All across the internet there have been tales spread by Lion King fans of a lion not referenced in the films. Between the first and second film, rumors have manifested of another heir to the Pride Lands. Legends states Simba had another cub.

Hi Wotso, hope you are having a magical day? I heard Zira was Scar's mate, they had two cubs of their own, Vitani and Nuka, then Zira found Kovu and raised him as her and Scar's cub. I also heard that Kopa was playing one day, Zira saw him and told him she had something to show him. Poor Kopa had apparently followed Zira and she slaughtered him in revenge for Scar's death (who wasn't killed by Simba, but the hyenas he betrayed, she should have went after them), then she had his body taken to the elephant graveyard, where of course his family and friends found him. Then I heard Simba and Nala banished Zira and her pride for good, stating if they return they will pay. Nala was relaxed about Kiara playing and exploring because she didn't want Kiara to suffer the way she did, when Scar ruled. You hit the nail on the. head, I like your idea better.
I actually think Kopa's existence would explain why Kiara had qualms about becoming queen in TLK2. She was not born first, so she did not feel like it was her destiny. It felt like an unnatural fit for her.
But she doesn't understand why Simba is so protective of her or why she should be so careful against the exiled ones. If Kopa's story was included, the only explanation would be that he died before she was born, and neither Simba nor Nala would ever tell Kiara about her older deceased brother. So by that logic there's no reason for her to believe she is not destined to be queen since for all she knew, she was Simba and Nala's firstborn
Perhaps not. Kiara is actually alright with the idea of being Queen, but her problems come from it becoming her identity. She tells Timon and Pumbaa "I'm not JUST a princess." She asks "If there's so much I must be, can I still just be me?" in We Are One. These actually show that the role put on Kiara suffocates her and she wishes to be thought of as more than just the future queen.

There is one scene from Lion King 2 that bothers me a little bit and might indicate that Kopa was murdered by Zira.
Remember when Zira and Simba met for the first time in the movie? before they left Zira said something like this:

Zira: Do you want your revenge? *pushes Kovu infront of Simba*
Zira: Here, take it....
I had no idea what that meant back when i was a kid but it does make sense if Zira did murder Kopa.

Mystic Force Then he would be orphaning three cubs the way he was orphaned. He wouldn’t do that. It’s clear from his nightmares the pain of losing his parent is still with him, and he will not inflict that pain on another cub.
Well, in English, Simba says, "You know the penalty for returning to the Pride Lands."
Zira says, "But the child does not! However, if you need your pound of flesh, here."
So apparently Simba had enforced that death would be the punishment for the Outsiders to return to the Pride Lands, but Simba was not going to kill a cub for stepping foot on his land, so he let them go.

Me too, and I was born in the early 90s. If I had, Simba's Pride might not have been so great to me.
I heard of another story with kopa's death. Zira did kill him but she did it when Kopa and VITANI fell in love with each other and Zira didn't want that so she tricked him and killed him when they were alone. she also hurt Vitani for falling in love with him.

Here is my theory that goes along with The Lion Guard storyline. I believe that Zira was itching to get back at Simba for what happened to Scar. When Kopa was born, she had finally found a way to get her revenge, but she couldn’t be too obvious or she would be banned before she could do the damage. Once Kopa was older, he became good friends with Vitani. Zira used this to make Kopa trust her. Every time she saw him, she was as cheerful and kind as she was able to be. One day, Zira followed Kopa as he was playing alone at the edge of the Pride Lands. At first when he saw her, he was happy to see her, but soon her realized he was in danger and began to run while calling for help. She chased him out if the Pride Lands in hopes to get away with it before Simba found out that he was missing. Zazu saw that Kovu was being chased and alerted Simba, who ran as fast as he could to save his son. Zira was doing everything she could to kill Kopa, he fought back, but wasn’t strong enough and she knocked him unconscious. At this time, Simba came to save him. He chased Zira off and then ran to his son’s aid. Simba found his young cub motionless and blood stained. He thought for sure that he was dead. So after giving him one last hug, he headed back to Pride Rock to break the news to Nala, his younger cub Kiara, and the rest of his Pride. What he didn’t know was that Kopa was indeed alive but was weak. When Kopa woke up, he had no clue where he was or how to get back home. He remembered all of his training and lessons from his parents and he raised himself. Back at Pride Rock, Simba ordered an exile for Zira, her family and Pride. He vowed that he would NEVER let this happen again. Later, he had a second cub named Kion who had never knew nor was informed about his brother. After Kiara was married to Kovu, Kion was married to Rani, and Zira was dead, Kopa unknowingly wandered into the Pride Lands where he ran into Kiara. She pounced in fear, to which he looked closely at her saying “Kiara? Is that you?” She got off of him confused and asked who he was, he responded “It’s me, Kopa. Do you...remember me?” She remembered her brother from when she was a young cub and ran to him causing him to fall over. She was extremely overjoyed. She proceeded to take him to Pride Rock so that he could reunite with the rest of his family. He then asked where Vitani was and was taken to where The Lion Guard was patrolling. When she saw him she ran over to him and again, knocked him over, she couldn’t believe her eyes! The next day, he was taken to The Tree Of Life to meet Kion and Rani. In the end, Kopa and Vitani don’t replace Kiara and Kovu because Kopa knows that Kiara will make the perfect leader. This theory was inspired by others. What are your thoughts?

