I've used an are419 hellfire on my 300prc HMR wilderness. And it definitely did its job. But finally got my Deadair Nomad30. Great suppressor for my rifle. The custom you got there is a hell of a job man
Another great video Shawn. I put the Area 419 Hellfire on a .280 AI and the Sidewinder on a .300 PRC with great results. But nothing like the custom brake you put on my customers .300 WIN MAG, that is a work of art!
Would like to hear your thoughts on barrel profiles. You could even add in the CF ones vice stainless etc. But lot of stuff I hear about is Sendero, I like medium Palma, varmint, m40 etc.
Over the years I think I've had every barrel contour known to man. I've kind of gravitated towards certain contours but like everything else, that is constantly evolving as well. I prefer to shoot the heaviest contour I am comfortable with for the intended purpose. My hunting rifles with SS barrels all run the sendero contour. It's not a light pencil barrel but it't not a heavy comp. contour either, just a nice compromise. Lately, everything I've been making for customers is Proof carbon fiber. They save you a little weight over a comparable length SS barrel and they shoot fantastic. Other than the increase in cost for the blank, I see no reason to run a full SS barrel for a dedicated hunting rifle. My personal opinion. 😁 On the competition side of things, I run very heavy contours... think MTU / M24 / Straight 1.20 / 1.25 contours. The weight is beneficial for keeping the recoil down and spotting your shots as well as balancing the rifle just forward of the magazine. So now for my reasoning behind some of this. I like heavier contours on hunting rifles than some other people because first off, I don't have physical limitations that keep me from packing a 12lb rifle vs a 10lb rifle or 8lb rifle. I know lots of people with bad knees, backs, etc who have to run the lightest rifle possible. I'm getting to that point myself, lol. The weight helps the rifle settle for a more accurate shot which is key for the areas I hunt where the shots are routinely over 400 yards and sometimes as far as 900-1000. Wide open country. One other thing to consider, if you run a suppressor, the heavier contour barrels are much less effected by hanging that weight on the end of the muzzle. Also, I have one rifle that is dedicated to hunting only, my 7mm RSAUM. That rifle is shot sporadically throughout the year for a few shots but really it is saved for rifle deer season. My other rifles all get shot a lot, on a regular basis. The heavier barrels make them more pleasurable to shoot at the range and soak up the heat from extended shooting sessions better that pencil barrels. Barrel contour is one of those very personal preferences. I've always shot heavy rifles ever since I was a little kid so I'm used to that. With my back issues I can definitely see myself exploring the lighter contour barrels and lighter rifles here in the very near future. Hopefully that answers some of your question! Thanks for watching! -Shawn
I was able to pick up a Defiance Tenacity action, raw stainless, .308 bolt face and AI/AW mag cut for $980 today. Is that a decent deal? Question is what do I build out of it 😅?
I need you to cut me a .308 barrel with that magic reamer you have! I shot a friends Sig Cross last year, and ever since I’ve been seriously wanting to build a compact hunting rifle in .308, with an 18” proof barrel, in one of the MDT chassis with a folding stock.
Absolutely. I'm building an ultralight rifle now for another customer, 30" Proof CF (sendero light contour), MDT HNT26 chassis and a Terminus action. Shoot me an email: Shawn@triggeredprecision.com
I have the 419 3 port and had to swap back n forth to make sure I wasn’t crazy the difference was so much…on my dd5v3…it short stroked a min then worked its way out of it…port erosion??
Hey dude! I had a chance to shoot the rifle with that 419 brake and wow. Very effective. For your DD, I'd check the gas rings and replace them depending on the round count. If not that, check for leaks around your gas block. I'd start there.

Another spectacular build, just gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
Man beautiful builds! Imagine what those rifles will be capable to do with reloads specially for long range (600 to 1000 yards)
Indeed! When the weather cools, I'm going to take my customer out to stretch that 300 PRC out to a mile. Should be a piece of cake. 💪🏻
Nice rundown on some of your recent work! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Todd!
Nice, thanks for sharing.
