I confess. I'm a longtime dps and tank player that now dabbles in healing. Your beginner guides helped a ton. It packaged everything right in my brain, which made the healer confidence rise. Excellent content :)
Thank you so much.
Seconding this, I've never healed as it has just seemed out of reach for me - these guides make it seem so much more accessible, and I'm looking forward to trying it this week. Thank you and keep up the good work :D
🔥💯🆗🌬️💨🐔
I see so many guides explaining everything super in-depth. Awesome for those who are high tier players, but those of us who are still learning really need something like this that goes through the basics as well as the do's and don't's
Found this really helpful, thanks!
Learning to Resto Shaman (havent healed since TBC) and this is the best guide for beginners to the spec/class Ive come across, thank you!
I am a healing type of player. Usually I stick to one healer to master the class and have a little fun with it. This xpac I started out as an Evoker because it was new. Now I am going back to my other healing classes and leveling them up. You are my go to for a refresher on each healing class. Giving me the confidence to play the class again. Thank you for all of your hard work.
Just came back to the game and was feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of talents and buttons. Your guide was what I needed to overcome anxiety and start healing in dungeons. Started today. Thanks man.
Awesome guide. This is so well structured for my brain to understand thanks man. Im logging on to boost my shammy up ready for S2 raiding and this is exactly what I needed.
Thank you for a legit beginner video.
I get so annoyed when someone who is completly new to healing wants to learn and all the videos out there labeld "beginner" is where they talk about M+ for 90% of the video. Not going thru how serten spells work or synergize ect.
Great video for actual beginners, just made my shaman healer yesterday and having lots of fun now when I understand how the spells work 😊
This is exactly why I made these. I plan to update them for every new expansion so keep an eye out :]
This was great! Very thoughtful and clear.
Appreciate the video man. Coming to this game/spec after playing sage heals in SWTOR for years. Shaman feels both similar to sage and yet different enough to make it exciting to learn. And guides like this make the learning process easier 👍
Thank you so much! I'm trying to dabble in healing and your guide helps me a lot!
thank you so much for doing these. ive been playing wow and im a p decent tank and dps but ive never healed and these are really making it alot easier. love hearing what the spells do and when theyre good..
i think a video series of like, JUST spec/class specific CD explanations and how they work, how they affect the rotation, and why and when youd choose certain things. the cd stuff throws me i think i have all the shaman cds up the entire dungeon lol idk when to use em
Started healing yesterday. Ty for the content.
Great guide! Keep the good work!
Great video. Thank you.
super useful beginner guides, thank you 😊
Thank you!
Great guide for a new resto shaman
Fantastic video, thank you
Thanks for this good guide
Talents, Stat Priorities, Additional Spells, and Further gameplay tips will be talked about in the full class guide I make once Dragonflight launches.
The beginners guide is aimed towards players just picking up the class for the first time.
Corrections
- Riptide now generates 2 stacks of Tidal Waves and Chain Heal now consumes Tidal Waves. So the gameplay loop is still the same as explained in the video but you can now spend with chain heal, giving us more options when spending our Tidal Waves stacks.
Quite a few interesting totems in Dragonflight
Thank you, I played dps and randomly tank, and i didn t knew healing was so hard for me
I believe Tidalwave interaction with Chain Heal is changing in DF. Chain Heal can consume tasks but does not generate then. It consumes them for reduced cast time just like healing wave.
Awesome! Thank you for the note, I'll be sure to include this in the full 10.0 guides.
Greate guide much appreciated, can you show us the talents please? 😊
I have been scared of healing for years. Your guide is really helping me to be brave. Can you talk about keybinds and/or add-ons to start with?
@derrickpage8602 check out my "ready check workshop" series. There should be I believe 5 videos in total and it goes over keybinds, UI, Mindset, finding a guild, etc.
If you have trouble finding it let me know
I would cast healing surge before healing wave unless healing wave procs as a faster and more powerful option.
Shaman are looking like they might be outrageous in DF, glad I'm going with Resto/Feral Druid and Resto/Ele Shaman for the expansion.
Yep so far its looking like I might be maining shaman for my raiding guild. Ive been having so much fun with it on the prepatch so I'm excited :)
@@Moarcookiezlive are you not afraid of no passive damage in m+ and a bit low healing overall? what do you think?
People are a bit down from what I can see in discord. thanks
@@MihneaDanBanu Every season its always the same, everyone over exaggerates changes to the meta. Every class is capable of healing 99% of keys. Its only when you start pushing top 1% keys where you'll notice any difference.
Looks like shaman got tons of new skills when i looked on icyveins
I can't thank you enough for your instruction. I used your resto druid video this winter and quickly got solid enough to effectively heal and thoroughly enjoy it in pve and pvp (almost immediately was topping healing in epic and regs bgs).
Just leveled an enhancement shaman this week, and while fun, I am getting my ass whooped while gearing up especially in pvp.
So using this guide, I'm going to queue and gear up as Resto spec for quick queues and more effective play in BG instead of dying on the front lines every 10 seconds as an under geared and under skilled melee shaman lol.
Thank you!!! You are a very good teacher!
EDIT: WAIT A SEC... is this video totally obsolete now? does 'tidal wave' passive even exist now? i didnt play DF shaman before 10.0.7 so ... idk
Tidal waves still works. Its just that Chain Heal consumes stacks rather than generates them now. So you always generate with Riptide, and you spend with everything else
@@Moarcookiezlive oh sweet thanks sir! Just today am getting talents and buttons laid out, so I appreciate the update.