only because a handful of fansa refuse to achowledge that Disney outright stated that Kopa, as well as these books, are not cannon to LK
I never knew of a character named Kopa and just thought the fur changed because Disney's art and animation were adapting to the new technology going into the animation.

I wish kopa’s story would have been included in the lion king 2. And I think Kion would have made more sense as the son the son of kovu and kiara.

*This is my long as theory on the whole Kopa-Kiara-Kion situation. Enjoy:*
I think that the cub at the end of TLK1 could either be Kopa or Kiara, depending on whether or not Zira and the Outsiders had actually been exiled before the end of the movie.
*1.* If Zira/Outsiders had not yet been exiled at the end of TLK1, then the lion cub shown at the end of the movie is Kopa, and his timeline spans from the end of TLK1 to somewhere before TLK2. During this time he goes through the adventures told in the books, but is then killed either directly or indirectly by Zira. Zira and the Outsiders were not banished immediately so it should be reasonable to say that at first Zira and the other lionesses who were loyal to Scar had pretended that they were on Simba's side in order to save their lives. For this reason, I think that Zira lied about Kovu not being Scar's son/being adopted in order to protect him and Scar's legacy, so that Simba wouldn't turn on Kovu. (Who ELSE could be the father? There is no way Scar would have allowed another adult male lion into or even near the pride during his reign; he wanted all the power). It was already known that Zira's other children, at the very least Nuka if not Vitani, were indeed Scar's children, so she couldn't really lie about them (nor were they essential to her plan to make Kovu king) but they were clearly little to no threat so Simba was not too concerned with them anyway. Not to mention the fact that Simba did not actually know what Zira and those around her were like, as he was not even present when Scar was king, nor does he have a reason to punish those lions for complying with the laws of a tyrant, he most likely assumed they complied because they didn't have a choice, and not because they followed willingly. Kopa being Simba's son got in the way of Zira's goal in ensuring that Kovu (who was born sometime before Scar was killed and was chosen by Scar to be his heir) would become king. Because Kovu was still a young cub, Simba was not an immediate threat that Zira had to dispose of; in fact, it gave her time to raise and train Kovu to overthrow Simba and become the next king. However, with Kopa becoming the heir to the throne, she now had a problem on her hands, errr...paws. She could either get rid of Kopa now while he was still young, naive and weaker than her or let him grow up and potentially have to fight and take down two strong lions (Simba and the fully grown Kopa). Being as cunning as she is, Zira arranged for Kopa's death, no doubt laying a trap of some sort to make it seem more accidental rather than risking to outright kill the cub and be accused of murder. Regardless of how it happened, it is discovered that Zira was responsible for Kopa's death, and her hidden loyalty to Scar is revealed. Because of all this Zira is then exiled by Simba along with the band of lionesses who were followers of hers as well as Scar's. Sometime later Kiara is born, a new ceremony occurs (which is why it looks different from the one at the end of TLK1) and TLK2 begins. _(I personally prefer this explanation)._
*2.* If Zira/Outsiders had already been exiled by the end of TLK1, then the cub shown at the end of the movie is Kiara, and all of the events mentioned above happened after Simba returned and reclaimed Pride Rock/became King of the Pride Lands and before the birth of Kiara/end of the movie. Kopa is not mentioned in TLK1 or 2 because he is not relevant to either of the stories being told, just as characters like Ma and Uncle Max from TLK 1 1/2 who existed in the same timeline as TLK1 were not mentioned in the original movie because they were not relevant at the time (aka hadn't been thought of yet).
*3.* Kion is born sometime after Kovu and Kiara meet as cubs and before Kiara goes on her first hunt as a young lioness. This period of time is skipped in TLK2 and can be used as an explanation as to why Kion isn't mentioned in TLK2 and where he fits into the picture. By the time Kiara reaches adulthood, Kion has either died (although I think that unlikely), gone off on his own mission with TLG (most likely) or to start his own pride. Either way, he is gone and therefore becomes irrelevant to Kiara's Romeo and Juliet-esque story and isn't mentioned. If a TLK3 movie was made, I'd want/expect to see an adult Kion returning to the Pride Lands and his family, mission complete with little Kovu/Kiara cub(s) running around creating mischief in order to tie all these plot holes and theories together into a nice tight little bow. Maybe Kiara and Kion would even be told the story of their late brother Kopa who came before them.
*4.* Boring real world explanation is obviously that a lot of characters such as Kion simply weren't thought of at the time and were sloppily inserted into the story in order to make more money off of TLK franchise; while Kopa was not intended to be canon or even known about by the TLK2 directors/producers, nor were they too concerned with being consistent with TLK1 - as shown by the discrepancies in the cub's ceremonies.
If you actually read all this I absolutely salute you, you're a legend.
heyyitsanabananaa -_- If Scar was the father of Kovu than why in the hell is Kiara mating her cousin?? Disney is pg. They wouldn't do that. I say Kovu was taken and Nuka said it himself so, that part was false but it's a theory so I guess at the same time it's true.
Maybe kovu and kopan are the same Cubs, and scar and his lioness captured him and then got expelled? But then kiara would be mating with her brother 🤦♀️🤦♀️
I did read all of it. You had pretty good explanation for what could have happened to Kopa, Kion, and how they tied into tlk1 and2. I liked it. It was a eeally good debate. (But i like the first explanation best too. :)

