@@JohnSmith-el2nj Yes he did do COOT at the De Montfort Hall, Leicester in 1965. We rehearsed it for a week at Corsham and visited him at his house. I have footage of the house from a home movie. Watch the upload again from 4'17'' . I include a copy of the 1965 programme in it and a couple of pics of the massed choirs and the LSSO with SMT conducting. Not at all misleading.
Why is it a disservice? The Leicestershire Schools orchestra made recordings with Tippett on several occasions for major record labels as well as programmes for numerous television stations. He was the orchestra's patron and principal guest conductor for many years as can be seen from my personal footage and photographs. He toured with them, trained them and conducted concerts with them on a regular basis.

I sang this great masterpiece nearly 20 years ago in the choir. It moves my heart till today...
Saw it performed in the cathedral of Bremen for the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
It was a very dignified ceremony.

Interesting footage. Great to compare the two periods from this distance, but a shame the footage couldn't be coordinated with the music.
The archive footage was Wagner's Mastersingers, Elgar's Cockaigne and Nimrod. There is no footage of the Tippett unfortunately.
