- Back in 2013, on the 2nd episode of The Texas Bucket List, we visit a baker in Bellville who happened to have a real life castle. So when we hit our 175th episode, we headed back to see how Mike Newman is handling his kingdom built with baked goods.

Mike passed away last month.
He is a kind guy! His sandwiches &donuts are delicious! I love his dog! His kitchen still looks the same three years ago when I went… wait but,… lady siya was not there and never seen her at all! Wonder what happened to her existence? I don’t know.

Well no, he’s been running a bakery probably since like the mid 90s. He didn’t actually start the project till 1998, The entire process overall took him about 10 to 12 years before he even was able to live in the castle. Then eventually he probably realized that he can easily profit based off tourism and the bakery. Combined earnings and smart budgeting can easily lead to a project this big. None of this happened over night and he’s still adding interior add ons.
Maybe I should explain it better and let me I would like to my daughter she found this place to take her grandchildren and I went just for the ride out of boredom and I had taken my Walker and no matter where I went it was dirt gravel it got into everything so I went inside the castle and there was a lady sitting there and I didn't know who she was I said do you mind if I sit here and I'll make sure that I'm not in anybody's way she said not at all and she and I got to talking and come to find out after we had exchanged phone numbers her daughter dates Mike her name is zi zai zai can't pronounce her name is they lived in Hawaii where they lived everywhere and she was there to the guitar player for Bill Haley & the Comets well we had something in common cause at one time I was with Willie Nelson for 7 months and so we started calling each other texting we went to lunch a few times I went over and spend a week with her and weekends with her and she's 87 years old and her daughter and Mike done their thing at the castle and she wanted to stay with her therefore she didn't have to go stay with the grandkids but I didn't have a problem. She was a cool lady she smokes a lot of pot I don't but that's not that's her that's illegal but that's neither here though there but we would want to plan a trip to San Antonio and because I was driving and my daughter made all their rights back and so she asked me how much it was going to cost and it was about five hundred something dollars I'm not quite I said but we can split the difference if there's any more of that I'll make up the difference and that's when she started telling me that she couldn't afford to go to go be with God then she and she just the text stop and I didn't quite understand the text and so I text her back and when she asked if I want to come spend the weekend with her I told her know that I was not going to spend that summer which was this past summer sitting home that I was really going with my niece and I was going to go over the countryside which I did that day our friendship ended whatever friendship we had and she told me that I didn't understand that she didn't want to have anything else to do with me maybe we could meet up again down the road I told her I said well I listen to you I won't even go into what the checks really but the details of it and nothing I won't even go there but I told her that I understood what she said. I listen to her and I heard her and good night that's experience I had with the people there at the castle there then and Needville Belleville I have to laugh about it because it was really no big deal I'm not impressed by people like that the bottom line was I was being used and because I was not going to pick up the tab for the trip to San Antone that's when her real self come through and I'm glad that it did she did she does did know George Thorogood and the Destroyers and so she had some free tickets we went to the House of Blues there's a treat they knew them personally they were friends and that's cool I was not impressed I mean was glad to get out of the house and how little bit of social life afterwards we went to the band and talked to them and they said I guess they call it a meeting grade talk to Jeff the drama for a little bit that was about it it was nice we went out our way a Georgia very much and I don't know what happened to this lady she's just I realized after it was all said and done that they were using made no more but nothing but a babysitter to stay with their mother cuz I'm 75 and am I still have a lot of life in me I'm not going to the babysitter know the woman for somebody else to go have a good time no that's not me I'm living my life to the fullest cuz I don't have a whole lot of time left I don't know what happened to the wonder what causes well that was all the cops in the trip to San Antonio and I didn't pick up the whole tab that's what it was all about and I could sell out of more things that I'm not even going to go there it's not even worth it that's my experience with the castle my his girlfriend and her mother and all their relationships all tied in together and I'm glad I found out as soon as I did it doesn't take long to find out who a person is or what they're about but my main goal is when I go into any kind of relationship I'm going to find out off the bat really where you coming from cuz I read people and I read them well I set little traps out for people to see how they will act for it have you ever heard the saying you can pluck a chicken in the chicken never knows that it's been plucked that's what I do I really do this to find out who people truly are and then I make my decision and if it's not right I go forward and I don't look back I can say this very easy and honestly because I was abandoned at 5 I was raised in an orphanage with 200 kids and yes you learn people real quick especially when you're indoctrinated to it and I'm so honest I'm brutally honest to a fault that's how I've always lived my life that's how I've always taught my children am I perfect hell no but I'm not a con I don't play people I don't like games and I will get the hell out of your way that you will never see me again I have always lived my life that way and it's always been the best way to live my life openly and honestly thank you very much bucket list