There were books with Kopa. With Disney label on it he is official by Lion King fans. It makes perfect sense ZIra took him out and was exiled for it. It also explains why Simba so protective over Kiara. Now they need to make another Lion King with Kiara and Kion touching up on things that were told in the book of things from the past and secrets unfold trust me that'd be a money maker

I grown up reading the books and watching the movies, I remember seeing Kopa in the books and wondering were he was in The Lion King 2. For me Kopa will be always the lost son of Simba.
I do believe Disney created Kion inspired on Kopa both in the books (on the lil adventures He had) and a lil in his appearances (like the small main in his head) but not a "replacement" for Kopa.

Yeah, I believe so too. They could not possibly have remained unaware of the freakin' Kopa controversy after all these years. And he can't be a replacement for Kopa because Kopa was never intended for the movies. :) While I can respect Kopa fans' love for the character especially if they grew up reading those books, I do wish they would calm the hell down and do just a little bit of research before foaming at their mouths about how he's "real" and "official" and "canon" when in fact he never was. I mean, if they did just a little bit of research they would (or at least should) understand that Kopa was never mentioned by any film maker anywhere, and that his books were never officially released outside USA and of two audio books in Germany.
As in that the vast majority of the world's Lion King fans never even knew Kopa existed anywhere and there are boatloads of fans who still don't. Which of course should tell anyone who has common sense, that such a character was never intented to exist in the movies. As huge of a hit as The Lion King was immediately after its release, Disney would not leave an intented canon character obscure to 99% of the world.

King Namor 777, thanks! Yes, I prefer getting to the bottom of things and getting the facts straight instead of trusting fan speculation. The facts aren't even that hard to find if a fan just cared to look around. Also, one should always look into the linked source reference on a page instead of trusting the info just because a source has been referenced.
Like in this case someone had totally misread the Alex Simmons' e-mail if even read the whole e-mail through at all...and claimed that he'd said the Six New Adventures books were supposed to be a prequel to Simba's Pride when in fact Simmons doesn't say anything like that in it. He doesn't talk about the rest of the book series at all, but only talks about his own story Tale of Two Brothers and meant that that Mufasa and Scar's bacstory was obviously a prequel to the first film and that he suspects Disney saw itnas only a part of the book universe. His statement had nothing to do with Simba's Pride and nothing to do with the rest of the book series. Too bad that false Trivia was there for four years before I very recently notic it and removed it. Because now it's eternally docukented in this video. :S

