Make sure to replace the grease in the gear set head of the unit. Easy to do takes 15-30 minutes tops. Really does make a difference in noise and vibrations also helps extend the life of the tool. Do it often if it’s a tool for professional use.
@@semiephemeral9 yeah pretty much. It’s a bit different for a forced action. But overall most DA sander/polishers should be similar. Take out the retaining screws for the head then lightly pry (if needed). Just be gentle and don’t force anything. If you find yourself trying to force stop and rethink you might be using the wrong sized bit, twisting the wrong way ect…
Please be safe and do research when modifying your tools! While I know Yvan wouldn’t tell you to do anything unsafe with your tools. Just make sure to do your own due diligence and research. These things can maim/kill you if mishandled! I recently had a freak incident with a polisher where the assembly that the backing plate screws into stripped. Backing plate hit an “A” pillar on a jeep wrangler I had and dented the pillar. Customer vehicle too thank god it was from a body shop so it got fixed immediately. But it also happened In a spot where PDR is not possible. Seconds before it would’ve been flung at my face
@@diydetailofficial on the Bauer sander that’s the part I need to remove thnx if u can make a quick video that will be great I bought one but didn’t turn so I returned it and got me a Hercules it’s 3 amp but same issue I was going to return it too jaja thn Ivan for your patience.
I have a very important question! So if if you remove the rubber seal and have the sander rotate much faster, will it still vibrate as well or will it act more of a Rotary polisher instead?
Love these non common sense simple solutions to problems, thank you!
Happy to help!
Just purchased a Bauer RO sander from Harbor Freight and had this problem. Was going to return it, but now I know the quick fix! Thanks!
Glad I could help

Thank you very much! You have no idea how much I needed that tip
Glad it helped!
Yvan, you just blew my mind! Awesome!
Happy to hear that!
Hey Yvan!! Why is this so important? I'm really intrigued! 😊
Sanders require a pad brake. Polishers require free spinning backing plates to perform properly.
Great video sir. Thanks for the tip.
Glad to help
Great tip never knew that. 💪🏼💪🏼👍🏻👍🏻
Happy to help!

Thank you. 👍
You are welcome!
Fantastic advise, I have the exact same sander, need to try this immediately. For which situations do you recommend to use the sander vs polisher?
For light polishing
Which sander is this ?
Wow. Thank you!!!
Thank you.
Are you guys based out of Utah? I seen one of your videos one day and you were washing a car here in Utah
Our studio is in Nebraska, Nick lives in Utah
@@diydetailofficial awesome. I just bought your rotary polisher. Looking forward to using it to polish an airplane
@user-ho3fz6pz5u Thank you.
Happy Saturday!
You too!

Me reading this after taking off the brake pad.....
When will gold standard be back in stock
?
Next week
I thought the rubber ring was a gasket of some sort to keep fluid out if you’re wet sanding something
No
Thanks for showing this!
Our pleasure!
What's the job of the rubber ring?
As a pad brake for sanding
@@diydetailofficial aaah, thanks for explaining
Hey Ivan do you have a video on the Bauer thnx
Unfortunately not
@@diydetailofficial on the Bauer sander that’s the part I need to remove thnx if u can make a quick video that will be great I bought one but didn’t turn so I returned it and got me a Hercules it’s 3 amp but same issue I was going to return it too jaja thn Ivan for your patience.
@santiagorojas9128 remove the backing plate, remove the black plastic brake, put the backing plate back on
Will diy come out with a cordless palm sander?
Eventually
What brand is the sander? Thanks.
amzn.to/3JllFil
What purpose does that serve in regard to detailing
A palm sander is a good polishing tool when the pad brake is removed.
Thank you man. Great help
Glad it helped
Would a Mirka 5mm sander work for applying APP?
Yes
@@diydetailofficial cool thanks

It will act like any other DA. Backing plate brakes are for sanders, not polishers
lol did this to my rules 15 and 21 still stall but definitely helps.
Good
Diy Detail palm sander when? 😂❤
Eventually
😳
Thank you.
Why would you have to remedy that?
Isn’t that how it’s made or the directions tell you to do that and doesn’t make any sense ?
This converts it from a sander to a polisher
Thank you, I was having so much problems with this.I even bought a beef here when and it didn't fix it
Glad I could help
I tried removing the Pad Brake from my palm sander, but now my sandpaper won't stop flirting with me!
As long as they are not inappropriate advances, see it as a compliment.
NEVER NEVER USE A BUFFER ON A CAR..NEVER..
Why?
I must know - WHY?!?!
