How the F did I end up living in a small little hidden country called Belarus?
The answer is not straight forward hence the 25 minute video hahaha.
Yep, Covid played a big role here, but it is not so simple...
I hope you enjoy hearing my personal story...

Very interesting story for me as I am probably your polar opposite - Born in Russia, Female, and have been living in Australia for almost 5 years (including through COVID). All of those feelings you've described - being locked up, feeling like you'd pay anything to get out of your country - I've felt it, but exactly at the opposite side of the world where you wanted to escape TO! I had to jump through so many hoops and go through so much pain to be able to live in Australia that seeing your story made me feel nothing but irony.
However. After almost 5 years, I decided on my own accord to leave Australia (even though I didn't have to) because of....*drum roll* THE MEN.
Coming from a very similar background as you probably found the belarusian girls to be, I couldn't help but see that Australian men are the most unserious, committment-phobic people I have ever met. And as someone who places a high value on marriage and having children, facing time and time again the average Aussie guy saying "oh i'm never getting married. Why the hell would you want children?" I realized that as much as I loved the country, if I ever wanted to have a family, staying in Australia it wouldn't happen.
Just thought it would be interesting to share a story from the flip side of the coin.

The people of Belarus are the best. Belarus hasn't suffered from mass "tourism" the way the rest of the west has. Belarus is still European. Not a mass conglomerate of trash from other continents.

Your story is fascinating. I studied economics and industrial and civil engineering in Belarus. Several years ago I wanted to move to Australia. There were no political or economical reasons, I just wanted to live by the ocean for a while (a childhood dream). I visited Melbourne (my relatives live there), Sydney and Adelaide. My choise felt on Adelaide. I agreed the terms of a contract with the University of Adelaide. After the documents came from the university, I was denied a working visa 2 times. And so my little dream ended. It seemed to me the consulate did not like that I wanted to take my wife and children with me, apparently they decided that I would stay. But I didn’t have such an intention, my parents stayed at Belarus, and I'm their only child just couldn't leave them alone without my help in future. I wish you GOOD LUCK in your journey and hope you get what you want. Be who you are and you be OK.

Thank you for the interesting subject. I'm Canadian and have visited Europe many times including Belarus. I love Belarus but I believe Canada is a better country compared to others worldwide. The issue with Europe is the depression among young people. Most of the people I've met in Europe are nice but not willing to help anyone unless they must!, and they look desperate and hopeless. They don't seem to be highly motivated to making changes in their lives or getting seriously involved in businesses. They seem to like a very basic life and instead of building it, just dream about it. Maybe because I'm Canadian and in Canada we treat and help strangers as our own friends and are more motivated when it comes to new businesses and opportunities! However, we should mention that one of the biggest issues we have in the west is the new globalization movement which is fortunately rejected by Belarus, so far.

I’ve been living here since April 2021 (previously only a month in 2020, left in 2021 briefly but back now).
You’re bang on about the women and how western ways absolutely do not work (nor should they). My fiancé (Belarusian) is the smartest woman I’ve ever met and has more morals, family values than anyone I’ve ever been with.
You’re also bang on about the culture and sense of togetherness.
Final point, it’s very clean! I’m a Canadian living in Minsk.

@@AusValue I felt it was the opposite. I met her in Minsk but she was not desperate and I definitely had to work and show intelligence. Also if she felt any pressure that I was only looking for “one thing” she would have left immediately. Honest, smart and sincere conversations were key and she didn’t have any red flags in terms of forcing me to pay for anything. In reality, if I tried to buy her love, again, her alarms would go off as my intensions were not sincerely of getting to know her better and she would have walked. The friends/communication first is definitely true.

Wife was in Belarus with son and all my in laws and wife got covid and got hospitalized. Had no other option but to come here to look after my son and then stayed here. Now planning to start my business here as it took quite a time to figure out what business can invest in and it don't go under in little time.

Welcome to the club. As an expat Melbournian (also studied economics) who has been in Europe the last 20 years try to enjoy the ride for as long as you can. Personally, I just felt something was missing in Melbourne and I could not put my finger on it. In many ways I felt more at home in Europe (and the girls were not only hot but seamed more approachable). I am enjoying your channel and can relate to many of your experiences. In your situation I think that there would be many universities across Europe who would be keen on your services. At least here in Prague;-).

Fascinating story, you end up in Belarus by accident. A normal girl in Belarus is pretty conservative, it takes a long time to develop a relationship. The divorce rate there is one of the highest in the world. I have a friend who has been there for many years, seen a lots of girls, but he left there

Secondly, I don't like to forget my Russian language which I spent for 7 years in Russia from 1990 till 1997 as student . Sir, if you like to live in Southasean country and still want to work, let's try to visit Cambodia of because one of my Australian friend who comes from Melbourne too, she's working as English teacher and she's really good for living in Cambodia at current stage.