I honestly love Kopa, the little story I heard about him was adorable yet very sad at the same time.
Have you guys noticed that at the end of the first Lion King, Zazu bows whereas in the beginning of 'Simba's Pride', he curtesies. So that also shows that the gender is different. If he curtesied in front of "Kopa" then he would be pitying the future monarch.
For years I thought I was imagining those kids books. I could swear I had one when I was like 4 or 5 and now I realize I wasn't crazy. Cool stuff
I think Kopa was very insecure about being first in line for his father's throne. After hearing about his great uncle's treachery, he was concerned that a sinister lust for power was in his family's blood. Having two younger siblings (Kiara and Kion) he grew worried that jealousy would fester inside them to the point that his grandpa's tragic death would repeat itself. He ran away from pride rock, crossed paths with Zira, and was murdered to avenge her former leader.

True but Kion was never in lion king 2 probably because of the lion guard but in that he was shown with his sister same age as when simba was a cub and would of had a celebration for him?? Kiara grew up in lion king 2 so kion would off as well. I believe Kopa was just seriously hurt by zira and left the pridelands to start his own pride, making simba believe he had passed. (maybe kopa will return 🤷♀️) Then we have kiara then later kion. Recently in the lion guard kion left priderock/pridelands to go to the tree of life and people are speculating he will come back to see kiara and kovu engaged. kiara also officially being queen.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED WITH KOPA!!!
-In my own interpretation-
Narrator: Having returned from training on surviving the African savanna, Kopa returns to the Prideland in high hopes of seeing his family again and ascend to the throne as the next king. However, having been gone from the Prideland for so long and with the rising tensions between Pride Rock and the Remnants of Scar, the prideland becomes divided. Skirmishes between the two kingdoms occur in which at a point Kopa got caught in a skirmish battle between lionesses from both sides but manages to escape the violent battle. The lionesses from Pride Rock having saw Kopa get caught in the skirmish and not see him after the battle reported to Simba that he died at some point in the battle. Kopa having retreated from the battle was then chased by a small patrol lead by both Naku and Vitani since both are Zira's children and expects them to be capable leading guards of their kingdom. Although close into killing Kopa, Kopa successfully escapes and leaves the entirety of the Prideland and Outlands and roams around the savanna as a wandering lion with no home or pride. After traveling around for a mere two weeks he comes across another lion, whose mane is almost forming into a full young lion's mane*
Kopa: Hello there. Are you homeless as well?
???: Yes I am. I am traveling around the savanna to find a place to call my own home and form my own pride
Kopa: That's awesome!
???: Are you doing the same as well?
Kopa: I guess...I left my homeland. My home is divided in two and in the midst of war with another pride. I tried to return home but was pursued by another pride's patrol and barely escaped with my life.
???: Oh..I'm sorry that you were not able to return back to your homeland.
Kopa: Yeah...
Kion: My name is Kion. What's your name my friend?
Kopa: My name is Kopa!
Kion: Kopa eh? Alright. Well I should continue travelling my friend. But if you do form your own pride at some point, I hope we can be allies and not enemies in the future haha
Kopa: Haha! I hope so as well!
(They still have no idea they're brothers and also i'm just gonna say they don't know each other due to Kion being busy with his job as being lion guard leader so he never had time to really know of Kopa's existence)
Narrator: And so the two lions part from their chance in meeting. Two years passed and changes have already occurred. The Prideland and the Outland have been unified after a long period of violence and hatred between Pride Rock and Remnants of Scar therefore now becoming Greater Pride Rock, a large pride that can be considered a large monarchy state in the world of the African savanna. In these two years Kion has traveled into a very dense Jungle and encountered lions that live in tribal like society that are divided into different tribes. Kion has defeated all the different tribal leaders and unified the tribal lions of the Jungle and formed Shirikisho because translated in Swahili means "Confederacy". As for Kopa he traveled further north where he wonders around between the borders of the northern savanna and southern part of the Sahara desert which to his surprise he also sees that lions roam around the Sahara as well. He tells the desert lions of life in the rich savanna and to his surprise the desert lions tell him of a richer fertile land than the savanna called "The Nile" where they all hail from and also decide to join with him since Kopa knows more than the desert lions of a world that's further down from the Nile that the desert lions don't know. Kopa forms the Jangwa tribe because in Swahili means "Desert". The two younger prides begin to grow and stories of the prosperity of Greater Pride Rock entices the Shirikisho and Jangwa prides to engage in conquest to conquer the Greater Pride Rock.

