    This shows the love men have for their machines. They are all our babies. Most do not understand this love...

    Young man. I really like this Chanel. You work hard you don’t have the newest equipment but it’s yours. Sorry about the loss. In 1980 we had a tornado go through our farm and take almost everything. Maybe the best thing that happened to me because it taught me to hold on to things loosely. Buildings bins sheds equipment can all be replaced as you found out. Now I’ll tell you what to hold on tight to. Your wife your faith your friends your family you health. Iron breaks but people die. Love you and God loves us all. John 9:3

    Dude, you're fine. No one was hurt. Your loss was as best you could expect. You'll recover. Sorry it happened, but you still have your farm, which a lot can't say that, I know personally. A learning experience for sure. Pick yourself up and move on. You'll make it. Hold your head up and move forward. Nothing to be ashamed of. So many have lost their farms. Your lucky.

    Sorry for the loss , glad no one was hurt. I had the same situation with a fire on a school bus late model several years ago. It was traced to an unprotected battery lead, unfused, no loom. The insurance company tried to blame the install of the two way radio, which was correct, and we determined it was the battery lead that wore threw, never correct from the factory in a place that was not able to be inspected. A battery disconnect as close to the battery is a good investment on all equipment. and make sure fuse all accessories, i.e. monitors and radios. If you can not install the disconnect on the hot lead do to too many taps on the positive install it on the negative. Someone of a higher power was looking over you !

    Good thing that no kids were in or on it while it caught on fire.
    I remember working in a field when my brother was running the 826 Hydro Demonstrator and it’s air cleaner caught on fire. My brother used my Alcatraz sweatshirt to knock out the flames. I don’t remember anything else on the farm catching on fire.

    Not the 9330 😭😭😭😭😭😭 ...... She will be missed terribly!!!!
    Glad you and your wife are safe and am glad you didn't have the big beauty in the shed. So sorry for your loss.
    Now, everyone should make a priority of checking their electrical systems on a schedule. As someone who takes pride in custom audio installs, I encourage my customers to do a peek through at least once a month. You can never be too careful and nobody is ever too busy to take a minute to glance over the hot wires!!!!
    Is it odd if I feel like a piece of me died with the tractor??

    I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your first big purchase - your tractor. I'm delighted to hear that the insurers have been helpful in dealing with the issue of it being burnt to the ground and a total loss and treating you fairly. I have another farmer in Canada who had a similar catastrophe and it was not well handled well at all and took in excess of 6 months to come to a conclusion and a poor settlement as well. Any sort of farm fire is awful for all concerned - I know because I've been there and had that experience and it is not good and stays with you in your mind for a real long time.
    At least you also had the opportunity to test out that hire tractor which it is clear you did not enjoy and I'm equally pleased that you have found a replacement machine although as yet it remains sight unseen so lets hope that it is satisfactory, meets your needs and that you enjoy using it..
    I do wonder also about the wisdom of keeping all your major equipment and tractors close together with the risk of fire always there - electricity is a wonderful servant but, like water, a truly dreadful master when it gets out of control.

    We have a 9350 and last fall I was chisel plowing. It was alittle wet and the corn leaves were sticking to the tires. They carried around and were blowing on the turbo and it lot on fire right there. This was at like 2-3 in the morning and if you ever needed a wake up call that’s definitely it!

    Hate to see it happen but like you said it could have been way worse. Farmers are some of the best folks in the world when it comes to adapting and overcoming. I saw this happen to another farmer on you tube about 10 years ago with a John Deere tractor. Someone in the comments made a very good suggestion. As close as you can in proximity to your batteries, install a main shut off switch. It's cheap insurance against something like this happening again as far as electrical fires. Sorry about the loss of your tractor, hopefully with the money you pay for insurance you can get what you want to replace it.

  • @peteparker7396

    I had just bought one of the first 8 row strippers in our area. A JD 7455, brand new. I ran it over about 1000 acres and got a call in the middle of the night that it was on fire. Like yours mine was electrical. The only thing that was salvaged was the header, and it needed a little help from the heat. Same thing, I put shut off switches on everything. And every night I turn them off. That was back in 1998. It’s a sick feeling.

    Ethan, you handled that pretty well. I've seen folks fall apart when they loose a piece of equipment like that. All I can say is, you can thank the Lord for stopping you from parking that tractor in the shed. I hope you get those battery disconnects installed on all the equipment. I thought you had them. Lessons learned. Keep moving forward with the farm buddy.

    I feel sick at the sight of that tractor all burnt up. It was my favorite tractor, it was in fantastic condition for it's age. I'm glad you've got insurance, hopefully you can replace it with something very similar - maybe that 9350 you were looking at a while back would help fill the void for the 9330.

  • @bret_Lambky
    @bret_Lambky 3 роки тому

    I echo everyone’s reply! I hate seeing this happen to someone’s livelihood! Might be able to salvage some steel stuff from the tractor! Maybe, unless it’s all warped!
    Thanks for sharing! Have faith you will come out stronger on the other side!
    Your solution sounds solid! To bad the mfg doesn’t implement that process! Maybe shutoff switches should be on all equipment!

    same happened to former employers 970case insurance $ restored everything except cab, inside it's still just like yours he said it was his dads first new tractor would not get rid of it. after driving it all day/everyday i smelled like charcoal. for some reason steering wheel did not burn

  • @dalepilsworth540
    @dalepilsworth540 3 роки тому

    I had the exact same thing happen to my CaseIH 9250 and it was caused by the same issue. Where the positive battery cable was clamped to the frame, the clamp wore through the insulation and clamped right next to the positive cable were the fuel lines and hydraulic lines..... so it arced into the other lines and away it went.
