Hello, native English speaker here. The phrase "on the other hand" doesn't really require that "on the one hand" come before it. While it is certainly fine/correct to include both phrases, it is fine to only say "on the other hand" as well for everyday conversation. People say one without the other all the time. Perhaps on an essay, however, you might want to include both. Even so, that would depend on the teacher because it is not really grammatically incorrect. In fact, I feel like it would be somewhat pedantic to lower someone's grade over the omission of one of the phrases and most teachers probably wouldn't even realize the omission occurred.

I have been using though, although, even though and yet without focusing on it at all. It's just enjoyable to realize that. I think that sometimes we just add some words to our active vocab without even knowing that we did cause of the frequent listing to native speakers or teachers on UA-cam. It also comes by watching movies. It's super cool how the words just flow out of your mouth naturally.

(Sounds neutral. Just stating a fact) Vs "Though I liked the dinner, I didn't like the dessert." (Sounds like you want to put extra emphasis on not liking the desert.) This may vary by demographic but in general the emphasis is put on the primary topic of the sentence. The first sentence sounds like you are talking about the good dinner but just didn't like the dessert while the second sentence is about the bad dessert even though you had a good dinner. This is a small detail but knowing this can help prevent miscommunication or unintended meaning.

Ahhh, another word for that is "impromptu". That's more common I think (I'm American). But yeah, I think the best advice is to just not care and just the mistakes. Just do your best and people will most likely understand you, doesn't really matter if it is perfect grammar or not.

Ahhh, another word for that is "impromptu". That's more common I think (I'm American). But yeah, I think the best advice is to just not care and just the mistakes. Just do your best and people will most likely understand you, doesn't really matter if it is perfect grammar or not.