Don't forget Lion King Fan's there is another character that was long lost in the early script of the 1994 Lion King film it was a male cub and he went by the of Mheetu he was the younger brother of Nala, his physical appearance was described as young cub with a reddish brown coat in color he had a outsider's nose and had green eyes, basically a mini Scar, talking about Scar there is also the theory of that Scar is his father which make Mheetu half brother to Nala, i love Mheetu as much as i love Kopa and his story.
At least Mheetu was actually created by Disney instead of being a third-party character like everyone from the Six New Adventures.

I think a way to rectify this is to recall that lions bear about two or three cubs per litter and lionesses in a pride do (or tend to) share suckling duties. That and male cubs do leave the pride after a certain point.
If anything, it might explain the discrepancies, of why we don't see Kion or Kopa in the movies, especially when we see Kiara as a cub or when she meets Kovu again
Thank you for making a video on Kopa! i really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on him :) as for my opinion, i don't think that Kopa was ever intended to be considered cannon (although i think it would be really cool if he was) but like you said, i think he will always be a big part of the community, and i really enjoy seeing peoples theories and thoughts about him.
I love Kopa, I thought it was amazing and I read a couple of those books about him. Who knows what fan theory could of worked but I would of love if they would of mentioned him once in the series the Lion Guard. But it's not my story. And I still loved the Lion Guard story and how it played out. One other thing that bothered me is that if Simba was protective of Kiara, maybe it should of been shown in the series. I mean one episode he let her lead the Pridelands with confidence, no excuses, no protection, just full on trust. That was great, just not line up with his character from the second movie
I was an infant when the Lion King was released, and subsequently didn't hear about the books released directly after the film until years later. I was old enough to fall in love with Simba's Pride. (I still have the stickers somewhere.) Unfortunately, Kopa will never be cannon for me, and he has the same fate as many other characters in say, Star Wars. Disney is a huge and intricate world to be a part of.

Lots of UA-camrs have theorized this idea, but these are my reasons why I think it isn't true.
Vitani is Kovu and Kiara's age. So if Kopa had been 'dating' Vitani and that's why he was killed then Kiara would have been much older by that event and it would be in TLK2. Besides, lions reach sexual maturity at about age 2, which we can see being held in the movies. As cubs, Simba and Nala were just friends and the idea of marriage was disgusting to them. Then, when they were older (probably about two years), that's when the romantic interest arose. Same thing happened with Kiara and Kovu. Even Kion, in the new tv show, responds with disinterest and disgust at the idea of 'the talk', which is a joke made in 'Return of the Roar'.

The backstory for Kopa does seem to offer some reasoning for why Simba had so much animosity toward the Outlander faction of lions in the Lion King 2, I do kind of wish that we could get a film that includes Kopa, even if it possibly retcons specific events in the 2nd film to better include him in the lore. There were some things in the Lion King 2 that I think with Kopa's inclusion, may have ran somewhat smoother if written well during screenwriting.

You should talk about how Kion is involved in the stories too. Apparently he is now a part of Lion King Canon, but we know he wasn't in Lion King II. Maybe we can say that Kion and Kopa were both offscreen during Kiara's cub years in Lion King II, and by the time Kiara reached adulthood, both of them had left to start there own prides?

since there's supposedly a remake of the lion king coming out in a long while, I would like to think they would "alter'" some plots around so his existence would be canon. In The Jungle Book remake, they changed the plot quite heavily, such as making King Louie and Ka titanic in size (not to mention, change Ka's gender) and show Sher Khan actually killing a character, so perhaps they would alter the plot of The Lion King to feature him in there somehow?

Kion is pretty much Disney's answer to the Kopa fans, but NOPE! They're still unsatisfied and still complained because it's "not Kopa." Heck, some people even say that Kiara looks like a "female Simba" or she "looks exactly like him," contradicting themselves since they love Kopa so much though he looks a LOT more like Simba (Not entirely, but mostly) than Kiara does and HE looks like Simba with a brown tuft on his head. I don't hate Kopa, but I extremely HATE how some of the die-hard fans of him shove FAN THEORIES down other people's throats like it's fact, when it's NOT.