I found Tidal Wave in the talent tree now after looking again maybe I'm just overwhelmed yet
Great video man. Really good.
Question , I went to the discord to find the weakaura your using for your click healing but struggling to find that. Your assistance would be appreciated 😊
Just send me a dm on discord @moarcookiez and I'd be happy to help c: I use mouseover macros for my healing spells
Cloudburst healing range is from the shaman not the totem so you can be far away from it
thanks for the guide! please can you recommend any useful addons ?

Do you have a video with your UI, weak auras, and add-ons? Or do you have a spot where you have links to all?
Yep. In the community discord linked in the description of any of my videos.
If you need any help just contact me on discord
@@Moarcookiezlive Thanks man!
How do I cast on the ground around me instead of clicking where to put the healing rain
Make the following macro
/cast [@cursor] Healing Rain
or
/cast [@player] Healing Rain
@@Moarcookiezlive I love you
It's a good guide thank you but you didn't talk about cooldowns or talents. I think I saw Ascendence on your UI but you didn't talk about when to use it, best spells to cast in Ascendence...etc just as an example
Those topics are meant to be for the patch specific guides, or by using resources I talk about in the "Ready Check Workshop" Series on my channel
the tidal waves on live is alot different from the tidal waves in this video. which one is the right one lol
I would not say "a lot" different. I clarified the changes in the pinned comment below the video. The core concepts remain the same even with the outdated explanation on tidal waves.
1. Upkeep spells
2. Generate Tidal Waves
3. Spend Tidal Waves
Hello I'm new to resto shaman. Is it possible that tidal wave was changed so that only riptide triggers it (and chain heal doesn't anymore)?
@ToejamDcheflok correct! I will be releasing an updated beginners guide for all of the healers (including resto shaman) as soon as the prepatch is released at the end of July / early August before launch so keep an eye out for those
@@ToejamDcheflok chain heal now cosumes tidal waves if I'm not mistaken. So you generate stacks with riptide and consume them with chain heal, healing wave, and healing surge
@@Moarcookiezlive thanks mate
only play with it if you like to suffer. resto main sice bc :(
Would've been nice to go over your talent tree.
This is to be relevant all expansion long so the idea is you start with this, then you get more specifics like talents in the mythic+ / raid guides I put out each new patch
@@Moarcookiezlive I was just wondering with the builds you were talking about, which talents would be best to spec into. I healed with my shammy in Shadowlands. Only low teen mythic keys. This is definitely a more complicated build than I was using then. Im playing my old prot warrior mainly this xpac. Always play tank. Gonna have to practice on the shammy to get all these symbiotic talents down. Thanks for the video. Very good video.
whast the addon to show your heals
For the cooldowns of my spells - Weakauras
For player health and buffs - Elvui Unitframes
If it's something else you are talking about just let me know a bit more detail do I can help you :)
Hmm, well, I don't really want to play a role that is a mix of heal/damage. I had started to level my shaman, but maybe not. Makes me sad.
You don't have to do damage playing resto shaman, its just good at it. Its your choice what spells you press
Could you name these addons you're using
Elvui Unitframes
Weakauras
Bigwigs
dunno, shaman looks like to me it's quite slow at healing
With the right amount of haste and ability usage, they are actually quite good at reacting quickly to oncoming damage
What to do if I dont have Tidal Wave?
You should get it :)
But on a real note the class still plays the same. Press riptide and healing stream/cloudburst lots > press healing wave, healing surge, and chain heal in between
45% percent 12 clicks 40 attacks 2 min in and you have a balanced game with a 70% on average win rate which provides 3.2 damage and all 3rd patchs are shaman patchs where 102% of people play this class then there is no losing with this strategy you can now treat us like were not retarded the 30 times in a row that we died however was a unlucky crit from the boss which make the stats null and void you need not to worry about this. this is the most boosted class whatsoever you however won't get bind on equip spells or something that provides your 2 percent because we have like 12 healers if you wanted to boost this character you can stare at the paint in classic wow you know the place where people go to leave they kids
I've got a tip for those who want to play in dragonflight. DON'T USE OTHER PEOPLES TALENTS. you'll be confused AF. Just take some time to check them all out and decide what type of healer you want to be ;)
While I believe its a good idea to experiment for yourself, I think just diving into the talent tree completely blind can be beyond overwhelming for a newer player. Espeically if you already were level 60 when the talent changes came out.
@@Moarcookiezlive I see where you are coming from but for me for example... I played a bit of resto shammy in SL. Didn't even play m+. But if you know for example tremor totem and purge. Those are some very useful spells aswell as windrush totem for me. When I imported wowheads m+ build tremor and purge weren't even in the build. They also made me play the ascension CD while I for example never used it and don't realy value it that much. I'd rather buff all my other abilities and stick to the same "spell rotation" in combination with ALOT of totems and utility. I just think alot of people are saying resto shaman is looking bad in DF but I think they just have their priorities terribly wrong. And I'm pretty sure shammy will be the best pug healer again after a while just because of it's utility and versatility.
I'm also not realy using all the different manan totems and decided to put those points somewhere else. I'm mainly going to do m+ with my shammy so I'll be drinking between pulls so mana shouldn't be a problem.
What about the talents
