos and that one looks killer to me. I considered the blue bb58 too but yeah it felt a bit plain in my opinion. Appreciate the comment man.

      If it felt cheap why did you buy it? I tried the Mark 20 at my AD and found it nice but very overpriced for the rather plain aesthetic. So I passed on it. I ended up getting a Laco at 1/3 the price and looks amazing on black leather.

      @ thought it would scratch that Rolex Sub itch but it didn’t. Also I got it at a Rolex ad so I can have some purchase history. The XX is amazing. The bracelet is the most comfortable I’ve owned and the plain aesthetic is the appeal. You really have to own it to admire the small details of the watch. The Laco might scratch that itch for you but the BB58 didn’t for me if that makes sense