So what I think is: Kopa not wanting to harm his father and cause harm to the pride, leaves in hopes to fight off another pride leader or is a rogue. however there is still a possibility that he died sometime as well. If he did die, either it was before he reached full maturity or sometime after he left the pridelands.

lion king 2: the cub's eye was yellow with a *red and black pupil*. (All other color pallet from lion king 1 was the same in the part 2)
lion king 1: Timon and Pumba were present during the presentation standing by Simba
lion king 2: Timon and Pumba were abscent.
This clearly shows there was a cub before Kiara but its up to disney alone to break down a background story to explain WHY

Just because the cubs in the 2 movies look different, doesnt mean they are a different character. Disney had no idea what to name the cub at the end of TLK, and decided to call it "Fluffy" and keep it genderless, until TLK 2. Not to mention, a different animation team worked on TLK 2.
Disney never cared about Expanded Universes. It was just cash grab for them. They did the same with Pirates Of the Caribbean. Or with Star Wars which they fucked 35 Years Of continuity, and the next on their list is Indiana Jones
I don't really like that theory, but I see Kopa as semi cannon and I think that he would have left the pride so he wouldn't challenge his father. I like the semi cannon books better than the lion guard.
Tbh, I can forgive the creators of SP for not being aware of Kopa. Information was hard to come by and the books weren't so popular. The fans will find some way to fit him in with their canon (like mine, the presentation at the end of TLK is Kiara's, but Kopa was born during the recovery period, where he died young since he was unable to get enough nutrition, and Zira used that grief to attack and Simba exiled her and her followers).
But I find the biggest problem to be with TLG and Kion. It's the age of the internet and the Lion King has a massive community online. Anyone with half a brain can go online, look up Lion King and find out about the books and all other semi-canon characters. I don't for a moment believe that the creators of TLG were unaware of Kopa. Kion's story creates so many muddles and makes the characters OOC and even the haphazard ending isn't enough to justify it. How hard would it have been to have Kion be Kovu and Kiara's son? Perhaps they did it because more people know Simba than Kiara, but if they were going to shoehorn it into the canon, they did a very poor job of it.

Tbh I think what happened is Kopa was born and grew up in the pride lands and eventually decided to leave the pride to start his own! Then Kiara was born and then maybe 6 months later Kion was born or probably later on and was not seen in lion king two bc the first part of lion king before Kiara’s hunt was before kions birth or Kion was just doing what he does around the pridelands then Kion leaves to the tree of life right before her hunt and then the second part of lion king two takes place! Meanwhile Kion meets rani! Then they all rush home to the pride lands after learning Zira has attacked and when they arrive it’s over and then the rest of Lion guard takes place after the lion king two 😄

Kopa went out to play when he ran into a cub named Vitani they played together for a very long time, until Vitani tells Zira about Kopa then she realizes that Kopa is Simba's cub. Zira tells Vitani to stay with her Brothers Nuka and Kovu. Vitani listens to her so call "mother" and stays with her brothers. Zira tracks the scent of Vitani which then leads to Kopa's trail. Zira find Kopa and attacks him then leaves him to die. Simba and his pride find Kopa and finds Zira and begin to battle. Days later Kopa wakes up with minor wounds and walks off into nowhere and adventurers the world. He comes back to pride rock older and stronger. He finds Simba and his family, greets them, then Simba tells the story of how things turned out since he had left. Simba asks Kopa if he wishes to stay with him. But Kopa would rather live his own life. He then leaves pride rock with Vitani with him and starts their own pride.

What I have learned is that Kopa was attacked by Zira and ran away. This is why Simba and Nala never found him. Several years later Kopa returned to the PrideLands with a scar on his face and a missing eye. When Simba looked at the strange lion,he realized that it was Kopa! His firstborn son had come to his rightful home. Kopa had supposedly grew up in the jungle like his father had. When Kopa came home he told his father that he wanted to start his on pride with Vitani. They called the pride, The Wilds. They lived in the jungle in peace. Kopa and Vitani had three cubs. I'm going to still say Kopa's existence was canon and he was killed by Zira. Obviously that would be too dark for Disney to cover, so they abandoned the idea. Kopa's death made Simba very overprotective of his second born cub Kiara, which is clearly shown in TLK2 even breaking his promise to Kiara to let her hunt alone. Also that does explain his excessive hatred of Zira and the outlanders. Kion was Simba's third born son but according to the Lion Guard series, we know why Kion was absent in TLK2 film because he left Pride Rock for his journey to the Tree of Life.

sapphira31 It's widely assumed that Vitani and Nuka are Scar's cubs that he had with Zira. Kovu's real father however remains a mystery. Scar adopted Kovu and prior to his death had chosen him to be his successor, but that is as much as we get.
I always thought Kovu & Vitani were twins, since they looked about the same age. They're also the only ones in their pride to not have the Outlander reddish-colored eyes. Going with that, I believed Nuka was Scar's. After the cub was born, and seeing how his son had turned out, Scar believed no biological child of his would be strong enough to hold the throne. So, he told Zira to find another male to get her pregnant (a kind of animal sperm donor, so to speak). He named the male twin his heir. This choice slowly bred resentment between Nuka & Kovu, starting the cycle of brother rivalry all over again.
Danielle Musella This is pretty much what I've thought all along, this or there were two fathers (neither Scar) involved (especially as Vitani and Kovu look to be the same age). Nuka clearly never mentions any knowledge of Scar as his father. It makes me wonder what Zira was to Scar.

Kopa is a really good idea and I love they idea of the tales of kopa the first son about him getting killed by the out landers because I think is the most logical option but we can get our hopes up all we want about kopa but in reality it was pretty much they didn’t have the same animation sources that they did with Simbas pride but I do really love idea of kopa

This is my opinion and story on kopa. At the Ending rafiki does hold up simba and nala's son kopa. The cub is the future king. However he was attack zira and left for dead, he escaped but was so close to death....zira was kicked out of the pride after what she had done

I don't think Kopa could have been killed by Zira because when Simba let Chiara out for a walk for the first time, he said he was afraid for her because he realized the risk he and Nala were taking at her age, and why Vitani would be. so long loyal to her mother after she, according to the story, killed the boy she was in love with? And why, when Vitani fell in love with Kopa, did Zira attack him, and when Kovu, the chosen one, fell in love with Chiara, did she even use it for her plans? It's just weird and not tied to the plotline, I think it's most likely that Kopa has decided that he doesn't want to become king and has run away to live the life he wants, or he just doesn't have any Kopa and people have him invented to solve the problem in the plot, in which at the end of the first film Simba and Nala have a boy and at the beginning of the second - a girl. Personally, I prefer to think that Chiara is their firstborn, and Kayon is second. Otherwise, I like the Lion King too.
Finding out about a new lion cub that wasn't in the movies is very exciting what gets really confusing what this mean overall story but for kopa he one of the best character

My theory:
Many years ago, lions around the pridelands never had a pride, they just sometimes met each other and stuff, but 2 brothers were selected by their father to change this, to create The Pridelands. After the lions agreed, the father was analysing his cubs (Who were full grown) of who could lead the pridelands since he was old and sick, he chose the younger one, in which the older one got angry and tried to assassinate him and the father, many of his friends tried too, it resulted in the fathers death. They were caught and banished to a nearby desert where there wasn’t much to live for, the lions got thin and scrawny, but had a lot of battle training. A rule was set in The Pridelands that they could never return, and that you shouldn’t go there, that rule was soon forgotten during Mufasas’ reign. When Simba had his first cub Kopa, he let him explore around the pride when he was old enough to go old on his own, he reached The Outlands and met a cub the same age as him called Vitani, they became best friends and met day after day, and had a little crush on each other, but then her mother, Zira, who had a deep grudge for The Pridelands, found Kopa and sliced his neck open, Vitani and her brother, Nuka, saw the death of Kopa, Vitani soon had a big hate for her mother that she hid, while Nuka only got more confident in his actions. Simba heard from Zazu (Who was watching over Kopa) that he had been killed and devoured by Zira (She is a cannibal in my headcanon). Simba grieved for his son to the point where he became insane and overprotective of any cub he meets, while he will go insane on any sort of Outlander. He found out that Nuka was Scar’s son and Zira was his mate, and had flashbacks of his fathers fall, and started to get PTSD whenever he saw an Outlander, he banished any lion who is even local to The Pridelands to go to The Outlands, because he never wants them to get scarred like him.
I would tell you why "Kopa" isn't in Lion king 2. Because they didn't know they are going to make lion king 2, so they just put same lion like on the beginig of lion king. When they start making lion king 2 they put that Simba is going to have girl because if she wasn't girl all child would be boys.
